Peter Jones: "Firth of Fifth" & "Hygge"

- Here's Pete with a cracking choice of material, originally put together for the "Prog from Home" Concert, aired by the Prog Report on Saturday the 9th May, 2020
I filmed this in Pete's back garden during the Covid-19 Corona Virus Lock-down, under the rules of Social Distancing. The performance was live and the sound recording was created using two Olympus digital recorders, one for the keyboard, the other for the vocals.
I used two DSLR's, one mounted, the other freehand. I also used a DJI Mavic Mini drone. The footage was originally put together by Pete's studio colleagues and sent to the Prog Report, who were highly delighted with the result.
This is my own edit of the same material.
I hope you enjoy Pete with e quick bit of Genesis, and then an original song taken from his Tiger Moth Tales album (The Depths of Winter) called "Hygge"

Peter is amazing. What a locely voice and piano touch.
Absolutely fantastic. I'm not surprised no neighbours opened angrily their window to shout "shuuuuuuuut uuuuuup". Even the birds in the background seem to have become more quiet. I'm sure the neighbourhood isn't really minding should Corona strike again and lock down be imposed again, this man nails Genesis perfectly.

In Light of the sad news of David’s parting, this recording of Pete helps restore my soul at this time and feeling of sadness and profound loss.
I heard this phenomenal musician in a Camel's concert a few years ago, it is illegal for one person to have so many musical skills!
I saw him playing keyboards, Saxophone, singing...I mean Andrew Latimer is one of the greatest guitar players in my opinion and a wonderful songs writer, so being able to shine beside him means something.

I had never heard of this guy before until I heard Hygge on Zenith Rock and it literally stopped me dead in my tracks!!! I inevitably did some research and have been hooked ever since, This is a wonderful video and for me, as an avowed Genesis fan, the intro of Firth of Fifth is sublime!!! What a talent!!!!!

Wow that voice!
The Prog from Home concert video (this same performance) is where I first heard Peter Jones and I've watched many of his videos since then. He has a warmth in his voice and instrumental skills that is very attractive and makes me pause and listen in this hectic life. I have found myself replaying this video several times every month to remind myself that beauty and inspiration still exist. Pull up a chair by the fire and listen to his tales...

Completely agree - he has added a stunning dimension to Camel. Not only as good as Pete Bardens but able to add a vocal strength that Camel have really benefitted from.

I had never come across Pete's skills before I stumbled over his marvellous contribution to Camel's Albert Hall concert - wow! What a fine combination of keyboard skills and vocals?! But this is goes further. This is balm for the troubled soul. What a voice, never mind that the fingers are nimbly cascading over the keys!

I'm speechless. Growing up listening to Genesis on crackle laden vinyl, headphones on in the dark of my teenage bedroom, this is the closest I've ever got to recreating those times. Thank you Pete, and to think you're no more than 3 miles from that teenage bedroom makes my spine tingle even more.

Just, wow. The feeling and emotion from the opening piano grabbed me, it is not often I hear something performed so much more musically than the original. Once the vocal started I was perplexed, because i could not identify the Genesis song, and I didn’t remember any of them being that sweet. I now realize it is original, obviously influenced by Gabriel era Genesis, and I looked up the cd it is from, but I’m afraid this version is more beautiful than his actual release. Just wonderful, thank you!
