Ever thought pokemon intentionally not meeting demand to help TCG game... as thats a money printing machine with low cost. As might push people to buy more virtual packs... when can't buy physical cards.
This has a flaw in its mindset, Prismatic is only up because of mass manipulation via 10,000 flippers and some with big bags. The average consumer is complaining and hasn’t paid market for prismatic. Consumers dictate price not MSRP and business need to find out how to profit. Somewhere in the middle is a healthy market. If the hobby becomes just a bunch of investors Pokemon will crumble.
@@redmurdera doubt he read what you posted 😂, but if him telling the truth gives you the ick that idk what people like you want , regardless of how it comes across it’s true, too many entitled people in the hobby that only want it their “way”, killing his credibility bruh gtfoh what credibility do you have?, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t care if you find him less credible

That's my thing both the customer AND the business have to be consistent. If you're charging me MSRP for all your products even though market has them lower you should stay consistent and charge me MSRP for the hot new product. if you charge me Market year round even when it's less than MSRP, I can't complain when market has the price at higher than MSRP.
I've been out of pokemon for several years now. But this sounds to me like stores and customers should both point fingers at the pokemon company. Instant sell outs on website, and people fighting over card drops seem like avoidable issues. Customers wanting everything as cheap as they can get it is a consistent way of thinking whether or not its fair to the store is another issue entirely.
to be honest, retail stores should be selling for MSRP, and local card shops can sell for what they want to, but don’t go buying out all of the retail stores at MSRP to resell at the new market price!
Same here., I strongly agree that the Bitcoin ETFs approval will be greatly life opportunity for us, with my current portfolio of $102,500 from my investments with my personal financial advisor Steve Miley I totally agree with you😊

@@userofsharingan Yes, I will! I never said I'd buy from them. Plus there was like only 2 stores that sold at MSRP. Best Buy and Game Stop. Some dumb store sold at under MSRP. Not gonna remember them.
Some really fair callouts here. I think you're spot on the money with the idea that deep down, people complaining are only looking out for their own pockets and agenda. They are more than willing to get the best deals for themselves when times are bad, but if anyone else tries to the do the inverse when times are good, it's a problem. I appreciate that sentiment. That being said- I think a caveat needs to be made here for pre-orders. After a product is in the wild, let market forces take over. It really bothers me seeing LCS sell pre-orders for Journey Together at jacked up prices. I really feel like a pre-order for anything should be capped at MSRP. Something feels really cheap about taking advantage of pre-orders, which only builds the hype/FOMO cycle, brings in more scalpers, and drives prices even higher.
Market is what market is. Buy what you can when you can and get over it. There will always be cards, packs, sets you cant have. On the plus side there will also always be things you can buy.
My advice to anybody who wants to board that “Timmy train“ is to take a step back, calm down and just wait, sometimes it’s best to wait, because you know the old saying, good things come to those who wait, that’s what I’m doing. I’m waiting for everything to calm down a little bit because we’ve been through this before, if you remember the PS5 and how everyone wanted to get one, we’ve all gone through this before, this is nothing special, just wait until Pokémon does their mass reprint
I used to like watching your videos. When you just talked about the stuff and not how everybody's wrong, and you're right it just seems like all you do now show how much smarter you are than everybody and everybody else is just so dumb.
@@BearcatThunderIt’s not greed. It’s the truth. People were fine that stores have been losing money for the last two years because stores sold at market. Now, that they’re selling at market to recoup some money, everyone is throwing a fit. You can’t have it both ways. I say Pokemon should have a fixed MSRP. $160 for booster boxes no matter what. Y’all would be p***** then.
MSRP is fine with me. If Pokemon could print and sell everything themselves at MSRP for every set no matter what, i'd be fine with that. They would still eventually stop printing the set and it would go up. But it would be MSRP until they stop. That's my ideal world lol.
MSRP = Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. The truth is, a price a product releases at, is the price it should stay until it isn't being manufactured anymore. This is literally the motivation for people to buy and hold sealed product. If you want people to buy your triple MSRP product, then just wait until it isn't being printed anymore. Cry harder bro, and learn the definition of your market terms before you put out vids like this. And just admit you made a mistake buying up all this product nobody wants to pay this price for. You win some you lose some, but at the end of the day you can't shame money out of peoples' wallets.
