- Fred Rogers was the kind of person who made everyone’s life better. On Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, he taught children life lessons that reinforced how special and important they were, and even after his death, more heartwarming stories about the man have come out, both from cast members on his show and children who got the chance to meet their TV neighbor. From the time Mister Rogers went above and beyond to encourage a child in the hospital to the amusing anecdotes his wife has shared about him, let’s take a look at some things that have come out about Mister Rogers since he died.

It was great. Mr. Rogers is one of if not the finest people to have lived this century, and that program showed a piece of why. We are all fortunate that he was picked up by television so we could all experiance how kind and caring he was. If there were many more like him the world would truly be a much better neighborhood.
The Tom Hanks movie was great, because it focused on RESULTS of Rogers Influence.
But it had been fictionalized. Also, I did not find Tom Hanks very believable as Rogers.
Still, the new film focus on Rogers ideals, and we can come to our own conclusions.

@@frankdelgrosso8297 Absolutely. I'm a Humanist Atheist, and Mr. Rogers taught humanism and kindness without ever mentioning his religion. His life and work are testaments to how we can all learn to understand ourselves and empathize with each other, regardless of spiritual belief, and I'm pretty sure he helped show generations of us that we're capable of being better than we initially thought possible. He should be a saint to all of humanity, if you ask me.

I was ready to be VERY upset at this video but luckily I ended up being more compassionate for Fred Rogers. Only as I get older do I realize just how luck I was to have him in my childhood.
Mr Rodgers wasn't a genius,he was just a normal man who devoted his life to spreading love and kindness. The fact that he was a normal guy was what made him so great.
He was an extraordinary genius, but he was also a normal man.
He had a very high EQ.
He had a degree in music and also was an ordained Presbyterian Minister. The show was his pulpit for kids? Yes but also their parents.
THAT was well said.
He was a genius of simplicity, empathy, patience, articulation, mannerism, persistence, and so much more. Not even saints reach his level.
I'm an atheist, and an admirer of Fred Rogers. His status as an ordained minister bothers me not at all. His message transcends ideology and theism.
I like to joke that he's the real-life Jesus, for us atheists. Ha!

His whole being was to show the love of Christ to humanity and he did. He was a truly born again Christian and showed it. He gave Christianity a good name. Not like today where so many profess the love for Christ but hate demonically. That saddens me deeply. I wish Christians would live like Christ. Wouldn't it be a better USA?

He would be so Horrified to see how divided we are.
I think he'd be horrified and disappointed that many people allow the media to affect them in a bad way. When he spoke with Arsenio Hall, he mentioned the media showing bad things and never looking for the "helpers" as he called them,. The good people who love others.
So you don't see conservative rallies that bring to the stage a person with black lives matter to allow them to speak offering their point of view. You don't see the kindness expressed to regardless of their differences in politics. All they show are is a nation divided by hatred. That having a different political view somehow means hate or racism. That people believing in due process even when it comes to rape is somehow hating women.
We need a voice like Mr Rogers today. There's too many people allowing the media to tear this nation in half. We should be focusing on the helpers like he said.

I understand little kids similar to the way he did..I talk WITH children,not AT them like sadly so many adults do..someone once told me I was on the same "wavelength" as small children..I knew he meant it as an insult,but I took it as a compliment..being on their "wavelength" is just a part of who I am and I❤ who I am 😁😊☺

Mr. Rogers was distracted and nearly stepped in front of a cab my husband was driving in Florida many years ago. My husband was on point and averted any harm. Rogers then stepped back up the curb and sheepishly waved at my husband. Then my husband recognized him and nearly went into shock. I told hubby that if he had harmed or worse Mr. Rogers that there would be a lynch mob of 5 year olds surrounding our house. God bless you, Fred McFeely Rogers. Mr. Rogers was often the one STABLE adult in many childrens' lives. We miss him terribly. 😢❤
One of my favorite Fred Rogers anecdotes is how, since he and George Romero were friends and fellow Pittsburgh filmmakers, he attended the premier of Night of the Living Dead. When Romero asked him if he liked the film, he said, "It's a lot of fun, George!" I just love the idea that this gentle, ordained minister beloved by children was entertained by a violent horror flick. I can even picture him explaining it to a child: "well, sometimes grownups like to look at things you might find upsetting..." What a class act he was, we'll not see his like again.
I was raised by a man just like mr Rogers. I never had a question he wouldn’t answer. He never lost his temper and people for miles away would seek his advise. I followed his steps everywhere. Its been 25 years since he died and i still cry for him

I don't think people realized that Mr Rogers was actually a foster parent to every child that watched this show. He's still rewarding children posthumously. He just had that big of a heart and good spirit. Such a good man. RIP

