We would often have leftover mashed potato on toast the next morning when I was a child, now I’m in my sixties and I will still have mashed potato on buttered toast a few times a year, yummy .

Marion, I never noticed that I am also obsessed with spreading mayo, etc. to the edges of the bread. An interesting discovery about myself.
No matter whether I like what you're making, I always seem to find how you do something amazing and easier than I do it. There is so much to be learned, even as simple as how a knife is held, slicing, etc. All I have to do is pay attention!
Cooking can be absolutely amazing. Thank you so much. 💕💕💕

I live in a middle-class suburb of Los Angeles, USA. As of ~2 months ago, the “sando” café, which was pretty new and especially popular among local high schoolers after classes, in my neighborhood sold the pork katsu sando for USD $14.99 before sales tax. I thought it was pretty expensive.

Hey Marion! ❤ I'm due for our first baby soon, and I would LOVE a compilation of recipes like this that are good for freezing ahead of time and reheating. I'm definitely going to have to experiment with these sandwiches in the meantime!

Since we happen to have some boiled potatoes left over from the night before, I tried the first sandwich right away. Slightly different spices (Swiss-like with nutmeg...:-), also tomatoes and pepperoni, slightly different breading and also cheese... hmmmm so good.

I think adding Japanese Kewpie Mayo to the Katsu sando would take it to the next level.

    Hi Marion!
Could you potentially make a video that's quick, easy, uses simple ingredients, but is also nutritious? I'm in medical school and I often don't have a lot of time but I love cooking when I can. Love your videos - thank you :)

For some reason your comment made me think about roasted squash, and then I wondered why I haven't seen some kind of miso butternut squash from Marion 🤔😅

We make something similar to your katsu sando, it is our copy of a sandwich we had while visiting london afew years ago. Rather than just plain cabbage they had a lightly dressed coleslaw creamy or regular and the outside of the sandwich is buttered then toasted in a panini press. For dry brining we like to give at least an hour but overnight gives better results, all depends if you are planning or craving. Not tried dripping in mustard before, normally just dip in whatever chilli sauce or curry sauce we like. The kids are going to make your xian spicey burgers tomorrow and are thinking about using the burgers diced up with the veg ans some cheese to make sandwich pockets, should prove to be an interesting sunday. Thanks for the recipes, take care, God bless one and all.

I think I might have found an Easter Egg. When Marion makes sandwiches she always makes enough for herself plus the crew on set (or w/e that's called!) How many of us can claim we eat amazing food every day at work?

This is a legit question here because I’m struggling between Eastern vs Western culture. This is no way an attack on Marion. My question is:
In Asian culture it’s so culturally accepted parents/family will tell you you’re too skinny if you don’t eat enough (and it’s disrespectful if you reject their food) but also call you fat when they feed you too much. How many times has your family called you fat and how do you deal with it? I know it’s culturally acceptable to talk about weight but it does not make me feel good. I’ve told my parents how their words are rude and hurtful but they still criticize my size.
