@@stevenmartin4154 This from Armored Saint and The Skull from Trouble were my introductions to each of these bands and they are both so tragically underrated!
Yes!! Yes!! Thanks Pete!! 1) Raising fear 2) Symbol of salvation 3) March of the Saint 4) Delirious nomad 5) Win hands down 6) Revelation 7) La Raza Nod to the Old School is a great compilation. Not to mention they had a great opening EP and a song off the legendary "Decline of the Western Civilization: The Metal Years" album. I remember seeing them live in 1988 in a near-empty theater in Madison, WI. Caught a guitar pick from Dave Pritchard that I still have somewhere... Thanks again Pete. Not too many of my friends remember this great band and it's always great to listen to people that remember there greatness like you do. Long live Dave Pritchard!!
Symbol of Salvation isn't just Armored Saint's best album, it is at least in my top 20 albums of all-time. I got to see them perform it live in its entirety a couple of years ago, and I had them sign my SoS vinyl as well as my Win Hands Down box set.
Raising Fear is my #1. RF was a huge album for me as a HS kid, and Dave's solo on Book of Blood is classic. Dave's development as a player was growing at an incredible rate, and I can only imagine how good he could have become.
John Bush is one of the all time greats and my second favorite singer behind Dio. I thoroughly enjoy the Anthrax albums with him also especially Sound of White Noise.
Damn, I love this channel. If I had nothing else to do I would watch it all day and night. You are very gifted my friend. Your presentation skills are top notch Pete. That is part of the greatness of the channel. Something I would like to see you do if you can is maybe talk about pivotal albums in a half hour or hour format with one or some of your friends, Like a rountable discussion. All in all, just a fantastic channel!
Saint is such a great live band, absolute professional musicians, I recommend everyone go see them. They blow the roof off every indoor venue that I've seen them.
I was glad to find this list. I have always been curious about Armored Saint but never really checked them out, then I heard they were going to reissue their first three albums. Very helpful. Thanks
I only discovered Armored Saint this year, because of Bush connection to Anthrx. What a great band, Symbol Of Salvation is my favorite album from them, by now. One of best discoveries i made in the last months.
I love watching these ranking videos, they sometimes inspire me listen again to the albums that I've not always given the time to and, sometimes, appreciate them more! Look after yourself and keep up the good work!!
I got into Armored Saint very late about two years ago. I have been listening to Heavy Metal music for over thirty years, and I finally gave Armored Saint a much better listen two years ago and since then I have every album that they have done on their first era and I plan on getting everything they have done since their return. I got their first four studio albums and two live albums . All I can do is a top four and I wish that both live albums they put out were much longer because both of them only have eight songs on them which makes them feel like EPs instead of full length live albums, and I love listening to both of them big time. My top four out of the first four studio albums would have to be. 4. March Of The Saint 3. Delicious Nomad 2. Raising Fear 1. Symbol Of Salvation I love all four of these albums big time.
Been a metal fan since 86… just started listening to Armored Saint and love them!! Was always pro-belladonna anthrax so I think that always kept me down on Bushs voice. Well I was wrong!!! And top quality metal song writing. Killer band
Hey Pete! Love all of your videos. I was big into Armored Saint back in the 80's. My favorite was Delirious Nomad. I'm also one of those who haven't listened to them much after the 80's, but now I want to check out their newer stuff. Thanks!!!
I saw them at the Tower Theater on the March of the Saint tour with WASP and Metallica! So many unique memories about that show. We bought our tickets at the Ticketron in the East Mall in Harrisburg Pa. There was a Mennonite lady working the booth which also doubled as a gift wrapping station, We asked for tickets to the Armored Saint /Wasp show (We weren't into Metallica yet). She said they didn't have tix for that show but, they had Metaclea tix (Pronounced Met-ak-lea) We laughed and said we'll take two. Then there was a guy at the theater running around in a King Diamond jean jacket yelling the Jackson 5 are dead! Now they're the Jackson 666! The weirdest crowd I'd ever seen! Chris Holmes was running around the stage in assless leather pants and he tripped and slid on his ass mid-song! Then Metallica came out and blew our minds! We left that show full-fledged Metalibangers! Ride The Lightning was a game changer!