Rob Grant Mr. Rogers was a man without scandal. A rare person who managed to live his life without doing anything shameful or immoral (at least not in any significant way). This spotless track record gave his work and words legitimacy in the eyes of the masses.
How many people in the world can really claim to have that kind of spotless track record?
Sure anyone can try to be like Mr. Rogers and try to live up to the entirely achievable down to earth human standards that he set. But extremely few people have lived their entire lives walking the scandal free straight and narrow like he did. If anyone were to try to live up to his example the world would be quick to tear them down, holding their past sins against them. Not demanding repentance and reconciliation, but demanding blood like wolves or sharks. They tried to do it to Fred Rogers, but couldn’t which is why he’s on a sick a high pedestal.
Society doesn’t believe in repentance and reconciliation. Society believes in eternal damnation. Either you’re perfect or you’re dammed.

Rogers is one of the most wholesome genuine people to have ever walked this earth. We are lucky to have had him.
I must apologize because I am a suspicious person about people claiming to have saintly intentions and later find out they were deceitful. I have found out and now believe the Fred Rogers was the real deal who embodied the kind empathy of a superior soul. Young people knew this and became better people themselves because of his example. It is sad that we know this after he left us. I am sure he wishes everyone who followed him a special,blessing from above where he now resides.

They are thinking of signing Adam on permanently and making more original music in the tradition of Queen while performing the classics. Unfortunately, it seems nobody is continuing the tradition of Mr. Rogers at all. Daniel Tiger's Neighbourhood is a continuation of the show. But nobody has succeeded Mr. Rogers himself. Just as Adam Lambert does not replace Freddie Mercury but succeeds him, that is what is needed for Fred Rogers. Nobody can replace Mr. Fred Rogers. But perhaps someone may attempt to succeed him, even if not as good. Adam knows he can never replace Freddie. Why is it nobody at least tries to succeed Mr. Rogers.

There was a joke video one time that started like a scandalous gotcha talk show, See Fred Rogers' ugly feud with his wife! Then it showed a cartoon of Rogers very politely and kindly talking about how they disagree, but that doesn't mean they love each other any less.

I believe he tried to sue Ice Cube one time, for putting his theme song in the beginning of one of his songs, but the way I remember it Ice cube describes Fred Rogers as being this hood gangsta character, and I can totally see him disapproving that

Gosh darn it *wipes tears away* 23 years old and still getting teary eyed when ever I hear about our kindest man ever to live. He didn't wish to be treated like a saint and yet he continually is shown to have the most qualifications to be made one ever. Even as he grew old and his health deteriorated, his heart remained pure gold.
When Mister Rogers was on PBS, I was a self-involved high school teen. One afternoon, I turned in KHET and found Fred Rogers contending with a dead Guppy on the bottom of an aquarium. Rather than scoop it up roughly and toss it into the toilet and flush it away, he gently retrieved the fish and checked to see if it really was dead by putting it into a light salt water bath. Satisfied that it was "swiming in heaven," he took the defunct fish outside and gave it the kind of a burial reserved for a cherished pet, like a dog or cat. That is what made Mr. Rogers a "top of the world" TV host and a friend to children...of any age.

I saw the baby, and I gave it a burial. I didn’t throw it away, I went a my small hill behind my house and dig up some dirt. I them put the bird in the dirt, and then covered it up gingerly. And then I let it fly. Fly to heaven.

For the kids dealing with dysfunctional home situations, Mr. Rogers was the stability we craved. He taught us right from wrong in a gentle, loving way, and made us feel safe and loved. I'd love to meet him in heaven someday, it wouldn't be complete without him.

@ William L. Don't feel guilty crying when he passed as I did the same and I was 19. I think the entire world cried that day as both young and old lost 1 of the greatest teachers in history. There will never be another Mr. Roger's as far as I'm concerned especially the way the world is now. As we really do need someone as special as him in this day and age.
Growing up in the heyday of Mr. Rogers neighborhood, I was a neighbor. With God’s blessing, and His will, I will see my neighbor again. This man’s love and gentleness is something we all could use more of nowadays.

He’s the first celebrity I can think of when stories came out about him after his passing, that he was an even better person than I knew.
some were out when he was still alive that made me smile.... like the one (never proven or disproven) that his car was stolen and returned with an apology note after the thieves learned who the owner was
Mr. Rogers was a gift to everyone. I loved his show as a little boy in the late 60's. Hearing his kind, welcoming voice put me at ease, and made me happy, because I knew he really cared. To this day, when I see his face, or hear his voice, I smile. There is no one else I can think of that was kinder, gentler, or more compassionate than Fred Rogers. Thank You Mr. Rogers.