I agree with some of this. But this is also coming from a person that has access to distribution and/or vendors which gives him an unfair advantage over the average joe trying to find cheap packs in big box stores. But they don’t mention this much
Here’s the issue, most TH-camrs understand and have been giving back to the community. Most TH-camrs selling prismatic: msrp Nostalgia selling prismatic: 15$ a pack
@ yep they're just mad they can't get stock to sell above market themselves. i bet u if they had surging sparks/SWSH they will not sell at MSRP. so funny they only want what benefits them and when it doesn't go their way they blame everyone else by them.
On a collectors view not as a reseller or holder. Card shops have always been selling at MSRP on release date. I don’t agree with shops selling prismatic at double the price and then some. I wouldn’t mind paying $20 over but double is too much. Imagine target or big retail stores doing the same thing. No one would like it either. If comic shops think people will turn around and resell. They should make buyers break the seal if they feel people will turn around and resell for more.
There’s a difference there. Their store doesn’t revolve around the Pokemon hobby. The market for booster boxes for the last two years has been $90-$100. Stores pay anywhere from $85-$95 a bb. There’s no profit there. How are they supposed to pay their bills? It’s just as greedy to want the product dirt cheap and the seller to lose money when it benefits you. This set gave stores a chance to recoup some money and be able to order more of the next sets, but the. Everyone is trying to demonize them for it. Stores can’t win. It’s a lose lose situation. So, next time you get a booster box under $160, maybe be a little grateful and say thank you. Especially, if they’re selling at $100 or less. After fees and everything there’s zero profit. If stores can’t make profit, they can’t stay open. The customer isn’t always right and I think this set has made stores start standing up for themselves. You’ll be seeing more of that.
😂 the one thing that’s crazy to me is how everyone labels the people at stores fighting for product as scalpers but trust me when I say more of those people then not are collectors and people who are trying to get product cheaper and beat the scalpers. I stood in lines for hours waiting on products and most of the people waiting were just people trying to open packs like me. And when the doors open there’s still a mad rush to the product and collectors are also ripping apart pallets just like the scalpers lol. Now they just are not going to flip them but the rush and fighting is still there. But I agree that the people who flip flop back and forth when the price suits them are ridiculous that was a great take for sure. But honestly the thing for me is I’m good friends with a card shop owner and I think the thing people are missing is Pokemon is a volume game you need to sell a lot of product at MSRP to come close to making a living off the sets. But if the volume isn’t there and they get 2 cases of ETBs and sell for MSRP and then there isn’t any more, you think that 1200 dollars profit they made on their cases is going to keep the lights on, pay employees, feed their family, pay there rent or car payments? The way these sets are suppose to work for stores is they’re suppose to sell a lot to keep them going from set to set. But because of the lack of supply from Pokemon to meet demand these shops have to try and find a way to make 20 etbs go as far as they can. But honestly people don’t care about that or their lives and families they just want cards cheap and will walk all over anyone to get them. But I do think the canceling of pre orders is bad that’s never ok but a store selling at market or close to it on a set they cannot get they have to do something or they will lose everything in this market. The thing is yes their are people out there selling for MSRP a lot of content creators but being a YTer myself I can tell you it’s easy to sell thing at MSRP when your raking in a ton of money on the back end from your YT channel and then point fingers at the shops who only have their card shop and nothing else.
TH-camrs and streamers take a lot of product away from stores. That’s a problem in itself. You’re spot on. Not only do TH-camrs not have to pay for a store, they make extra money from YoiTube. People don’t care to think about the nuances. They want everything for dirt cheap no matter who and what it hurts. If these card stores close because of losses, the card game dies. It’s only the players buying the sets the collectors and investors don’t want. They only want sets when they’re hot.
