A dog's hind leg is more straighter than the first log. Setting for taper is always a good idea.

Ya the carriage only tapers 4” so I do what I can but somtimes when they are that bad a 12ft log turns into a 8ft. Would get more out of them if were chainsawed in half but it’s too late once it gets into the mill

You find more useable material in some of those logs than anyone could expect. It's surprising that there's any value in some of these logs.

      Thank u
I try my best to do a good job. It does get frustrating sawing some of the logs that I do sometimes

They are pallet logs Any log in a tree above the first crotch. That most logger/sawmills leave in the bush and the landowner never gets any money for them That’s why this mill havs been in business since before the 90s There is also a large grade mill on the same property with 2 huge bandsaws. So when they have lots of logs. We start getting bigger stuff but it’s been a tough year for all sawmills so they are taking more smaller logs than usual that means this mill gets even smaller crap lol I cut so fast we still do ok. Cut 260 -290 logs a day
