Also, Toki only lacked the strength to hit Raoh's pressure points, due to Raoh's massive strength, toughness, and body, even after pushing the pressure point to increase his strength and use Raoh's style. However, he was able to easily hit Kenshiro's pressure points at his normal strength. Toki was not afraid to fight Souther in the series, knowing he could probably kill him, since he knew he was going to die himself anyway, surviving wouldn't have mattered to him.
Toki’s matter is a lot more complicated because he is supposed to be the true successor of HK, but his illness took him to another path. Moreover, While Toki was in his healthy shape before the nuclear war, Raoh was looking at him as the only equal and opponent, not Kenshiro. But what happened is that Ruyken has forseen Toki’s destiny as it was mentioned in the series which led him to displace Toki from the succession of HK and made him look to the other two brothers and which one is more worthy than the other. Therefore, he put them in Tiger’s test and you of course already know the outcome of it.
Yes, it was. Souther was voiced by Banjo Ginga! That guy's like the Japanese version of James Earl Jones, a voice just doesn't get any deeper than that...

The original anime voice actor was much cooler. Also licking his blood doesn't seem like something Kenshiro would do - although I've only seen 20 episodes of the anime so far. I also like the way they drew him in the old ones, looks more righteous.
Instead of remaking ALL the old episodes of Hokuto no ken, they are better off spending their time finishing where they left off on Hokuto no ken 3. The original one is far better.

Maaan, to be honest I think the kung fu roars from ken have been degraded here. It's not as intense as the old and retro series. It sounds effortless compared to the older series, and it has been digitally edited in a weird way. but otherwise, the visuals are fantastic, and I really love the new designs, and the animation isn't bad considering the amount of detail there is.

But the intresting thing is, I'm not sure if I could play it. I did find like another season of that 5 part series Fist of The Blue Sky but it said that it was only able to be played by a DVD Player that was from another region, a region 2 and some type of encoding. That meant it has to be played by a DVD Player thats Japanese or something like that. I'm not sure if I should get Fist of The Blue Sky because I'm afraid it won't work but I shouldn't be negative and maybe I should give it a try.
I don't think they've been officially released stateside yet. The only onese that I know are available are the original 2 tv series, the '86 movie, & the New Fist of the North Star trilogy. I don't know why the 5 part remake and Fist of the Blue Sky haven't been released yet. But if I read anything about it I'll pass it along.
if anyone wants the ORIGINAL fist of the north star, episodes 1-152 are available on Isohunt.com. Thats where its really at, and Souther is a better figher than Kenshiro, but obviously ken has to win in the end cos the story is about him, but in the original, Souther smashes ken up within an inch of his life and could have killed him easy.

@ussumane22 That's not fair...i'm a girl and I looooooooooooooove this anime. FOTNS (Streamline vers.) was the very first anime I EVER watched. I fell in love with Rei. I love gory anime. I can't stand fluff. I don't like Ken's voice much in this one though. His orig voice is miles better.
...the same reason every fucking large guy is like a baby compared to any of the nanto or hokuto guys: endurance. Simple punches wont work on either of them. Nanto solves it by slicing, hokuto by pressure points. And Kenshiro IS puching him to, he's just not feeling it.
Souther's skill level is very low compared to Kenshiro, the only reason Kenshiro couldn't beat him here is because Souther's organs' location are the opposite of normal human. The second time they fight Kenshiro just own his ass.

Pummeling is wasting a hell of a lot of energy. Pressure points optimize the use of physical strength. That's why most MAs have vital or pressure points.
What's the problem? Kenshiro was created as a mix of Mel Gibson from Mad Max and Bruce Lee, so it not suprising that people see the resemblence! Also, being comepered to the greatest anime carakter or the createst Real Life Fighter is nothing bad, regardless at how you look at it.
heh, just spotted a goof, check out 0:42 - 0:43, Souther's shirt isn't covering his stomach....however in the rest of the fight his shirt is shown covering everything.
Agreed, the new remakes all pretty much suck completely. You should see how they ruined Rei's intro. It just doesn't have the same feeling that made Hokuto No Ken so good in the first place. IMO if you want good new HNK-style stuff you're best off reading the Souten no Ken manga. All these spinoffs/remakes are rubbish!

Good video, but this new edition of HNK is not as good as the original one... Music, voices, facial expressions of the characters are just bad.
