Great vid as always. From your previous video, I was planning to stick to using my RTX 3070 but found a good deal and bought an RTX 4080 Super. It's indeed a great GPU even for 4K gaming. If it struggles to some AAA games, the Frame Gen and DLSS Quality really help on maintaining a decent framerate.

Great video, but i think it's sad that Nvidia is giving game devs these days a free pass to make poorly optimized games while expecting us to buy new gpu's every year. There shouldn't be massive 50fps swings and 12gb of vram usage. Most games from 5 years ago didn't do this and to be honest look and play better.
    Why? Because they're optimized properly.

Recently upgraded to 4080 super. I was already on am4 platform running a 3700x, so just swapped it with a cheap 5700x3d. I was worried at first that it might bottleneck 4080 super, but that not the case. Gpu utilization sits between 95-99% and cpu utilization nearly 50%, although sometimes it does shoot up to 70%. The performance is rock solid. I tried cyberpunk at 4k with ultra preset, ssr medium and fog quality medium, dlss quality and frame gen on. And it easily runs it above 140fps most of time. I am using 4k 144 Hz monitor so that's a perfect fps 😊.
I have tested a couple of other games as well on this combo like shadow of tomb raider, red dead 2, metro exodus, spiderman miles morales, crysis 2 remastered, ghost recon wildlands, breakpoint, cod black ops cold war.
All of them run really smooth at high to ultra settings with dlss quality whichever games support it and I easily manage to get above 120 fps (mostly it's higher than this, consider this as lower threshold).
I don't care about the crap RT as it just reduces the fps by half and mostly games look good at hight to ultra settings even without RT. 120+ fps is what I target for abd this combo just hits that without any hickups.
I was earlier planning to upgrade to 9800x3d when it comes out but I might skip it out as for my 4080 super the 5700x3d just does the job fine.
There was a moment when I thought of getting 7800x3d because it is indeed a powerful cpu but just saved money as I would have to get a new motherboard and ram.

I'd like to know from you if you are satisfied of the results and don't need more or disappointed, also would you say that since you are spending big money anyway people should consider to spend more and get a 4090 or is the upgrade too expensive and not valuable for what you get (i mean the upgrade is not linear).
    Thank you!

The amount of effort you put in this video including the timestamps as well is crazy, you're hard work will not go unnoticed. 4080S actually did really well, the price is on the expensive side. My question is, will 16GB of VRAM be enough for the future? Of course lowering resolution will lower VRAM usage, in this case 1440P is the sweet spot I think.

Hello, how have you achieved an overclock of 2940mhz and at the same time lower the consumption? Have you done it with the MSI afterburner? Is it an overclock done manually with the curve or have you simply increased the power limit and added the increase to the core clock and memory clock by entering the numbers? I have a 4080 super as well and with the stock values the cutoff clock reaches 2775mhz, 72° and a consumption of 310W. I have only managed to lower the temperatures (63°) by undervolting at 2550mhz and 250w with the corresponding loss of performance. It is surprising to see such a significant increase in core clock (2940mhz) along with such low temperatures (58°) and such low consumption (250W). I would like to apply the same settings and check the result I get, I still have time to return the GPU since the 72° temperature does not convince me, taking into account that the ambient temperature is now 22°/23° and in summer it usually be close to 33°/34°, also if now that it is new it reaches 72°, it will surely increase even more as time passes.

Hi, im getting exacly the same setup but with Ryzen9 7950X3D, Do I need to undervolt and optimize to achieve such results and temperatures the same as you in games? Did you have turbo boost turned on on the CPU or did everything was on the deafult and the only thing you did was download the drivers?

My 7700x is tweak and produce less heat than your 7950x3d. You can use curve optimizer for that cpu

Looks like some overclocking and DLSS balanced is required for this card to get stable 60FPS in RT intensive games like AW2 and CBP2077. This is why I stick to ultrawide for now, without a 4090 which can melt you still can't have a proper 4K experience without compromises.

@anitaremenarova6662 i would have to disagree. I literally dropped my 4080s in my rig. Loaded up msi afterburner. Added 150 to core and 650 to memory 1 try and been stable gaming for over a month. Running at 2970mhz give or take under heavy load w/temps staying at or below 72 degrees. It very easy. Start low if u want, Most won't crash than, and add increments from. There. Or start higher and u know your threshold quicker, it will crash lower the numbers ect. U don't even need the other programs

    • @anitaremenarova6662

@@JtotheM 150 core, 650 mem is barely an overclock. Unless you get lucky and can maintain a stable 200-250 core and 1000-1200 mem (latter part only being relevant for 4K or higher) you might as well not bother because it's like 3% uplift which you won't even notice. Nowadays it's only worth doing on AMD cards or if you get a premium model Nvidia card and pray you lucked out with above average silicon.

    i have a 5800x3d with a 4080 non super.
the only thing that i hate on my computer is storage. i'm literally using 2 ssds on the USB ports because i don't have enough I/O for it all. one of my sata ports is broken, and the other 3 are already used up, and so is the one nvme slot on the board. plus pci-e gen 3 isn't enough for this gpu plus that board, pci gen 3 is quite limiting, so if i choose to put a pcie nvme board, i'm going to lose gpu performance.
i wish large ssds weren't exponentially more expensive than the 2tb ones :(

@@AncientGameplays I mean, OG is 2.9 slot not 2.96 (1.2cm less width), different radiator, PCB has smaller cutout (through which less air goes straight up into airflow to CPU cooler), different VRM positioning, middle fan has +2 blades probably cuz hotter since more VRM on the middle, possibly different capacitors (no round ones) which makes me extra worried about coil whine (but that's random anyway from what I heard and I don't know the difference anyway), OG doesn't come with GPU sag support because it also has exta metal frame and it doesn't bend (maybe).
Could only find this on Asus ch-en site scrolling way down and just looking at the different 3D models. But yea, no idea if any of that is relevant (I keep asking ppl about this for 2 weeks) or worth the current price difference.. Someone said better radiator design (possibly the one they had for RDNA2 or close) but then I have no idea why the first non-OG didn't just use that and it took them until 24th Jan to make the OG model.

Great video, clear and detailed. But for me, a video card is not only technology, DLSS and so on, but also the technological filling itself. And in terms of hardware, Nvidia has saved as much as possible and will continue to save, on the size of the textolite board, on the component base, on the amount of video memory, on this new connector. As a result, all the hardware warms each other and the resource of the card is, to put it mildly, in question. In my country, repairing cards from Nvidia is a well-established business, which involuntarily makes you wonder whether all this is necessary, and for such money. By the way, people who repair cards with us don’t like AMD. After all, the video chip usually fails there, after it was usually driven to death by mining or improper operation

I think HU mentioned it before, but only the 4090 is really the first true 4k card. Seeing only roughly 60Fps in 2 year old games is just not where its at. I know Upscaling levels the 4080 kind of up to the 4090, but in 1-2 years this probably will be at around 60fps with upscaling and that´s not enough for those expensive cards. It really is not worth it in the long run pc part price degradation is so vicious because of the entry price being just too high. But to my original point, next gen may be the first true 4k gen and I would advise anyone to wait for the end of the year to make a decision to wait even a few months or buy at around December, your product otherwise will probably lose value a lot faster and you will have a still compromised experience.
I think that those products actually aren´t competing primarily in effectiveness but in marketing appeal. It´s much more about making it look like it´s sth desirable than actually making sth desirable.