One more thing killing the hobby is the crime, I heard someone is doing a documentary on the high level of theft before it gets to store shelves with packs being opened, gone through for high value prints, replacing with low value card prints, resealed in original packaging, and finally sent back to the store shelves. Also theft at the printing facilities as well. Organized crime has targeted pokemon because of the ring of influencers peddling this as an investment opportunity to make big money. This in turn raises prices on speculation that these cards will gain in value, forgetting that the print numbers are way too high for long term. The Logan Paul effect being the spark that ignited the current market trends to unreasonably priced newer sets cards. The scam continues as investors still haven't realized that they are mostly buying from each other holding sealed products as most of the cards value are next to nill or .30 cents or so. Setting a gambling like environment full of fraud, scammers, influence peddlers, and a market on the verge of over inflated value.
It's all Logan Paul's fault because all of these scalpers are Logan Paul fans! It wasn't bad until HE did that opening! He isn't even a real Pokemon fan, just a tourist with a big brainless following!
Theres a way to do things and there’s a way not to. The LCS that remove shrink on the products and sell at msrp is commendable. If you want it sealed then pay the premium. That’s doing it the right way. We know they aren’t losing out. It’s when you cancel the preorders that you promised just to flip again for more. These are the unfortunate issues.
Amen brother, amen! I am in the market price camp. If demand is lower than supply, the price should be low. If demand is higher than supply, then price should be high. Basic economics
My favorite is when everyone is mad at scalpers and quote "it's a kids game" then there's 50 posts of people showing pics of their 3 etbs 2 binders hauls at target restock!!
The funny thing I have been hearing is all this sealed product is forming a bubble in the pokemon market and eventually its gonna burst. A ton of people are gonna get left holding the bag unfortunately.
I will always advocate for msrp, its a non fluctuating standard. Because relying on marketing price is how scalpers win. If none ever buys anyth8ng above msrp, a lot of scalpers would go out of business or switch businesses. Also I almost exclusively buy sealed product at real card shops, but that's cause I'm impatient and don't want to wait for packs to arrive.
The only sellers I will demonize are the ones canceling orders and resisting at the new higher prices, I will instead praise those who choose to still sell at msrp. Not deride those just selling ar market price
Idk its a bit of a weird take to say all people should only buy at msrp like thats even an option, he literally mentioned youd pay cheaper if market price was below msrp, so if you want something popular you gotta pay market price🤷🏼♂️ its quite simple really
@SEAN-es8xz i dont think it's really that weird of a take, I buy at my local shops regardless. I only go online for singles and stuff I can't find in person. If everything was at msrp, everyone could buy what they wanted in popular packs.i don't mind paying msrp for unpopular packs as well. The scalpers are a large part of the problem, and they will gouge popular sets. If none buys their gouged stock it would be better for the hobby.
@@SEAN-es8xzI think the reality of the situation has more nuance than ppl admit. Yes, the LCS are free to charge what they want, but ppl are also free to disagree with their prices and stop doing business with them. TH-camrs and social media has urged ppl for ages to stop buying from scalpers and support your local LCS. If your local LCS is getting a new product in bulk at below MSRP, then sell it for 4x market, what differentiates them from scalpers?
anyone can put whatever TF price they want on their cards. and you can take it or leave it. I can't stand people who get pissed off if someone over prices their own property.
Always buy at MSRP then all of the time. Stop being greedy and expecting stores to sell at a loss when the product isn’t hot then. These stores should definitely start standing up for themselves. You either want product at market all of the time, or MSRP all of the time. You don’t get to have it both ways anymore.
This market just shows how strong the economy and the Pokemon hobby are. This is a really good thing to see people. Here’s why. If you look at something that’s tied to a generation. For example, muscle cars were to the baby boomers. Point being. The generations that like Pokémon are very young still and as they age, the nostalgia will drive the demand and price for these items. Anyone who took care of a muscle car from the 60’s is sitting on a good profit right now. Thankfully a case of BB is much easier to store and keep safe. I have a strong feeling I won’t lose money over time as sealed product is opened. In my case i will by a case at $600 or $1200. I don’t care because I want it for when I’m old and will need it.
