@Harry Soo - really appreciated all of your videos! Just picked up my first ever pellet smoker (EX6) did the assembly and burn-in for 1hr. Noticed the heat baffle isn't "black" as you mentioned in the video. I did wipe w/ paper towel before inserting. Mine is "brown". Lots of "stuff" flaked off, and I scrubbed the entire box down AFTER the burn in, as white residue was all over the place. Also, my unit came w/ a Rev E motor, not sure about the other updates. Running 04025 FW, so looking forward to actually using it!
Yes you have the latest firmware as mine which I downloaded yesterday. The baffle or deflector will get black over time. Don't worry about the finish. I don't clean mine.
I end up keeping mine have learned to use it pretty good. I keep the fat cap down help guard it from the heat took the piece of wire they have in the pellet shoot out which helps keep the pellets from binding and biggest thing is I bought a couple baking sheet pans which I put on the flavorizer bars to catch the grease and stop the ash from being blown up during slow cooks really helped with the flare ups which in turn stop the fluctuation in temperature
So it's the chute that needs a change order. Similar to how foosball can be manipulated to fall a certain way, the auger will release from a certain side and pellets will fall towards the opposite way. Hence we have a hotter right-hand side of the grill.. Great video.
Hi Coach, hope all is well with you and your family. Cooked 6 butts for my lil guys birthday party last weekend that we, of course cancelled. Hi Harry - if you hold the knob button in for a few seconds. It will bring you straight to the shutdown option. It’s a nice way to do it instead of going through the menus. Why did you get another EX6? Did the new EX6 come with the welded auger/chute assembly?
Thanks for the faster shutdown tip! I am getting old and lazier so I need a push-button pit versus all my other manual pits. It cooks as well as my other Webers with zero efforts. Both of mine are Gen-1. I suspect the Gen-2 builds will have the new chute and hopper insert.
Great job Harry. I posted a video about what you should do after the burn in. There's some ash that builds up, as expected since the grill just ran for 40 minutes at 600°F. If you're doing a low and slow the ash should be swept into the holes where it'll fall to the drip tray to be discarded.
Thanks Dennis. Glad you liked it and my hope is to ease the anxiety of others who need to assemble theirs and install the glow plug as well as show the underlying construction and mechanics of a pellet cooker. It is more complex than a stick burner, drum, kamado or WSM.

This one is still throwing a lot of ash into the grease channels. It seems like this will still clog and have grease fires in some situations. Pausing and looking a the grease and ash catching pan area there isn't enough correctly designed airflow to direct the ash into that trap, and honestly I don't see how that could work anyway for the ash, it will follow the heat and flame flow. Thank you for your great videos and products!!!!!!!
