Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addresses the media ahead of this transition. He earlier emphasized that the changes aim to ensure "speedy justice and justice for all." The new laws, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), will replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (IEA), respectively. These new laws received President Droupadi Murmu’s assent on December 25, 2023. Watch the full broadcast to know more.