The problem with this whole thing is that Nintendo sells these cards to distributors in hopes that they sell their stock at msrp but a lot of card shops know how limited these print runs are and decide to make the most off of the limited supply while they can. It’s disgusting to see it happen early in the sets life because it’s just going to lead to more reprints and a ton of idiots are going to be sitting on mountains of overpriced sealed products until they basically get margin called and have to liquidate at lower prices. If you aren’t buying to rip right now you are part of the problem. Love y’all!
Well, if you didn’t want stores to sell at a loss 90% of the time, this stuff wouldn’t be an issue. When you’re buying booster boxes for $90-$100, the store is losing money. If you want MSRP so bad, pay MSRP all the time then. Booster boxes are $160 MSRP. The customer is just as greedy when they want the product dirt cheap as well. Stores are tired of always losing and I’ve been seeing more and more of them standing up for themselves.
Okay so I mean for a while now we were getting sets below MSRP. What changed? My guess is too many new people in the hobby, scalpers & investors plus not enough product to go around. Investors buy in large bulk and hoard while scalpers raid everything for a quick profit. So the market is messed up because of them. I collect but what I keep doesn't affect anyone cause it's for fun and I only keep a few sealed products which I don't resell. Investors need to stop hoarding cases of products and scalpers need to realize that they cause supply shortages because they are being greedy.
Solid take. The only thing you may have overlooked is the gambling degens are the "Timmy's". Watch any of these restock video under the context that they are gambling addicts and everything becomes clear.
I purchased S&V base set for $90 in early 2023. I purchased Lost Origin for $115 a few months prior. These prices were real and people did not capitalize. Surging Sparks is going to $500+, maybe even $1k. Don't miss out on good deals. As someone who has watched Alex since the beginning of his channel, the man speaks the truth.
It’s not that people didn’t capitalize it’s people weren’t in the hobby as they are now. There was a rush in 2024. That’s why those prices were cheap in 2023. There wasn’t as many people buying and they had to move product. That price would never happen in 2024.
@@DubC208for real. All these morons trying to say you can’t have it both ways. The buyer is always looking for the best deals they can get. Which is at or below msrp. The only time a seller sells at below msrp is because they can’t get rid of product. That is natural supply and demand. What isn’t natural is people with bots and scalpers artificially bottlenecking supply and then price gouging everyone when the set is barely getting released. Comparing apples to oranges but they’re too arrogant and ignorant to realize it.
I'm not mad about prices I just wish I could buy any product locally. All my box stores have no packs of any set. They get wiped for even sets people don't care about lol
I just remember the times where ETBs were about $55, Booster Boxes were about $128.50, and Booster Bundles were about $30-35. I just hope Journey Together is affordable not because of the collector side of things, but because it’s a Rotation Set and all the TCG Competitors are gonna want new Rotation product to update and upgrade their decks.
Honestly, I'm happy to pay MSRP. I think they're reasonable prices and I appreciate the consistency. Though, it's hard to blame people selling at market when its up. These are businesses after all, they do need to still make money.
Love this line: "The clothes you're wearing, the food you eat, the car you drive, the house you live in were all pennies on the dollar for what you payed for them. Why aren't you going after anybody in the entire world that is making a product or selling a product and is making a profit."
This comparison doesn’t really work. Everyday products like food or clothes have prices based on real costs-materials, labor, etc. Pokémon card prices are inflated by hype and market manipulation, not actual value. Profit is fine, but any LGS that gets product from a distributor and deliberately sells it at 2x market price or 4x MSRP absolutely deserves to lose customers.
@@dd-vThis dude is funny, LCS’s charge the literal market price, the price people pay, and you’re mad because of entitlement😭 the reason they do it is because people DO buy it and they DONT lose customers. Wisen up lol.
Not everyone is an investor, so you need to stop looking at everyone's point of view as though that's what motivates them or their opinions. People that just want to buy and open packs are always going to want the product at the cheapest they can get it. They don't care about MSRP, buying low/selling high, demand Vs product availability, market trends, and all that crap. They just want to enjoy the hobby they love, without having to deal with people punching eachother in stores, scalpers gauging people, and investors like you trying to shame them for wanting products at a reasonable price.