I've had an obsession for John Bush's vocal sound for years now. It just perfect in my opinion. SoS my favourite album too but the their latest release is real and absolute killer too. Thanks for great episode Pete! You got one of the best shows on youtube.
Always thought John Bush was one of the best metal singers, period! Really would have liked to have Dave around longer....to see what material he would have spawned(just like the Jason Becker situation). My favorite Saint release: Raising Fear. Need to pick up that Nod to the old school disc....thanks Pete for another straight-forward catalog review🔥.
Bought March of the Saint back in the day and loved it. Why I didn't explore more by them, I have no idea. Thanks for the ranking. I'll have to check out more by them.
I think your shows are some of the best I've seen the variety is great,On that note maybe one day you can do a ranking the albums of NY own Manowar a fun band that has made some great music anyways keep up the good work
They are a killer live band, John Bush is so powerful and still sounds so damn good ! Sellersville is a fun venue to see bands of this size in, very intimate and sound is always great. I’ve seen Fates Warning there twice the last few years ! Only complaint is it’s off the beaten track for me since I live over near Lancaster.
Pete another band I am personally unfamiliar with, look forward to checking out. My larger point is I love and appreciate how you do not suffer fools. Keep up the great content. Also, i recently subscribed to Comic Book Geezers... got me through a long weekend off work.
I really enjoy and appreciate your passion for music...I love getting your opinions on music that I adore, even if i don't agree, love it and getting turned on to music I have missed, like Budgie Bloodrock and Stepson...keep rocking and spreading that musical sauce!!!
I’m 53 so I grew up with the best Rock and Metal music. I enjoy your collection of music. I do like L.A.Guns,Grim Reaper. Now I have to listen to more Armor Saint. And I have to throw in Tora Tora. Thanks 🎸🎸🎸🎸💀💀💀💀
Great listing. I totally agree with you ranking. I didn't get into Saint until very late even though I was a big fan of John in Anthrax. I don't know how I missed out on them for so long. Going to need to add the whole discography to my collection.
Omg ty I never really checked our armored saint so I went with symbol of salvation. First listen I loved it. I love the song dropping like flies but the whole record is great. I have discovered so much music from you channel. Also forevermore from whitesnake is is my top 10 songs you are correct it’s epic
Wow! I haven't heard or even thought about AS since the 90s. I need to brush up on the albums I know and check out the newer stuff. Thanks for reminding me of this great band!
Great list and great explanations! Loooooved Symbol of Salvation! Have you heard the song Pirates? It was recorded somewhere between Raising Fear and Symbol, and it’s cool to see how John Bush’s voice and the band’s sound are transforming a bit during that time. Great video. Will subscribe. (And yes, I watched the whole video and let it digest before I typed this comment.) really enjoyed it!
Awesome band! John Bush is one of my favorite metal vocalists. Like Pete said, all albums are great so nothing low down is bad. 7. La Raza 6. Win Hands Down 5. Delirious Nomad 4. Symbol of Salvation 3. Revelation 2. March of the Saint 1. Raising Fear
It doesn't get any better than John Bush-dude has that gritty, urgent voice that is the very definition of hard rock swagger! Anthrax knows! They couldn't recruit him fast enough! RIP Dave Prichard-and Win Hands Down was one of my favorite surprises of 2015! Raising Fear rarely left my cd player back in the day, along with Delirious Nomad and March Of The Saint. Take care.
Back then Armored Saint were on the up, that's why John Bush and somebody else turned down jobs in Metallica. Good to see Revelation up there, I reckon it's one of their best. Will have to listen to Raising Fear again based on my list.
YES! Was waiting for this one, Pete. Thanks! 1.Delirious Nomad 2.Symbol Of Salvation 3.March Of The Saint 4.Raising Fear 5.Revelation 6.Win Hands Down 7.La Raza *All of these are required purchases and if there is a better hard rock singer than John Bush-I ain't heard it! Another of those bands that suffered a lot of bad luck and label mismanagement, Armored Saint belongs in the top tier of hard rock bands and will forever be criminally overlooked! Win Hands Down pretty much made my 2015 year in music a great one! Now.....get back in the studio!!!!
