    I thought it was fascinating to watch him struggle for the right word or expression in english, to choose the french for “point of departure” when he couldn’t find the english equivalent . It was a curious insight into how his mind works, and I was charmed that he didn’t get frustrated by it. It showed me something of the person he is.

    They should do the interview in the native language of the writer. It is terrible to hear him stuttering, trying to find words to express himself accurately. An interview in German with English subtitles would have been infinitely better.

      Im just grateful I can understand what he is saying. His halting speech kind of fits with his writing style and his personality. I don't mind it.

    'Slow Homecoming' is the one of his I think about most often since I read it many years ago. To hear him say it is the one closest to his heart was a pleasant surprise.

    Wer das Englisch von Handke kritisiert und denkt er würde stottern, weiss natürlich nichts über Handke. Er spricht auch auf Deutsch so.Und auf Französisch. Das ist Handke-Sprache!

E diante dos repetitivos discursos panfletários, marcados por um estilismo contemporâneo decadente, clichês e lugares-comuns, a coisa só tende a piorar, até passarmos ainda mais do fundo do poço. Só nos resta recorrer aos Machados, Drummonds e Gracilianos da vida... Para sermos felizes.

      @@estamos_aqui_para_aprender, Guimarães Rosa é um escritor estupendo! Muito maior do que vários que ganharam a "famigeralda" láurea em questão... Quando a Handke, confesso que não li nada dele. Em todo caso, esse livro que você mencionou me parece o melhor, ou, aliás, o mais bem avaliado. Só li um livro dos últimos ganhadores: "Sobre os ossos dos mortos", da Olga Tokarczuk. Recomendo vivamente.

      Concordo completamente. O Brasil, apesar de ter produzido escritores de primeira grandeza, sempre foi injustiçado pela Academia Sueca. Resta-nos esperar um redentor.
