When I was younger I used to LOVE Dance Moms, but now looking at clips and old footage, I’m just now realizing how toxic the show was. The amount of unnecessary stress and pressure the girls were put under was so unhealthy.

I don't think the zieglers were legally allowed to talk about it for a while, plus we don't know what happened behind the scenes as Abby had a different relationship with them (especially Melissa) than the other moms and kids.
Well they were kinda mentally abused there so I’d get why they want to leave the past and move on. It’s different for everyone, so maybe nia doesn’t mind looking back 🤷♀️

I luv how nia is so positive about all of these old dances and memories, it's hard to see the positive in things when there were hard times but I'm glad she was so happy seeing herself and she was just to nice to her younger self

I actually liked it. If you refer to a racial issue let me tell you that the industry will stereotype you as a dancer according to age, race, size, etc, and you must be ready and open to it.

@@almagoh8436 well I mean yes type casting exists however thats based on physicality and not really past dances. Like they wouldn't look at a black dancer and say, great we need a balck dancer for this role but have they dance to laquefa because if they haven't they aren't prepared. What they need is quick learners and technically skilled dances but Abby would often focus on "ethnic dances" which are less technically challenging then other dancers which is saying her up to fail in the real world.and as a black dancer you are inherently ready to be typecast because we understand the industry we are going into you don't need to only put a student in typecast roles to prepare them for that.
I miss Nia on Dance Mom's she was so sweet and Abby treated her like crap. I'm so glad she has a youtube channel I can't wait to see new choreography.

Honestly Nia is an inspiration. She inspired me because I was so used to seeing white dancers doing the "pretty dances" and black dancers doing hip-hop. She showed me that poc's CAN do both. I was really young coming to this realization, but I'm so glad that she did it.
I love Dr. Holly. She has so much pride and joy and so much happiness just watching her daughter excell at dance. You can just see the love she has for her and how proud she is radiate out of her. Such a beautiful mother and daughter combo. Nia is so loved and they are just so proud of everything about her as a person a dancer,and singer. Shes all around a well rounded talented,sweet, caring, intelligent, and wonderful personal woman. Love you Nia!
Also love to add after how much she was always on the back burner and put down by abby, she turned out with so much self love and pride. Her mothers love was stronger than the hate. She poured so much of it into her it cancelled out all that negativity and ugliness. Amazing!

Nia you are such a lovely soul. It has to be a wonderful feeling to be able to look back at all your phases of life and how advanced everyone was with dancing and acrobatics. When I was in Dancing School, we weren't anywhere near how advanced you all are back then!! Clearly GIFTED dancers. Abby loved each one of you dearly and one thing for sure, neither of you would ever be in her Dance School or Team if you didn't make the cut. She only accepted winners and you sweetheart are definitely a winner in life. You and your beautiful Mother Holly are class acts all the way from start to finish. Always contained and carried yourselves with dignity. Awesome and so Talented Nia.

Something about dance moms was that when Maddie started the show she was small but had complicated eligant dances. Then when Kenzie reached that age she was still dancing like a 6 year old. I don’t get it.
Maddie was on a whole another level. She really was amazing not that Kenzie was bad.
Because Maddie did mostly lyrical. In lyrical, it’s mostly mature pieces and concepts. Acro (especially the way Abby choreographed it) was a lot more childish and immature. Both were good at what they did though.
Every dancer on the show was good at what they did, they’re all talented.