It takes over a year to gain trust and form a relationship with your distributor. You think he gets cases and cases of whatever is new after 2 months? He litteraly is having to pay market price for prismatic for his breaks because he got next to jothing from his distributor.@@noer.6954
They don't want to just enjoy the hobby they love. They want all the premium stuff that goes along with it. A competitive deck is extremely cheap. No. they want the hard to hit beautiful versions of the cards. There plenty of cards that are extremely cheap with crazy good art. There is plenty of stuff still under retail price! They want what's popular and hard to get. People at one point were paying over retail for Battle Styles you know. But because there became a lot of it, it went down in price and popularity. What do you think was going to happen when the sets coming out are better than anything we've ever see and are of most people's favorite pokemon.
Also he's talking to his audience. He has a focus of the kind of people he want as his audience. If you don't want to listen you are free to leave anytime. Telling him what perspective he should look from just makes you sound like an ass.
You have quickly become my favorite channel, from the awesome pack openings with the mystery slabs to the business advice to the attack on grown men crying about the state of the hobby. Keep calling it like it is Nomics!!!!!
It should always be msrp. You think Pokemon company wants their product to be hiked OR discounted at release? Small stores will ruin it for themselves because all the drama will just lead Pokemon to do more direct-to-consumer and supply more to big box stores instead.
I just watched a short video based off the 1st half of your video. Same scenario played out. Could not agree more with the premise of your video! Shout out/credit to the video you got the skit from though!
The tractor supply in my hometown went out of business years ago. They ran a huge sale on everything, and my grandpa totally scalped all their nails and screws. Just trying to do him proud by following in his footsteps.
I bought a box at my local LGS for 69.99 (1 per person). I pay for a membership annually. Without that, it's $109. I heard another shop go to Target and cleaned them out. I have mixed feelings. I don't even get mad anymore. I just buy something else or save the money.
Nobody with a brain is making the "MSRP" argument. Supply lines and limits are the problem. Collectors need better advocates and to be empowered. They are the ones screaming the loudest, and closed mouths don't get fed!
Lmao, it has nothing to do with supply and demand, nothing lol. It’s people realized they can make a ton of money selling Pokémon cards because buyers lack brain cells and pay anything for everything. The only people with brains are making the MSRP argument. There is no reason anyone should pay more than MSRP for a brand new product. It doesn’t make you special or cool to buy something for more than what it’s worth, it makes you stupid.
I’m just here minding my own business stocking up on Surging Sparks, Temporal and TM while all the crazies spend $120 on a box with $5 worth of hits in 🤷🏽
7:50 if you didn't care why are you making this video? I was starting to think this video was a response to negative comments and ig it only makes sense. I hope they keep coming
I gave up on prismatic til the CONFIRMED reprint, and picked up 125 lost origin sleeved booster packs(they are rising now) and a reverse holo charizard from legendary collection for my pc. There's always a play to make in pokemon.
finally found a video from you that I disagree with, are you in rattles restock chat? for clarification this is my view, I don't care if you disagree, I don't care if LCS continue to mark up products that are just released/available. I look at MSRP like a cap to keep stores in check, retail or not. You can sell lower to bring in customers, but under no circumstance for non-discontinued products should a store be selling higher than msrp. I don't care what your struggles are, how much work you have to do to sustain your business, how much you diversify your products, or what the resale market is doing. To me, that is none of my concern. MSRP exists for many reasons, it's not decoration. Can you imagine distros upcharging these stores and selling product to them at MSRP? Your argument and most people that defend new product mark-ups would support distros doing that crap. I will bounce my support all over the place to different stores where I can find product with good deals, or in this case at or near msrp. If stores can't make a profit selling product less than msrp then they have other issues they need to fix and it's not my problem. Everyone, continue doing what you're doing, if I see something I don't like I walk away, it's that simple. Hopefully my perspective adds some clarity to this.
I'd say that I agree with you in the situation where stores can actually get product for distribution price, the problem is many stores currently can't even get anything at MSRP let alone a price where they wouldn't lose money selling at that price.
