I am Colombian, and I went to India when i was four. Lived there nearly 6 years and god was I fascinated with your gods and stories. They captivated my imagination for all the time I was there. Don't want to sound disrespectful but they really were like my super heroes. Loved the comics telling their origins or just the animations. This movie for me was a work of art and every story I imagined playing with my toys or with my home made "sword" was based on the legend of prince rama. I also remembered loving riding in rickshaws cause the drivers would have so many images of the gods. My room even had a baby christ and next to it, Ganesha, so they would become friends.

I'm from Myanmar and I watched this back then in my childhood, when I was 8. I think it was around 2007. Yet, I still remember that one line "O.. Hanuman" 😭❤. What a nostalgic Ramayana animation. This is the movie that introduced "Rmayana" to me. I'm searching this for my entire life and now, finally I've found it.

I still remember this movie use to telecast on dussera and Diwali at 8 in evening on cartoon network and forgetting everything i used to sit in front of tv and watch it having sweets and farsaan.....wish to go back in that golden days everything was pure and real back then😭😭😭😭

I can only imagine what the cancelled Mahabharat movie would've been if only this was allowed to be shown in cinemas
As a catholic even I love this old version so much. Thanks to adipurushs rubbish VFX and animation I'm here to re watch this beautiful innocent movie. The generation today will never know of this innocence. Hollywood has made everyone mental.

That's Aham = I. All Sanskrut songs n lyrics great. And matras as well. Hindi version they have put spoken Hindi Ham. And parsi Urdu mix in dialogues as well.

I remember watching this on Cartoon Network and Pogo channel in 1998 to 2004 ish.... It was the best ramayan version ever made and shown.... and this movie has ever since stayed with me since. Today almost near 30 and this is still my most favorite movie watch...
On Wikipedia page, it has been updated that this movie will be re-released with 4K remastering in theaters and OTT. Hopefully it will get re-released in India also.

This will forever remain the best screenplay ever made on Valmiki Ramayana. It's amazing to know how Yuko Sako made it so perfectly even during those years when people didn't know much about animations. Each and every character has been perfectly depicted and presented in their original form. Especially, the fighting sequences are so spine-chilling and beautifully done. Hanumanji is shining 🌟 bright like a diamond 💎 Shri Ram and all the warriors have been created beautifully keeping their originality intact. This was a wonderful gift from Japan to India. A gift which should be shared with the entire world. I grew up seeing this movie on cartoon network. Such a wonderful description of our culture by their(Japanese). It shows how wonderful our Ramayan is. Love this masterpiece. The people who say Ramayan was a myth should get admitted to a mental hospital. Because Ram reciedes in everyone . No proofs are required to showcase if Ram was there or not.
We need this in the theatres. The anime direction has more feelings and expressions than the entire cast of adipurush. The mixture of two cultures Japanese and Indian truly made a masterpiece ❤

As a french guy who read one piece and berserk, and who just now discovered the ramayana story (only via this movie, I didn't read the original), I spotted that these mangas took a lot of inspiration from the ramayana ; I listed some moments where I recognized some similarities, which I don't know if they are in the real ramayana or just this adaptation : - 48:47 The vanara army flag clearly looks like the sun pirates flag in one piece, a crew of fishmen who believe that joyboy will come back and save them, kind of like how rama helped sugriva take back his throne. -54:38 Hanuman getting his powers back and immediatly testing it against a sea monster reminds me of luffy throwing his first real jet pistol in the very beginning of his journey. Also there are a lot of one piece theories stating that luffy was inspired by hanuman (which is, by the way, the main reason why I decided to finally watch the ramayana).Also, Hanuman getting gigantic reminded me of luffy's fists getting gigantic as well in some of his moves like the gear 3rd. -1:32:29 Kumbhakarna, "the mightiest warrior of lanka", reminded me of Kaido in One Piece, "earth's mightiest creature", also the mace that he uses is similar to the one kaido uses. - 1:58:20 Finally, king Ravana reminds me of Emperor Ganishka in Berserk, who reigns over the kushan people, demons similar to the rakshasas in the ramayana. His gigantic transformation, also alterning the sky, that gets thunderous, is also similar to Ganishka's transformation. - As some theories state that Luffy is inspired by hanuman, I think he is also inspired by rama, who is Vishnu's avatar, kind of like Luffy could be called Joyboy's avatar, as he inherited his will by eating his devil fruit. Do you also think these are indeed inspirations that Miura Kentaro and Oda Eiichiro took from the Ramayana epic ? Did you spot other similarities with the ramayana in these mangas, or other mangas ? There are many animes that use references from ancient Hindu history. In Naruto they've used "Chakra" which are various focal points, "Indra" in Hinduism is god of thunder and rain , "Ashura" are referred to power seeking clans that are sometimes anti-god , Sasuke's hawk is named "Garuda" who is a hawk that helped Rama in Ramayana and tons of references from Hinduism in Naruto

This will forever remain the best screenplay ever made on Valmiki Ramayana. It's amazing to know how Yuko Sako made it so perfectly even during those years when people didn't know much about animations. Each and every character has been perfectly depicted and presented in their original form. Especially, the fighting sequences are so spine-chilling and beautifully done. Hanumanji is shining 🌟 bright like a diamond 💎 Shri Ram and all the warriors have been created beautifully keeping their originality intact. God bless everyone who poured their heart and soul in this creation.

This was a wonderful gift from Japan to India. A gift which should be shared with the entire world. I grew up seeing this movie on cartoon network. Such a wonderful description of our culture by their(Japanese). It shows how wonderful our Ramayan is. Love this masterpiece. The people who say Ramayan was a myth should get admitted to a mental hospital. Because Ram reciedes in everyone . No proofs are required to showcase if Ram was there or not.

As a french guy who read one piece and berserk, and who just now discovered the ramayana story (only via this movie, I didn't read the original), I spotted that these mangas took a lot of inspiration from the ramayana ; I listed some moments where I recognized some similarities, which I don't know if they are in the real ramayana or just this adaptation :
- 48:47 The vanara army flag clearly looks like the sun pirates flag in one piece, a crew of fishmen who believe that joyboy will come back and save them, kind of like how rama helped sugriva take back his throne.
-54:38 Hanuman getting his powers back and immediatly testing it against a sea monster reminds me of luffy throwing his first real jet pistol in the very beginning of his journey. Also there are a lot of one piece theories stating that luffy was inspired by hanuman (which is, by the way, the main reason why I decided to finally watch the ramayana).Also, Hanuman getting gigantic reminded me of luffy's fists getting gigantic as well in some of his moves like the gear 3rd.
-1:32:29 Kumbhakarna, "the mightiest warrior of lanka", reminded me of Kaido in One Piece, "earth's mightiest creature", also the mace that he uses is similar to the one kaido uses.
- 1:58:20 Finally, king Ravana reminds me of Emperor Ganishka in Berserk, who reigns over the kushan people, demons similar to the rakshasas in the ramayana. His gigantic transformation, also alterning the sky, that gets thunderous, is also similar to Ganishka's transformation.
- As some theories state that Luffy is inspired by hanuman, I think he is also inspired by rama, who is Vishnu's avatar, kind of like Luffy could be called Joyboy's avatar, as he inherited his will by eating his devil fruit.
Do you also think these are indeed inspirations that Miura Kentaro and Oda Eiichiro took from the Ramayana epic ? Did you spot other similarities with the ramayana in these mangas, or other mangas ?