Hey Pete, have u ever been into Sanctuary(first Warrel Dane band) music? If yes, can u make ranking video for them? I know they have short discography, but it's interesting to listen your choice :) Greetings
Great list. I don't agree with your rankings, but I agree that this is a tough one. If you haven't heard the 3-disc version of Symbol of Salvation, I HIGHLY recommend it. It has the album, the demos with Pritchard on lead, and then commentary with the band and the producer about the making of the album. Everything about that expanded release is awesome. One of my favorite albums of all time. I also agree about Win Hands Down. Played it so much I had to take a break, then I played it more, and now I have taken a longer break just so it will sound fresh again. I love all Armored Saint, but those two albums are just so fantastic.
I also recommend their 1983 Self Titled EP (it rivalled Queensryche's EP from the same year) and if you can get your hands on it, I'd track down their 1982 First Demo album. I also recommend Nod To Old School compilation album (Pete already mentioned this) from 2001. It has a few more demos on it from 1983, 1988 and 1989, plus re-recorded versions of some of their classic songs. Lastly, I also recommend their re-recorded Symbol of Salvation demo album from 1991 with Jeff Duncan of (hard to track this one down, but it can be found).
The shows are sometimes better than their releases. in my opinion the sound of some studio recordings is not powerful enough. especially March of the saint.
Excellent Pete, as always. Here’s hoping for a Clapton ranking, sometime soon. Weird one, for me; he was my hero for years, but more recently the sheen seems to have worn off, and I find myself wondering if he really does belong way up there with the greats. 🤔
Hi Pete… revisiting some of your older rankings, where would you place Punching The Sky (2020) on this catalog? Just out of curiosity cause I really like that last record, cheers!
2:15 a full minute about bad apples. Don't feed the trolls, man. They aren't going to listen to you, so don't waste oxygen on them. Criticism, bitching, and trolls are actually a sign of success. Every channel of any decent size will have them. Rise above the fray and engage with the good folks.
I understand you, the idea and your list. carry on, Pete! We love you, the nerds from Germany! P.S. even if you have two albums, one is first - is other one is second!
Do you think there's a curve between productivity and consistent quality and which act do you think has maintained it over the greatest number of releases?
1. March of the Saint 2. Delirious Nomad 3. Symbol of Salvation 4. Revelation 5. Raising Fear 6. Win Hands Down 7. La Raza One of my top 10 favorite bands of all-time! Killer live too.
Very Intestine. I love it! keep on Kranking the Saint. just wait till you hear the new Record! wooooohooo! thank you for doing this! All the Best, ~ Gonzo Sandoval
Wow. Cool to see you on youtube! I know your brother Phil's on here too. Anyway, you probably dont remember me but I met you and Dave at the Vic in Chicago when you opened for MSG in 1988. You guys were awesome, as usual!
Pete. Question for you. Have you done a ranking of the studio albums of bay area thrashers Testament?? Also...I'm a big fan of Udo Dirkschneider's solo albums. First off...how many do you own, and would you consider doing a ranking show for them (and Testament)? Thanks Pete.
Late on this video, but have been revisiting them recently because they are on tour with WASP, will be here in Chicago area in December. Tickets are, IMO, outrageous. Small venue, $125 each. Thinking on it though. My favorites are Raising Fear and Symbol of Salvation, pretty much equal for me. Only have the first 4, lost track of them for years after Bush went to Anthrax.
Pete, before I watch I’m gonna rank mine and see if we are similar or different. First time I heard this band is when I bought March of the Saint on record at a used record store. I thought the cover looked cool so I took a chance on it. Got home put it on and the rest was history, became an instant Armored Saint fan! 1. March of the Saint 2. Raising Fear 3. Delirious Nomad 4. La Raza 5. Symbol of Salvation 6. Revelation 7. Win Hands Down Now to Pete... see if we are close Brother and stay safe!!!
