    For anyone doing this on a smaller diameter pipe like a dirtbike exhaust definitely do the one inch wrap instead of the two.

    • @wiplash518

      Why is that?

      @@wiplash518 Its easier to wrap around the bend in your header pipe.

      Or you could cut the 2 inch in half longways.

    Excellent work (: you can squirt a bottle of water onto the wrap to soak it. Keeps the color instead of soaking in a bucket.

    Wrapping my KFX 400 Exhaust today. Hopefully the wrap will protect the lower radiator hose from burning again. Thanks for the video I didn't know you had to soak the wrap in water first 🤘🏻

    • @ethanclark6859
      @ethanclark6859 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not water repellent, it’ll absorb water and cause some surface rusting. Maybe spray it with some high flash point penetrating oil to keep it from rusting?

    Do you have to replace the header gasket ?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not necessarily, it depends on the condition of your gasket and if you can keep it in good shape taking the exhaust off. But it's a good idea to have an extra gasket on hand or just keep the exhaust on the machine if you're able to.

      The titanium wrap is definitely the way to go. On a dirtbike I also wrap stainless steel wire around the intire pipe at about 1/4” spacing. It helps resist abrasion from impacts or pressure washing.

    • @rmatvmc

      That product looks to be more for fixing broken pipes than insulating them, but it still should work fine for this application and block more heat than not using anything at all.

    What grease did you use for the header gasket

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's just regular grease like Bel-Ray Waterproof Grease ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/bel-ray-water-proof-grease-p ) or Maxima Hi-Temp Waterproof Grease ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/maxima-hi-temp-waterproof-grease-p ). If it makes you more comfortable you can definitely use a hi-temp silicone but the grease was just used to hold the gasket in place when the header was put on, not necessarily for sealing.
