we have just had the wettest winter on record in the UK - how do farmers grow food with land under water? its when food shortages start to happen in the supermarkets that people will wake up and join the dots, we are talking about civil unrest at that point - personally I like experts and follow scientists like Prof Bill McGuire. I thank my lucky stars to be middle aged and on the LGBT spectrum and have no family of my own, and feel very sorry for younger people.

I have always publicly praised George Manbiot as a hero for our future, thanked him for his service to humanity in his fight against fossil fuel addiction. Even though I disagreed with his support of nuclear power in the past, one video in particular by Kyle Hill has made me more sympathetic to nuclear power. Nevertheless, preventing new births and going vegan are the #1 and #2 best ways to reverse or slow AGW.

Nothing we do will make one iota of difference to our climate, and it's pure arrogance, and ignorance to think we can. The best we can do is manage as best we can, but in saying that we have two of the most massively populated country's on the planet, surging ahead, building more and more coal fueled power stations to continue to grow their economy's and lift their people out of poverty. So for England or my country, Australia to think they can make a midicom of a difference to the world's climate is laughable, it's just plain virtue signalling.

The thing with "runaway" climate warming is that the Earth has been much warmer as well as much colder in other eras of natural history including when humans were alive and it cooled down and warmed up by natural processes. There is no such thing as an absolutely runaway climate. What they should tell people, if they were sane, is that we need to reduce pollution, not make up false ultimatums about mother nature versus drivers

I get the impression they seem to think there`s a quick fix to the problem, like just flick a switch and all will be well, it`s taken decades to get to this point and will, if ever, take decades to get back to normal, whatever normal is.
that being said, I have an opinion I would like to share, if I may, is that climate change has become self sustaining and will continue in this way until it has balanced itself out, we will have to ride it out unfortunately !

    • @manahylgilani355

Just incase you don't read it however, we are reaching 1.5 degrees of a rise in global average temperatures probably by next year February. This September was the hottest In recorded human history going upto 1.8 degrees. This was a temporary rise but once the new baseline is 1.5, it will be quite common to reach 2 degrees at various months. The arctic is projected (and all mainstream climate scientists are on one page on this) to lose all permanent ice by 2030. Once that happens, the World will heat up by 0.5 more, which will take us to 2 degrees. At 2 degrees, droughts will last half the year and will be prevalent everywhere, which will lead to global bread basket failure. You say we will ride it out, but at 2 degrees, 3 will be locked in as the Greenland and antartic ice sheets will also collapse. At 3 degrees, even Russia and North America will not be safe from prolonged drought. Ofcourse, by two degrees south Asia and Africa as well as most of the south American continents will be lost. But I'm sure as a westerner u don't give a hoot about that so I'll stop here. You could read the chantam house report of 2021 if u don't want to read six degrees by mark lynas. But all the major and most senior climate Scientists from sir David King to James hansen to David Attenborough are agreed on these. So is the un secretary General who has declared the age of global boiling has begun.

    • @manahylgilani355
      @manahylgilani355 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I mean, it's the end of our hopes, our dreams, our ambitions, our loves, our hates, everything we've dreamt of for our children, the good world that we want for them, that could go, if global systems, earth systems, reach a tipping point, um, the planet will flip from a habitable state to an uninhabitable state."
No, Earth is not going to "flip" from habitable to uninhabitable like that.
We certainly DO need to be working hard to protect and preserve our world; and we certainly DO need to be developing more sustainable sources of energy; and all my family, friends, and community agree about this. Each of us can help, in our own neighborhoods and communities.
But this isn’t the Apocalypse. I was born and raised in a hellhole unimaginable to probably 99% of Insulate Britain, Just Stop Oil, and all the other privileged people who are currently trying to make everyone sperg out in abject panic.
And -- like some teens today -- I didn’t expect to live to reach adulthood.
But, here I still am. 'Life finds a way.'
About 930,000 years ago, humans almost went extinct. And during the Black Death, much of Asia, Europe, and Scandinavia died out and truly believed the Apocalypse had come.
Most of us will still be here in 2030. . . and in 2050. Even if we don't particularly want to be. Meanwhile, let's work together to do the best we can with what we have and where we live.
And please, consider NOT hanging out in traffic, under the well-intentioned but ill-conceived notion to "save" the world by endangering and pissing off working class people who are just trying to make ends meet.

Solar and wind can only support a fraction of the energy and there are monumental real world obstacles to net carbon zero using those two methods of energy production. The electrical grids cannot support the electrification of all our energy needs, wind genators only work when the wind blows and solar panels only produce energy during the day and have both a theoretical and practical limit to how much of the photons can be converted to electrical energy. They are further limited by cloudy and rainy days as well as seasonal shifts in the angle that the sun's rays hit the solar panels. They need inverters which use rare earth minerals which are also used for electronics worldwide. I can go on and on about the scientific and practical limitations or pitfallls of "green" energy methods. We need to innovate new energy sources,, adapt, use carbon capture and filtration, phase out the least efficient fossil fuels and develop and improve Molten Salt Reactors which if used properly are less riskier and can recycle used fuel and reduce the amount of nuclear waste that also has a much shorter half-life of decay.

No, They. don't have the right to go. onto to the m24 And block traffic. If somebody like me and you went and did that, we'd be arrested straight away. So why aren't they being arrested? They should be sent to gaol. Not for 6 months. Three years at least.

The police need to do their job. Stop. standing beside them talking to them and walking with them and arrest them. in Germany, France. They come once to get there. Pick him up rather than. just stand there talking. to them. And if the glued to hands to the concrete just pull it off like I've seen the German police do. So do your job