I grew up in the LA area and saw Saint many times in different clubs 1983 and 84. Great Live Band!!! That being said, muddy or not, March Of The Saint is my favorite. Back then...Leatherwolf was another Great Live Band with their original lineup. (LA area clubs)
Pete, people today have a lower attention span than a goldfish (8 seconds). Unfortunately, not enough people listen and it's getting worse. You do an awesome job! Your videos have done more to expand my breadth of listening than anything else!!
Man, I have always really loved this band. I decided to include the EP, because their discography is pretty short, so... why not? A like all of these quite a bit. March Of The Saint is a top ten album of the decade for me. 8) Revelation 7) La Raza 6) Raising Fear (Don't get me wrong - I like every song on here!) 5) Armored Saint EP 4) Win Hands Down 3) Delirious Nomad 2) Symbol of Salvation 1) March of the Saint Thanks, Pete! I still think that you're reading my mind, though, as I just checked a couple days back (yes, I use the playlists!!!) if you had done an Armored Saint list. Also, I had to come back after watching to say that I love that Zero Hour shirt!!! I might have to order one of those for myself!
Zero Hour, Pictures of Specs of Pictures Burnt Beyond. Great Shirt, I have that shirt. Can't wait for the new ZH Album! And I think I'm perfectly aligned with your ranking of Armored Saint. Symbol of Salvation and Raising Fear are great. Win Hands Down was great. Hopefully Joey Vera is working on another Fates Warning album...haha
Great band. I was fortunate to have seen them open for MSG at the Vic in Chicago in 1988. I met the late great Dave Prichard there. Spoke with him for about 10 minutes. Very nice guy. RIP I'm only familiar with their first 4 LPs 4) March of the Saint 3) Raising Fear 2) Symbol of Salvation 1) Delirious Nomad
Pete, I'm really glad to see you give a shout-out to this classic metal band. You're right that they are hard to pigeonhole. Back in the day they were just good solid metal. I think that's a quality they share with Trouble. Great metal band, yet not a lot of people have even heard of them. Having said that: 1. Delirious Nomad (the first album I ever heard from them. Classic!). 2. Raising Fear (Chemical Euphoria is my favorite original from this album. And their cover of Saturday Night Special is better than the original. There! I said it!). 3. March of the Saint 4. Symbol of Salvation Honestly I'm not familiar with any albums after this. A couple songs, yes. The Pillar and one song from La Raza.
Hi Pete. I've only watched 3:18 of this video, and I'm already compelled to comment (even before getting your rankings of Armored Saint). You're right...people need to LISTEN, and comprehend what you CLEARLY state at the beginning of each "rank 'em" video! You always state that they're solely YOUR rankings, and yours alone! If anyone's rankings differ from yours...FANTASTIC!! Like you always say brother Pete...we all hear songs differently, and everyone's musical tastes vary to some degree!! You always say, if you disagree with my rankings....what are your rankings!? Let's get some discussions going! AND, you always say..."there is no right or wrong answer!" Dude...you must get real tired of saying that time and time again!!! WTF
I'm beyond tired of saying it...yet, the trolls just don't listen. I got sick to my stomach reading so many of those types of comments on the Motorhead video, and I had to block a few people who just took things too far. It' s mind boggling...
Been waiting for this show and following these guys since eighties aswell . Best metal band don't worry about the small discography for one reason or another. All kick arse. ranked Revelation higher than most due to personal preference and definitely Symbol top, 7 Win hands down 6 Delirious Nomad 5 Raising Fear 4 La Raza 3 March of the Saint 2 Revelation 1 Symbol of Salvation Can't wait for top 10 songs. great stuff!!
Difficult to rank these. Not a bad album among them. Mine would be 1. Symbol, 2. Delirious, 3. March, 4. Raising, 5 Win, 6. Raza & 7. Revelation. Great band.
