I'm so sad I'm not able to do this more with the knife I bought from your shop... I realised that soap can be pretty expensive, because you mess up a lot at first, so it completely wastes one soap because as a beginner, I can't do it properly like you from the first trial...
Is there a way to train first without wasting anything...? Using something like modelling clay or something..?
In the US they sell a soap called Irish spring and it is pretty cheap and good to carve with, the only downside is that it doesn't have many colors to choose from. Hope this helps!😁

@@LadyPrincessDiana Well in that case you can carve soft candle wax but I'm not sure if they are any cheaper than soap bars.
There are a lot of soap brands that work. I know a lot of European countries sell Dove, which is a good texture to work with. Anything similar will work as well. In the US, I pick up soaps from the dollar store so that they're cheap for practicing (or sculptural work that will sit more than it's ever used).
If you want to use a clay to practice, pick the hardest polymer clay you can find, condition it well, shape it into a soap shape, let it sit for a day to firm up from being worked, and practice on that. As long as you don't bake it you can reuse the clay as much as you want. This will not be an exact match for carving soap, but is about as close as you can get. Clays that need to be baked in a kiln can work as well, if not better, but they tend to be more expensive where I live. Also, the polymer clay can be sculpted and baked in the oven when you don't need it for practice anymore, while clays that need a kiln are not as easy to use and get fired.
A good thing to do to prevent soap waste is either buy or make a soap bag out of cotton yarn or old towels that you can put your scraps in. This can be hung in the bath/shower or by a sink so you can use the soap bits. No waste! If you learn to make cute enough soap bags they can be a good gift, too!