I got to disagree with you. The store has a right to list their products at any price they want. If they choose to sell at msrp good for them. If they chose to try and cash in and sell at market price, that is their decision and their business. At the end of the day it’s a business and they are in it to make money. There are pros and cons for a business owner to list for msrp or market price. The same thing could be said for the business owner, they dont care what one customer thinks is wright or wrong. They are gonna do what they think is best for there business and if listing it at market is best for them, then that is there right
LGS/Online Card Stores charging X2, X3 above msrp on a brand new set is what’s contributing to the scalping of new product at retail stores who actually charge msrp…. But support your local card stores….
The issue I have are stores around me sell at MSRP during the bear market then sell at market during the bull market. Feels like when I take the high road on product prices the stores just price gauge down the road saying "distribution prices are sooooo high now!"
I gave my LGS a tip cuz they didn't charge more when they could be. They was very surprised said no one ever gave them a tip or thank them before for changing MSRP. I will try to buy at cheaper place but I always support my 2 LGS stores in my area.
Some time you have Luck some time you doint thats life respect the hobby and respect everbody and enjoy the hobby enjoy your video's always keep it going 🔥
I’m not this Timmy. I just want to open some packs from the brand new eevee set without having to break the bank. MSRP is what I have budgeted for Pokémon because I don’t buy booster boxes.
I pay a dollar over msrp at my lgs for packs, and usually 5 dollars over for the etbs they sell. Its fine because I support them and get my stuff same day. Prismatic comes out and they set them at 150. I just got back into the hobby and like to collect, not invest or resell. As a casual fan, I'm only going for easy to get sets, but seeing them set that price rubbed me a little wrong. Their main income is 90% board games and tabletop; their card section is a small portion of that, yet they want more. They got them at below msrp afterall from a distributor. I get though, because some scalper would just buy them all at msrp if they set it at that. It just means that I'm now buying online from Target for msrp. Again, I don't collect hyped sets. This is just the pov from a casual collector who wants to play a little. I don't want or buy surging sparks and 151, and if the price for prismatic stays high, I'll pass.
I agree with everything you said but two things; msrp at 160 for a BB is too high and BS, prices right now are BS. BB msrp should be lowered and should sell consistently at 120/130. That’s fair both ways
@ you totally missed the point. I’m not complaining about anything, the market is what it is. 160 for a box of Pokemon cards in any market is too high. Yes I understand inflation as well and the dollar has not been cut in half so keep the Timmy comments to yourself
Yeah you can do this with any product in America basically... People don't take advantage of that.... People lose their minds over this... Pokemon prices lol. Love your content man you absolutely right about all of it lol
Wow TH-cam, thanks for showing me a horrible video with a horrible take. I love the, “supply and demand” lol, no it has nothing to do with supply and demand. The problem is that so many people realized they can make large amounts of money selling Pokémon so they bought up and continue to buy all the new product so they can resell. Anyone paying more than MSRP for a brand new product lacks brain cells and common sense. The smartest thing that could happen is all buyers stop paying anything over MSRP on the new products, then all the resellers would have to sell for less than MSRP just so they don’t lose to much money. That won’t happen though because buyers have decided they don’t want to use their brains. Currently sellers know they can list any product for any price and someone is dumb enough to pay it. The reprint won’t do anything to help because it will just be bought up also, it has nothing to do with supply and demand. The best thing that could happen is all the resellers buy it all and then get stuck with it and lose everything.
This video is legit dedicated to his seller audience, so he's just preaching to his echo chamber to justify that behaviour. As you said, this has nothing to do with supply and demand when local stores are getting their product at the same exact price they always do from distributors, yet they want to sell at 4x LMAO
It has everything to do with supply and demand it’s the same reason moonbreon is $1,000 and not $10 if people want something and there’s not enough the price goes up and when people realize stores are selling for less than what the boxes are worth that’s when scalpers come into existence. The Pokémon company created the scalpers by under printing. They even purposely under printed sets starting with Temporal Forces, so yeah…
@@marcburch2633 You are comparing the price of one of the most rare and sought after single cards ever to a sealed product that is distributed largely to your local target. The reason the price of the card is so high is because its rarity and demand, yes. But the price of the sealed product being high is complete speculation. If you want to apply the supply and demand argument to resellers then sure, they will sell at high as they want... but we are talking about stores that have distributors, selling their product way above market price because why tf not.