I cant believe you dont listen! Haha that made me chuckle. I like the Revelations album a LOT, but i think it's mostly because that was the album i discovered them on. I had to hear the band with the Anthrax singer, as i said at that time, haha. Big John Bush fan. I havent heard anything past that album though, which i should rectify.
Symbol of Salvation is an excellent album and will always be my favourite of theirs, then March.....,Win Hands Down and La Raza.I haven't heard the others but I will check them out.
I've had most of their earlier stuff from years back, but I just picked up Win Hands Down the other day, and it wasn't too bad! I like Revelation more, but was amazed at how good John Bush still sounded. Has his voice really aged at all? Ive always called him the Bruce Willis of heavy metal. I have to give my number one spot to Delirious Nomad!
Oooh, a Zero Hour shirt. Did you see that Andreas Blomquist from Seventh Wonder is now also playing bass for Zero Hour? (I got tired of scrolling through the comments to see if someone else already mentioned this!)
Last train home. Whatta awesome masterpiece. I was something like 16yrs when i heard that. "what is this? Wow" Still kicks ass, also as Badlands - voodoo highway album.
John Bush is the most underrated singer ever. Love Armored Saint and the Anthrax albums with him.
"Delirious Nomad" is my favorite, simply captivating.
Agreed
This is the album that turned me on to Armored Saint to begin with. I borrowed it from my buddy and he played hell getting it back, LOL.

Yes just finding this today after seeing them open for Queensryche last night. Even got to say hello to Pete there too.
I cannot believe Pete is wearing a Zero Hour shirt!!! Such a magnificent, obscure band. Love it, Pete!!!

1) Delirious 2) March 3) Symbol 4) Raising Fear. One of the best live shows in Greece ever...
Thnx, one of my fav bands ever
Hi Pete… revisiting some of your older rankings, where would you place Punching The Sky (2020) on this catalog? Just out of curiosity cause I really like that last record, cheers!
One of my all time favorite bands. Not a week album. I got to see them on the Raising Fear tour with Dan Pritchard. The opened for King Diamond.
That was the first tour I ever roadied. Where did you see them?
Rochester NY at the Renaissance theater.
I think that was the third night of the tour. The only thing I remember about Rochester is the House of Guitars.
Amen!
Amen, Mr. Easter!
I understand you, the idea and your list. carry on, Pete! We love you, the nerds from Germany!
P.S. even if you have two albums, one is first - is other one is second!
Awesome Armored Saint are A great Traditional Heavy Metal Band Your Definitely Have Awesome taste In Music Pete 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I saw them open for Quiet Riot on the Condition critical tour. Armored Saint were in full armor and touring to support their March of the saint album.
Do you think there's a curve between productivity and consistent quality and which act do you think has maintained it over the greatest number of releases?
1. March of the Saint
2. Delirious Nomad
3. Symbol of Salvation
4. Revelation
5. Raising Fear
6. Win Hands Down
7. La Raza
One of my top 10 favorite bands of all-time! Killer live too.
I don’t I’ve ever heard an Armored Saint song, I’ll explore, thanks Pete
Also, kudos to you for doing videos on less-known groups instead of just always the bigger names like Sabbath, Metallica, Priest, Maiden etc.
Very Intestine. I love it! keep on Kranking the Saint. just wait till you hear the new Record! wooooohooo! thank you for doing this! All the Best, ~ Gonzo Sandoval
thanks Gonzo! Looking forward to it!
Haven't done Testament albums, but Top 10 songs. Perhaps in the future though. UDO I don't have enough of.
Great great band. Underrated band.
1. March of the Saint
2. Raising Fear
3. Delirious Nomad
4. La Raza
5. Symbol of Salvation
6. Revelation
7. Win Hands Down
Now to Pete... see if we are close Brother and stay safe!!!
I grew up in the LA area and saw Saint many times in different clubs 1983 and 84.
Great Live Band!!!
That being said, muddy or not, March Of The Saint is my favorite.
Back then...Leatherwolf was another Great Live Band with their original lineup. (LA area clubs)
Raising Fear is a BEAST of an album.
