  • In today's video I remove everything from the front braking system in prep for rebuilding the calipers, master cylinder and replacing the front brake lines. I'm really liking having a bike to just tip away at again.

I have many bits ordered for the valkyrie. I'm really hoping I'll have it test started by the end of the month depending on how everything goes.

All thanks to Toaster for the emergency assistance!!! Timely vid for me as I will be doing breaks soonish (currently in a hotel as we have no kitchen or bathroom, builders in and project going really well but can't get near bike jobs just yet). Great to see solutions and methods for obstinate fasteners, stuck pistons, etc. Good to see I'm not the only "silly goose" too 😅 The bike was saying "thank you for removing the gunk" with the whiney noise we heard 😊 OC - car stuff not my thing, but I can see a second channel being useful and your style will, I'm sure, attract a good audience. Looking forward to the next vids, cheers, Andy.

Haha I was literally stuck down there holding the two calipers and thought....crap...HEEEEEELP :D
Well there's also full bleeding videos and rebuilding videos on the channel if you ever do need any of them :)
Ah lovely, hopefully it's all finished up soon and you can relax a bit :) Haha plenty of silly gooses out there don't worry :P
Breathing a sigh of relief eh :D
Well, you'd never know, I should probably just focus on trying to get views up on this channel eh :D Thanks Andy!

Nice toque! Did it get properly cold all the way down there, too? I think you may have said it earlier, but are you planning to put steel braided lines on? I watched a video recently that claimed there’s no performance difference between normal lines (rubber, I guess) and the steel braided, so long as you change the rubber ones before they deteriorate. That seemed to run contrary to popular opinion, which I found interesting. It’ll be fun to see that beast running!

Thanks! It wasn't terrible, the lowest was 18! Already ordered :) Technically when both are brand new the difference may be negligible, but steel are generally guaranteed for life whereas rubber lines have an actual recommended life span of 2 years. From my hand feel I will also say I have always noticed a difference in feedback from steel. Plus they don't literally won't expand even under heat, so all round better imo. I cannot wait to get it running :)

Carries the weight of the channel like a pro.

I hope you were using a Japanese spec screwdriver. You do know the tips are different from SAE.

I put air in where the banjo bolt and it pops the piston out

Yeah I used to do that, but I don't have a compressor or easy access to one since I moved sadly :(

    Valakry! xD hahahahah xD
So far my experience with reservoir screws is that they have a life span of 3 openings... Or maybe the Royal Star was just old. She is old anyway xD
Oh what was the gnarliest brake fluid I've seen in quite some time.
Needs you some roller seat? My mechanic got some cart wheels and adapted them to a bike seat and a welded structure.
    CONTAMINATED PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

      Valkry? Que?
Nah they'd be better if people were even slightly careful with them, or they are just old, when they're old I'll allow it :)
      Yeah it was baaaaaaaaaaad.
Yeah a roller seat would be nice, I'd definitely just buy one tho :D
      Yes. Very :P

Little steps. Wonderful chunky callipers, real period pieces, but rather small pads 🤔. The whole bike is a time capsule of a time when there was more individual styling. Would you be better off with a fixed focus camera ? Good work by Toaster yet again. Another job ticked off, I await the next with interest. Not sure about two channels. I see pros, and cons. If doing cars brings more viewers would it be better to have them adding to the volume of one channel? If car people come maybe they too will watch some of the bike stuff if they are interested in "wrenching"? So many questions . . . . 👍

Yes indeed, and apparently they're very effective too at stopping he big beast. It really is, when manufacturers took more chances and hit more than missed imo.
Possibly. But I have this one for photos anyway so I'll just make it work. She's very good behind the camera!
Ah I'll probably not do it, it'd be a massive amount of effort and editing is my least favourite part of all this 😂

Older car content would be interesting. I would watch it.
I am enjoying the Valkyrie recomissioning content too. That brake fluid looked just nasty.

Well I have a heap of Suburban stuff I have to fix soon so I'll try record it if you're interested :)
It was absolutely disgusting, 3 of the 4 front pistons are literally frozen in place too.