@ no, you are completely wrong. Again, it’s resellers buying pallets and pallets of ETBs and the other product. They are buying it all at MSRP from stores or distributors because again, they know that buyers today are brainless and will pay anything. Sellers are making so much money right now and the majority of the surge of Pokémon currently aren’t even people that care for Pokémon, it’s to make money. Moonbreon is completely different, any single card is completely different from products like ETBs, etc. the fact that you tried to use Moonbreon as a comparison is awful lol. Thank you for explaining again you have no idea what you are talking about.
I appreciate your honesty! It’s frustrating when it feels like some people are more interested in profit than in the things they claim to care about. It seems like there are individuals who prioritize financial gain over true passion, even when it comes to something as beloved as Pokémon.
Well spoke! You cant “capitalism is bad snd evil” and “gimme gimme gimme” in the same breath. So sorry for trying to feed my family and open a store front for locals.
To be fair, you’re doing the same thing just the opposite side you’re saying that sellers should try to do what’s best for them. Well, the buyer should do what’s best for them. And bringing the price down is best for them.
@ dude I’m a capital I believe speak with your wallet and I’m not gonna fall for this crap to the sellers do it out of the goodness of their heart most of are selling stuff low price because they can’t get rid of it

These shops know their real customers
I genuinely don't understand how children are expected to afford 5 dollars a pack to begin with tbh. One pack should be 3 dollars, that's a fair price honestly
It's simple. It was affordable when I could find PrE at MSRP. It's too expensive for me on the open market, on top of the pull rates are too hard and i'm not willing to do 12/pack for a set that just released. The internet loves to say "vote with your wallet", so I am! I can afford it, i just don't think it's worth it TO ME.
The problem is people are clearing out stores and charging more. I’ll pay whatever Target and Walmart are selling for. Period Cards don’t need to be “Chased” they need to be collected and enjoyed
Then the Pokemon hobby will die. There’s a reason why card stores are focusing more and more on Magic. Magic is a players game, Pokemon is a collectors game.

You’re too focused on MSRP vs Market price. You’re ignoring the scummy practices. Completely glossing over it actually. Of course every consumer is going to want what benefits them lol. Just like every seller does exactly the same. The fact that a new set goes 2-3x the price on day 0 it’s just a problem. Period dude. It will kill the hobby period. No matter what other irrelevant examples you’re trying to compare it to like necessities.
I’m pretty sure Pokémon will still be around when all the complainers leave. This isn’t the first time pokemon been through this. This happen during XY era, during covid and now. Guess what it bounce back stronger than ever each time.

Papa bless and amen

@ Its greed. That's why this guy is selling prismatic for $15 a pack on his website (25% over market price). Idk why your trying to defend that lol.
MSRP is fine with me. If Pokemon could print and sell everything themselves at MSRP for every set no matter what, i'd be fine with that. They would still eventually stop printing the set and it would go up. But it would be MSRP until they stop. That's my ideal world lol.
Don’t always agree with your options but this is spot on…. Great take on the Timmys complaining for the sake of complaining
Most TH-camrs selling prismatic: msrp
Nostalgia selling prismatic: 15$ a pack
People who are feeding scalpers arent helping reduce the cost.
good, set has like double what evolving skies offers total value wise. why should it be msrp
@@KhoaNguyen-ty9tw beautifully said .
By that logic shrouded fable offers lots of value for top cards yet its cheap.
People who say this sells cards for more than market when they sell. Don't hate the player hate the game.
Dudes trying so hard in this yap session to justify selling his prismatic at $15 a pack (25% above market price lmao).
@@chaudspieler 🤦♂️
Perfect example of what happens at every card shop every day 😅
Good lord I don’t know why I watch your videos anymore.
i generally stopped watching him aswell hes gotten so annoying
Would love to buy evolving skies or Team up for MSRP.
The problem is that these people buy up everything so no one else can buy from retail stores.
