Lower Salt River Kayaking, April 14, 2024

  • A kayak float on the Lower Salt River near Mesa, Arizona on April 14, 2024. The flow was about 770 cubic feet per second through most of the float. This video is over 35 minutes long because I was trying to point out a number of features of the river to a paddler who might be relatively new to it, as well as to point out any changes in the river since last year.

    Thanks for sharing. How long did it take you? And how do you learn how much water is going down the salt river?

      @chrisalston5367 We launched at about 8:45 a.m. and took off the river at about 11:45 a.m., which included about a 30 minute break. I check the following site to get flow rates for the Lower Salt: waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/09502000/#parameterCode=00060&period=P7D