I watched Mr. Rogers as a kid in the 70's and 80's. He was always so kind and thoughtful, and always somehow made me feel safe and loved. He was such a beautiful soul, and I know he's at peace now, and that makes me happy.

He was the real deal. I'm sure many skeptics have tried to find a dark side to his personality, maybe some skeletons in his closet, but from what everyone who knows him has said, he was a truly good, kind individual.
I watched him as a child, and remember the comforting feel of his routine:) I had a bit of a chaotic family at times and he was so calming...
I grew up on Mr. Rogers ; his words and kindness made so many lives a little more bearable each day..

The only person who can get me to stop and focus just by speaking. I can't help but revert back to that child sitting in front of the tv legs crossed intently hanging on every word. Instant calm comes over me. I was about to take some medication as he was talking about the last message and the moment "I know sometimes.." I froze and focused. It's a crazy feeling.

Mr Rodgers was a true man in every sense of the word. I grew up in an abusive home I had to raise myself in many ways. Mr Rodgers always made me feel I had value. When my friend Mr Rodgers went to be with our Lord Jesus it was earth's lost and truly heavens gain .I love you and miss you my friend my neighborhood isn't the same without you

I watched this show as a kid and I knew this man was the real deal on how he acted on the show to how he acted in real life. Thanks mr. Rodger's for being a great person and role model to me and millions of kids and adults. You are what we need more of in this world right now.
Both "Won't You Be My Neighbor" and "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" required a great deal of tissues for me to get through. They were both amazing cinematic tributes to one of the most important people in American society. Mr. Rogers' message of kindness and understanding helped me deal with the pain of a lifetime of bullying from my schoolmates and beratement from my parents. Mr. Rogers is a wonderful man who was almost too good for this world. I watched his show well into my preteen years, and at this point America should be watching Mr. Rogers instead of mean "talent" or competition shows, or other prison, crime or violence shows. All that TV teaches people to be terrible to one another. Mr. Rogers was teaching us to be kind. Park & Recreation was one of the few TV shows that had a similar message about making our world better through being better people. Thank you Fred Rogers, for dedicating your life to improving our world.

I never watched Mr Rogers until I did so with my daughter. As an adult, I found his words, songs, and stories healing. He also gave me some deep insights and great advice about being a mother.
He was just a person filled with love and kindness. The way he was able to display these qualifies everyday inspired not only the children of the world but the parents. He played a major roll in good parenting. A very kind open minded human being. Thank you MR. Rogers for helping me raise good people.

We watched his message to his adult fans the night before our final presentation for our degrees or cert. in multi media design and production. Never seen a room fall to tears. Grown men and woman scared of their futures who finally found a friend that understood still and was never forgotten. He truly changed so many peoples lives.

We were truly blessed and we truly didn’t understand how much,. He was such an amazing person, we should all strive to do half as much. His message was so simple. Be kind, be caring, be loving. 🙏❤️🌞

I remember watching him as a 5 year old in the early 90s, I grew up well and balanced. We need this today as things are going off the rails with broken homes.

Mr Roger's scared me as a child. Not because he was scary, but because my life was so far outside of his norm that I couldn't handle it. A truly beautiful soul.

This was a very sweet tribute. I don't know if there is one already, but I think a lot of people would enjoy seeing a long version of this on TV. Right now we all need to know that some people are who they seem to be and even better. He was one of those people. God bless him and his widow.
I miss our friend. He wasn't just mine, he was there for so many of us. Losing him was very hard. Especially those of us who received his unconditional love and wisdom every single day. For some of us, that's all we had.

I remember Mr. Rogers as being a nice gentleman. He did seem to talk to the children, not at them. I always thought that it was very important. Kids are people too.

I was older when the show came on t.v, and I am 80 now, but i remember Fred.This is a good video about him. Thank you who ever put this on about him. I was not a fan, but i thought he worked hard to do what he thought was right for that time in his life. 80 year old man, joe
The world is a better place for having had Fred Rogers in it. Of this I have absolutely no doubt. Part of who I was as a boy was because of Fred Rogers. And without question, part of who I am as a man, as a husband, and as a father, is because of Fred Rogers. Thank you. and you are missed, Mister Rogers.

I remember watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood on tv when I was 3. My mom said I would cry when she tried to change the channel. His voice alone was hypnotizing. May THE ALMIGHTY bless his soul.

We learned from his death that there are no one else like him, which isn't what he would have wanted. He would have wanted everyone to try their best to be kind, full of joy, and stay calm under the most worst of times.

I still love the memory of watching this show with my little brother. He had aspberger syndrome and this show helped him so much. I know he & my brother are happily in heaven but Mr. Rogers gave such a good sturdy routine basis for children that he should never be forgotten. God Bless him & his originality.
