- This video the "Impact of Applying Early Decision, Early Action & Regular Admissions on Your Financial Aid ." We discuss how you apply affects your financial aid awards you will receive from the colleges you apply to."Early decision plans are binding - a student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend the college. Early action plans are non-binding - students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1. According to the National Association for College Admission Counseling, early action means that "students apply early and receive a decision well in advance of the institution's regular response date. Financial aid is money to help pay for college or career school. Grants, work-study, loans, and scholarships help make college or career school affordable. Students applying for restrictive early action or single-choice early action indicate to a college that it's their first-choice school by signing an agreement that they will file just one early application at a private institution. Early action is a non-binding process that allows you to apply, and potentially gain admission, to one or more schools earlier than regular applicants. As an early action applicant, you usually have until November 1 or 15 to submit admissions materials. Early decision (ED) or early acceptance is a common policy used in college admissions in the United States for admitting freshmen to undergraduate programs. It is used to indicate to the university or college that the candidate considers that institution to be his or her top choice.

Is the financial aid calculator video unavailable now?
thx Ed! PCTI class of 2024
My niece missed all deadlines even may 1 she still got full merit scholarship. Making this whole process confusing.
Great Video
Thank you for watching
ED purports to be binding, but it really isn't. Why? Because a person under the age of 18 (most applicants) is not competent to enter into a contract.
What can be done if early decision scholarship deadline was missed? Is there any other way to get money??
Where I can find scholarships for my son ?
I am an international student, I applied for Ed and missed the financial aid deadline of November. It is now November 5 can I solve this problem?
I have received conflicting info regarding ED. I am divorced. Admission officer told me go to school calculator to estimate aid. The calculator uses only my income. It specifically address divorced parents on the calculator page. However the school asks for CSS profile. CSS asks for both parents income. Suggestions? Thoughts?
Hi If the College uses the CSS Profile it is likely they want both parents info. So to better use the Net Price Cal add both parents' info onto it.
So new to this; application for these colleges happen in Senior year, right? You submit your transcripts from 9th-11th grade?
Yes and some and all colleges want your final transcript once you graduate and a lot of them also want your mid-year senior grades too.
Great information.
Just suggest to go a little slow cause everything is new to me.

My son apply early action university mail my son convert to ur application ed. but after that he recived waiting list. What he didi and how many chance Gettysburg college. Regards
Wish they would standardize the process. This is too arbitrary and "holistic ".
ED is not fair to the student. All the advantages are to the university. The highly sought after schools can compel students to give up their right to comparison shop by giving the student the notion that they better apply via ED to have the best chance of being accepted.
Unfortunately it is that way that's true.