Not economics 101, it’s stupid ppl ripping ppl off com on now smh
I know card shops that are struggling right now to sell what they got. That's what they get for scalping.
06:43 Team Rocket Blasts Off Again! 😅

This comparison doesn’t really work. Everyday products like food or clothes have prices based on real costs-materials, labor, etc. Pokémon card prices are inflated by hype and market manipulation, not actual value. for clarification this is my view, I don't care if you disagree, I don't care if LCS continue to mark up products that are just released/available.
They are gonna do what they think is best for there business and if listing it at market is best for them, then that is there right
@@joeybrown567 I never said it wasn't their right, I just made the argument for why I believe stores should abide by the MSRP as a cap.
LGS/Online Card Stores charging X2, X3 above msrp on a brand new set is what’s contributing to the scalping of new product at retail stores who actually charge msrp…. But support your local card stores….
I'll always trust locals' choice of prices over ebay. Cause I know they got my back when I need it
Love it! Sold my costco Blooming for Market price 🥳
The issue I have are stores around me sell at MSRP during the bear market then sell at market during the bull market. Feels like when I take the high road on product prices the stores just price gauge down the road saying "distribution prices are sooooo high now!"
Omg you just hit the nail on this video. Just absolutly perfect. This is exacly how it is.
My guy Alex spittin 🔥💪🏼
Havent watched a more true video of the current climate of the hobby than this one!

This guy the truth, my favorite Pokémon channel
The same thing happened with sneaker resale couple of years back at the start of the hype. Gives me extra good hope for the investing side of Pokemon🎉
@Bman_12 such a timmy. If you understood that the dolla has halfed, therfore thing cost twice as much or slowly will You'll like msrp then.... LMFAO
@ you totally missed the point. I’m not complaining about anything, the market is what it is. 160 for a box of Pokemon cards in any market is too high. Yes I understand inflation as well and the dollar has not been cut in half so keep the Timmy comments to yourself
@@MountMoonCandy idiot u think ur smart, everyone is a genius in a bull market
I paid market price at my local car shop. I’m happy. 🎉
@@marcburch2633 Using a single card as a comparisson is literally braindead
I love to hear this! Nice video bro! 💯
I appreciate your honesty! It’s frustrating when it feels like some people are more interested in profit than in the things they claim to care about. It seems like there are individuals who prioritize financial gain over true passion, even when it comes to something as beloved as Pokémon.
Nailed it!
i prefer market pricing, but im still not gonna buy stuff above msrp 😂
I've been waiting so long for someone to say it lol. Thanks Alex 💪🏽
Well spoke! You cant “capitalism is bad snd evil” and “gimme gimme gimme” in the same breath. So sorry for trying to feed my family and open a store front for locals.
My LGS is still selling Paldea Evolved and Obsidian Flames just under MSRP. I get Obsidian Flames for 140 and Paldea Evolved for 150 regularly.
Your LGS is not like most good for them.
To be fair, you’re doing the same thing just the opposite side you’re saying that sellers should try to do what’s best for them. Well, the buyer should do what’s best for them. And bringing the price down is best for them.
To be fair the buyer has always did what was best for themselves. Only the sellers sometimes make the choice to take a hit for their customers.
@ dude I’m a capital I believe speak with your wallet and I’m not gonna fall for this crap to the sellers do it out of the goodness of their heart most of are selling stuff low price because they can’t get rid of it
@@gamecubeman5665 my local shop always prices all their products below market price, and it is always busy. I master every set and dont mind paying full price because it convenient and tax free to buy it in person and they know i will pay the full price, and they still give me a discount after i already agreed to pay beforehand. These shops know their real customers
But taking the most extreme examples of people buying product gets views! You get to make money, and act morally superior.
I genuinely don't understand how children are expected to afford 5 dollars a pack to begin with tbh. One pack should be 3 dollars, that's a fair price honestly
It’s called inflation and yeah it hurts children and unemployed people to insane degrees
MSRP isn't some natural mathematical constant. Pokémon made it.
Period
Cards don’t need to be “Chased” they need to be collected and enjoyed
