I remember being kid watching this movie late at night. I had no idea what I just watched and was just confused the entire time. Now imagine trying to explain to another person what you just saw.
I had forgotten about this movie but the second I saw the aliens in the thumbnail a lond forgotten memory sparked in the back of my mind. God I miss the weird but fun Disney Channel movies. "Don't Look Under the Bed", "Halloweentown" (not the series), "The Thirteenth Year", "Smart House", and "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" are among my favorites.
More like the other way around because this movie aired in 1999. The original book series ended in December of 1997 and Goosebumps Series 2000 was the current series.
omg I remember watching this as a kid. My brain just got sent all the way back in time,. You should deff do "Don't Look Under the Bed" , thats a classic, which I didn't know scared other kids so badly they pulled it early.
I have to thank you. So much. I watched this movie as a child but never knew the name of it. And as time went on, I forgot more and more details until literally all I could really recall were the little brother and bully being imprisoned in an oddly green cell. That was it. And no matter how much I tried, how many Disney Channel Original Movie reviews I watched, I never came across it. I was just beginning to think I had made a lot of it up, or that what I remembered was a case of my brain mixing multiple movies into one. So to finally learn, to finally know, that I'm not crazy and that thiis movie actually does exist I feel so relieved. I'm so glad I encountered your Goosebumps videos, because without them I wouldn't have been given this video. I never would have seen that stupid little slime alien and gone "Wait a second, that thing looks familiar" and then proceeded to get smacked in the face with how much I know from this movie. The main character (particularly with the fire extinguisher(?) stuff on him), the camera angles, the little boy with the tin foil hat, Barnabas, even the cheerleader outfits was ringing familiar. So thank you. Thank you so much for looking into a more obscure film that I probably wouldn't have encountered for another decade if I was lucky. You have truly made my day
I only saw this movie once as a kid, when it aired around Halloween along with a lot of other weird Disney Channel movies, and all I remembered was the dog, specifically his freaky lip necklace, as well as how terrifying the aliens were. It's not even the only movie with a dog from outer space, there's also "Good Boy", another movie which had alien dogs.
Barnabus, the dog and the alien race Mike thought he was from his made-up comic book series are S tier status. I saw this show in the 90s, as a girl I definitely have to say that the slime alien is absolutely gross.
Some dcoms feel like fever dreams or Mandela effect. 😂 You try to think back or explain it to someone and you sound insane or don't know if it even exists. I loved this movie alongside Smart House and Xenon.
3:37 “hi id like to inquire if i qualify for welfare?” is a quote commonly heard by my high school dropout mom as a child and now I’m sitting here questioning if she’s been a genius this whole time
I watched this movie and it engrained itself into my brain, the whole "kid too smart for their own good doesnt feel like he belongs and tries to escape his world" deal. Somehow that narrative always hit hard with me. Same with Explorers or Kingdom Hearts even.
No, I just remember it that way. I don't think they were aware of how scary it came off to kids. I am 25, so I might have been 3 - 5 when I first saw it.@@kingnusmi
I still remember the first time my little brother and I watched this. We were allowed to go get “good stuff” beforehand. That’s what we called dessert. I was eating blue raspberry sour straws and I was ENTHRALLED.
Hey, you seem good at tracking down crazy old kid shows. There is one, that has been haunting me for years. But I can never find it, or its name. It involved, zombies, but. The whole town was convinced the one zombie was evil, though the kids believed he was good. And it revealed some big cover up? It was an odd comedy, and really weird.
I'm pretty sure I have seen all of the Disney movies made even ones like Johnny Tsunami, Underwraps, Brinks, Luck of The Irish, and all of the underrated and unknown straight-to-TV and VHS movies made by them (back in the day).
The beginning of the movie made me think about a similar premise - a father tells his son that they are coming from another planet that got invaded and the invaders wanted to use the boy in some kind ritual when he was a baby. The father rescued his son and escaped with him on Earth and lvie there undercover. Fastforward to present times and the boy is an adult now and he looks for a partner, finds a girl he likes and wonders if he should tell her everything about being an alien. There is also lingering question about whenever this whole alien thing is real or if the guy is deulsional on some level. I remember liking this movie and but I can't recall thr title right now.
22:40 and if you look closely behind the Gross alien, you can see his voice actor clearly on the side, right there reading his lines and they never realize that even when they put it on Disney+, LMAO
I think I actually watched this movie when it premiered on the Disney channel. I don't remember if I actually liked it or not but, I did like the puppet effects.
I actually had my grandma record this movie for me on VHS i loved it so much as a kid....not sure why tbh. I think I thought the main character was relatable as a kid
19:04 There actually are some theories on the possibility of life based on silicon, it would most likely be WAY different than us (like, it could not even touch oxygen or it would be petrified or something like that) but hey, cool the movie give it's try on this lol
@@kingnusmi Haha yeah, it was Made in 1997. And I think it's available on TH-cam. Though the quality is something to be desired. There's also an old series called " So Weird " that would be up your alley.
I got the novel from a Scholastic Bookfare in 2001. It had the coolest cover art, later I found out about the movie and rented it from my library. But the snot alien brain thing traumatized me and I cried so we turned it off.
0:54 I watched it and it was so gross to me that I couldn’t watch it again…the main character was weird to me and something was off about me! I didn’t like it
I remember being kid watching this movie late at night. I had no idea what I just watched and was just confused the entire time. Now imagine trying to explain to another person what you just saw.
I would 100% think it was just a dream this movie is absolutely WILD
Literally I saw it at like 1 am and had to google it to know I wasn't insane
3 am on a school day for me 😂😂 definitely it’s time slot
Bruh the Bogeyman in “Don’t look under the bed” use to scare tf outta me
I don’t think I’ve seen that one 🤔
ngl, I like how all the aliens are actually aliens instead of man in make up.
Very very weird aliens
Omg I remember being so scared of this movies and having nightmares for years
But it’s so wacky and goofy
they STILL scare me brother, we can hide in the comments together

