The sound is alarming! From the water drops to the loud slam of the books falling, the screams, etc. I believe there were at least two entities. One of them seemed helpful, probably trapped in there too, trying to warn the woman. On the other hand, there was an evil woman, possibly the owner of the estate? Did she drown in her bathtub? (That's maybe why we hear the water at the beginning?) The young woman in the painting over the cabinet? I like the purple lighting beneath it to bring out her dress. She's often in the frame, so It's like you're discreetly letting the audience know it's a special artwork. Or maybe she's the helpful spirit and loves purple - because the notes are written in purple ink. The Gatsby book had a light purple cover too. This is probably a big reach, but the silhouette appeared to have a similar hairstyle as the painting. :p Maybe it was just one wicked entity teasing her with the notes, knowing she wouldn't let her leave at any time. I would've run out of there after the first book fell. That's enough for me! Haha. The creepiness was effectively conveyed without resorting to gore. It was all about the disturbing sounds and echoes. The exterior shot that pans up at 3:15 might clue us in that something awful happened on the top floor. This short reminded me of the "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" books, where the creature/ghost gets closer and closer… and closer! - until the last sentence. I really enjoyed it! Also, I adore older music at the beginning and end; what is the name of the song you used? I like it!
Wow.. loved your interpretation. I like movies which leave room for the viewers to use their artistic imagination and express their version. Your point of view got me thinking and I am going to re-watch now as I feel I missed a few things that you pointed out ❤
Thank you for such a brilliant analysis of the film, I loved reading every single word of it. I am pinning this so that whenever I revisit this video, I see this comment first and get inspired. Yes I was trying to play with the idea of two entities one who tries to warn her and the other the dark sinister one which we see at the end. The woman in the painting over the cabinet was something that really intrigued me when I was shooting but did not necessarily think about tying her up with the lady in black, but now that you say it, it is such a nice idea 😀 . The purple light was a led tube light that I placed there since the color really complimented the tone and hence I went with that particular color. The exterior pan shot was an indication of something sinister coming down to the library as that shot is followed by the last book falling from the top of the shelf. I ideally wanted this shot to be pan down but that shot was ruined and I realised that in the edit so I went with the reverse shot 😀. I took a look at the silhoutte and her hairstyle is a bit similar but that is purely coincidental and eerie (you have a great eye 😀😃).At the end the when the door slams shut the sounds you hear are mostly the flipping of book pages and books falling down as I tried to keep the sounds as minimal and ambient as possible unless needed. Thank you once again for watching and loved reading such a lovely comment, it really made me see this movie from an even interesting perspective ❤️The song name is A life like this by River Lume, it is a great catchy song 🙂
@@jiyakapurfilms Wow, I appreciate the pin! Thank you for explaining your film and story process. And for the song name. Purple is a beautiful color. Besides royalty, it is also used for the mystery genre. This mansion looks full of mysteries. I watched this twice and a 3rd time to make sure of what I was hearing and seeing before I wrote my Thesis. 😆
@@jiyakapurfilms As for the painting, if she were linked to the dark entity, it would be a sad thing. She looked bright, sweet, and beautiful. It would be a remarkable contrast to the evil, vengeful shadow she now is.
What I genuinely love about your films is that you take these simple concepts and turn them into absolutely terrifying horror stories. I loved the use of sound in this one
Thanks for the love and support. Yes I tried to keep the music much more minimal and grounded in this one, I wanted to convey that feeling of trapped in a library, infact some of the music is just made from flipping book pages 😀😃
@@jiyakapurfilms I could feel the tension at the end, plus what you did with the wall next to the window at the end was so cool that made it all the more scary
This is good. I love horror stories set in libraries, my favorite part was when either the entity or main character's silhouette slowly appears on the building.
Yes that was the silhouette of the entity slowly appearing on the wall as she consumes the poor girl within those walls and that is my fav part as well 😀. Thank you so much for watching as always 🙂
I didn't notice the shape on the wall on first viewing until it was complete. The second time I watched, it was so creepy watching it gradually deepen. Great example of slowly building dread!
Great cinematography! If I were in that situation and that kept happening, I would have been a little more weirded out. Even at first. You should have added more shots of the actresses reaction to the weird notes. Otherwise, we'll done! I also loved the effect with the door. Very strange! It was great.

Certainly, The Music 🎶 Wow!! I Had To Listen It Separately ✨❤ Majestic!! Although, I Was Constantly Worrying What Would Happen To The Lady ( Those Notes ) 😳 5:20 - 5:55 Goosebumps!! That Silhouette Figure Grew Darker And Darker 🗿 And Then Freak! Unpretentiously Ended 👀 These Are Some Staggering Masterpieces That Deserves A Lot Of Visualisation & Reach 📈⭐ Totally Meticulous!! 🔥💯
If she was wearing a color that contrasts with the heavy purple theme that would be sick. Like if her cardigan was green it would make rhw eye go "nice". In my opinion, idk if that was a deliberate choice
Actually, she should have checked for any escape routes other than the main door before entering the room. That would have saved her 😂 by jumping from the large window.
It's that old saying ta snooze ya lose & she had her chance to get out but she just ignored the warnings ,yes it's now to late till the next one come to take her place but just for a short time & then they will join the fold. Houses aren't bad but what may lurk in their history & in the walls just may be . We must thank the folks that always do the wrong things or Horror would only half the fun.
First mistake not wearing shoes, not sure if that was something that had to be done for the filming. Second mistake ignoring the warnings of I'm imagining the previous victim to get out. Books randomly falling from shelves with notes of warning in them, what did she want to get the message through to her literal writing on the wall telling her to get out?
