    I love how your videos are entertaining to watch even for non-violinists! :D

    Looks useful to establish an initial feeling of "straightness" in the bow. The student still has to learn to use the whole bow and figure out the mechanics of their bow arm from shoulder to finger tip.

    Best bowing device = a mirror

      wajang1000 I agree, but you have to twist your head, which makes it sometimes unreliable. But I personally use a mirror every now and then for correcting the bow angle.

      i disaggree. i'm a beginner. i don't even know what a straight bowing is. if i'm in a mirror, i'm into an angle which wil obviously also be mirrored. unless my stroke is perfectly parallel to the mirror even if it's straight it would be non straight looking. as a beginner - i don't know what i'm doing. so, such a tool would be great!

      I agree! Not everybody has this sense for the correct angle when looking into a mirror (and it goes away fast, when the head is turned to the violin again). I do know violinists who practice with mirrors and still not have a particularly straight bow. It is a good tool, if you know how to use it though.

    Interesting! Could have definitely used this in the early days! How I struggled with a straight bow!! You sound amazing without it, btw! :)

      Thank you man! I am not that satisfied with my playing lately. I have much to teach and so little time to practice. Hoping for better times and tackle a big concerto again!

    Es bueno para llevar perpendicular el arco sobre las cuerdas y aprender el movimiento correcto

      The device definitely can help! In some cases I tested it with students and they learn faster the correct movement!

      Ja genau, Ich bin auch ständig am Frosch und an der Spitze angestoßen. Aber das sind Bogenstellen, die meine Schüler gar nicht oft benutzen :D

    Where can I buy this thing for my violin. I am in NZ. Maybe I should go to my local music store first and ask if they have something similar to this.

    • @SimonStreuffViolinEducation
      @SimonStreuffViolinEducation  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are in the EU, you can order it from polychord.com I think! If you are in the US, I think you can find it on amazon.com!

    Hello my friend.
    I have a ?
    My bow always vibrate a lot
    When I'm playing.
    How can I control the bow?

    • @SimonStreuffViolinEducation
      @SimonStreuffViolinEducation  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes it helps to play with more weight into the bow and more bow speed. That way you overcome the vibration of the bow and get a fuller sound. Relax your right arm and translate the weight into the string. At the same time move more to the bridge with the contact point. Flexible and at the same time controlled fingers at the right hand are also helpful! Also check you bow grip!