This movie is literally both a fever dream & a nightmare
Also Mike is literally the disney ben shapiro
This feels like an inspiration for calling all creeps (or Atleast when he called the aliens)
Maybe! They were obsessed with aliens and dinosaurs in the 90s so it’s probably just a coincidence
More like the other way around because this movie aired in 1999. The original book series ended in December of 1997 and Goosebumps Series 2000 was the current series.

I remember watching these DCOMs as a kid while violently secreting blue liquid from my nose. Weird
hm that is weird... probably nothing tho!
@@kingnusmi I was a very unhealthy child
The slime monster looks like they took JarJar’s Face and Eye stalks and put them on lettuce
LMAO IT REALLY DOES looks like something went wrong in hyperspace
The aliens were definitely cool looking

Imma have to check out this good boy movie everyone has been mentioning it
I love that in the beginning of the movie mike tries to convince the kid of scientology
that thumbnail brought back memories I didn't know I had.
I tried to cram as many weird aliens I could into it 🤣
Barnabus, the dog and the alien race Mike thought he was from his made-up comic book series are S tier status. I saw this show in the 90s, as a girl I definitely have to say that the slime alien is absolutely gross.
Barnabus is actually iconic I love him
I never watched it growing up but my daughter at 4(2020) picked it to watch for Halloween & now it’s a family tradition
She has GREAT taste
@@kingnusmi she truly does 😂

Xenon is goated fr

I used to watch all of the Disney originals as they came out. Always loved how weird this one is!
Thode's comin' out of his cage and he's feeling just fine
Gotta gotta escape because he trapped them all
I remember when it came out it was one of those Disney channel original movies of the month. Luck of the Irish too. I liked can of worms a lot
Stepsister from planet weird

You hate that the dog alien, Barnabus, has a British accent? Charming. Well FU2!
That’s right 🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🧨🎆🎇
@@kingnusmiWhat have you got against the country?

In October, when the preview would play for this movie, I would cover my eyes. Horrifying!

Somewhere on TH-cam there’s test footage of the puppeteers working on the puppets and it’s so cool!
WHAT I wanna see this
This movie feels like an internet myth akin to Kazaam starring Sinbad.
I always got this movie recommended to me but looked too weird to actually watch.
If you like bad movies then it’s definitely a very fun watch and it is indeed VERY weird

It does have some cool puppets

Was it like a whole series or just an episode? Because there is a haunting hour episode called “best friend forever” that’s similar to that
@@kingnusmi I remember it as a movie. But it could have been an hour long episode maybe. It was years ago.

Oh man I remember this one! I used to love it. Haven't seen it as an adult though.
Can we talk about that Freddy Fazbird looking thing at 7:06, was that brought up at all in the movie?
Nope it’s literally just decoration
I remember this movie it was a little weird but honestly its charm never really wore off!
I’m surprised it never got a sequel it would have been interesting if they took Mike off of earth and had him explore a few different planets imo
I think about the scene where they show the human/creature zoo at least 2x a year😅
I think about the stripper alien at least once an hour
I think I actually watched this movie when it premiered on the Disney channel. I don't remember if I actually liked it or not but, I did like the puppet effects.
Such nostalgia for this film, guess i caught it on the original and likely only run.

You’re welcome! Some people say “Kingnusmi” but no it’s “Kingnusmi”
You don’t know what you’re missing they are good.
gods I forgot about this film I remember the dog though
How can you forget Barnabus!
I remember this movie clearly, loved it as a kid. Probably why those weird government agents in black suits follow me around sometimes.
What if aliens actually went by these rules of aggression. Like were reaching out to them now... are the space hookers gonna come attack us???
I think space hookers will only save our planet
That one alien reminds me of Ahhhh! Real Monsters
Gosh, even I've heard about this one... from like promos and stuff for halloween
Susie Q is probably the weirdest DCOM that i can remember... and more niche than Luck of the Irish
Man I haven’t seen this in soo long lol
It’s a WILD movie
I remember the slimy green one😂
Thanks for clarifying how your name is said.
