In the present episode, our "journey" (starting from December 2023) through the fair in Humulesti, the successor of the fairs in Târgu Neamt, continues through the sectors with agricultural products, from verdure and vegetables as they are taken out of the ground, to partially processed cereals, to the products that require somewhat more advanced processing, such as cold-pressed sunflower oil. As in the case of other goods, there are some producers-sellers who come from greater distances, tens of kilometers, Târgu Neamt being located exactly on the border between the mountain area and the plain, plus tradition (we remember Ion Creanga who tried to sells hoopoe, the village clock, but at that time the fair was located at the foot of the Neamț Fortress, and now it is in Humulesti, on the other bank of the Ozana. The fair is also called ”obor” (cattle fair), and this name should mean animal fair, but the bazaar with everything takes the place of animals. Of course, apart from the horses that pull the carts of the householders who come to the fair from the neighboring villages, as an exception, we also find some "animals", more precisely "flying" ones in the form of partially plucked roosters (naturally), recommended by Lucian Georgescu as very good for making meat jelly. The cereal sector is well represented and we see a lot of bags of wheat, corn, barley, oats, both in the form of grains and partially ground in the form of groats, plain or in fodder mixture for animal feed, but also wheat flour for bread and especially, maize (coarse corn flour) for the ancestral polenta.
