I appreciate this discussion and agree completely. People are very ignorant to veganism and what it even is, and definitely think it’s a “I’m better than you” statement. Thanks for sharing! 🌱💚
I would argue that being vegan means that you oppose racism, sexism and all forms of oppression. I'd say veganism is a justice movement that focuses on non-human animals and ending their use and rights from being violated but in the scope of veganism is anti oppression, environmentalism etc.
Only Veganism is strictly about animal rights. The injustices you named have absolutely nothing to do with animals. Interpersonal issues are just that, interpersonal.
You have no understanding of animal liberation at all if you think it exists in a vacuum separate from racism, class oppression, patriarchy, and all other systems of oppression within human society.
Such a good video thank you! To this day, one of my favorite vegan restaurants was a black owned soul food place called Yes It's Fresh. I was very very poor at the time and I could get a decent sized meal for like $5. Somehow they were able to have their prices incredibly low, still don't know how.
Realistically, plant food prices should be relatively low. The only reason animal foods are as cheap as they are is largely due to the tax dollar government subsidies that pay for them to be that cheap. Essentially, we're all paying for a McDonald's hamburger, even if we don't eat there.
You guys have some real deep insight. Stated things I never even thought of. I hardly ever hear people of color speaking about vegansim so, it's so great to see you guys doing that. We definitely need more of us in this movement. I noticed though, for those that do speak about vegansim, it's food focused and food driven, with little to no recognition to the babies being oppressed for carriage rides, being oppressed for their furs and skins, being oppressed for animal testing, breeding. As activists, it's vital to touch on all the ways humans exploit and kill animals. We should also be promoting vegan sanctuaries to really connect people to animals. I say every week, "If you're not vegan, animals in sanctuaries are being rescued from you". I'm tying to get into this hip hop world with my AR music as well. A LOT of animal oppression taking place within it from food, to fashion, to accessories and these artists need to know what they are supporting, way past their diets. What I'm doing is still in it's infancy. Gonna keep grinding hard until I get there. Check my YT playlist when you can. Myself and the animals thank you all for your voices. Keep fighting ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼.
Thank you!
I loved this so much!!! Thanks 👌🌱

This is such a great video🙌 thank you for this discussion. You guys very much align with my truths
Great video! It's like I say, all oppression is interconnected and intersects and perpetuates each other.

And you also have zero understanding of oppression period if you think that human oppression is a matter of "interpersonal issues".

Yo check out Onyx Spiral! Vegan anarchist rapper. The video has recently been uploaded to the channel ❤
Love this 💚🌱
I love this. Whilst we own the bodies of others, supremacism is alive and well.