I'm with you Pete on La Raza. It's a KILLER album (can't believe it's already 10 years old) and it's their best since Symbol of Salvation imo.
8) Revelation
7) La Raza
6) Raising Fear (Don't get me wrong - I like every song on here!)
5) Armored Saint EP
4) Win Hands Down
3) Delirious Nomad
2) Symbol of Salvation
1) March of the Saint
Thanks, Pete! I still think that you're reading my mind, though, as I just checked a couple days back (yes, I use the playlists!!!) if you had done an Armored Saint list.
Also, I had to come back after watching to say that I love that Zero Hour shirt!!! I might have to order one of those for myself!
Raising Fear will always be my favorite.
i agree with your rankings perfectly !!!
1) Symbol (easy choice)
2) Raising
3) Delirious
4) Revelation
5) March
6) Win
7) La Raza
Yep this is where I put them too...good job !!
Great band. I was fortunate to have seen them open for MSG at the Vic in Chicago in 1988. I met the late great Dave Prichard there. Spoke with him for about 10 minutes. Very nice guy. RIP
I'm only familiar with their first 4 LPs
4) March of the Saint
3) Raising Fear
2) Symbol of Salvation
1) Delirious Nomad
forever Raising Fear
Pete,I have the Japanese version of Revelation with the bonus track-Shadows-killer demo with Pritchard on it. Have you heard it??
🤔 I don’t think so
where do you rate their latest release in your ranking? Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants? classic AS
Pete, I'm really glad to see you give a shout-out to this classic metal band. You're right that they are hard to pigeonhole. Back in the day they were just good solid metal. I think that's a quality they share with Trouble. Great metal band, yet not a lot of people have even heard of them.
Having said that:
1. Delirious Nomad (the first album I ever heard from them. Classic!).
2. Raising Fear (Chemical Euphoria is my favorite original from this album. And their cover of Saturday Night Special is better than the original. There! I said it!).
3. March of the Saint
4. Symbol of Salvation
Honestly I'm not familiar with any albums after this.
@@seaoftranquilityprog/ I rewatched this/. And 4 years later. How DARE you Pete ? Still applies. lol. Wow. 4 years flew by . Thanks again Pete 👍💯
Symbol of Salvation.... is their masterpiece. If any of you haven't seen them live... you're missing out.
March of the Saint has always been one of my favorite albums since it came out.
You should do a video on your favorite vocalists of all time.
Been waiting for this show and following these guys since eighties aswell . Best metal band don't worry about the small discography for one reason or another.
All kick arse. ranked Revelation higher than most due to personal preference and definitely Symbol top,
7 Win hands down
6 Delirious Nomad
5 Raising Fear
4 La Raza
3 March of the Saint
2 Revelation
1 Symbol of Salvation
Can't wait for top 10 songs. great stuff!!
A band I’ve never really given a chance. On the strength of your recommendation, I’ve ordered Symbol Of Salvation.
Have you done a overkill ranking yet
Just a top 10 songs show.
Sea of Tranquility any thoughts to doing a full album ranking
I've had most of their earlier stuff from years back, but I just picked up Win Hands Down the other day, and it wasn't too bad! I like Revelation more, but was amazed at how good John Bush still sounded. Has his voice really aged at all? Ive always called him the Bruce Willis of heavy metal. I have to give my number one spot to Delirious Nomad!
Great band! That tour with Metallica and WASP was also one of my very first concerts.
I love the band to bro I like your list very cool
Love 'em!
Great band
Love Saint! Personally I would flip flop #1 & #2 (Reign of Fire is probably my favorite song though). Keep up the great content!
Oooh, a Zero Hour shirt. Did you see that Andreas Blomquist from Seventh Wonder is now also playing bass for Zero Hour? (I got tired of scrolling through the comments to see if someone else already mentioned this!)
Rock Candy Records has remastered March Of The Saint and Delirious Nomad. Those are well upgraded and worth buying again
Last train home. Whatta awesome masterpiece. I was something like 16yrs when i heard that. "what is this? Wow"
Still kicks ass, also as Badlands - voodoo highway album.
