- I’ve explained how to convert your visitor visa or tourist visa to a work visa or Canada work permit in 2023 through a public policy issued by IRCC that allows foreign residents to apply for a work permit from within Canada. This applies to people planning to come to Canada on a visitor visa as well, and those who have managed to secure a Canada job offer with an LMIA. Last date for this Public Policy has been extended to February 28th, 2025. More details in the Video!

Hi Jason. Thank you for this informative video. My husband and I have a visitor visa valid till 2025. Almost all jobs we apply to have a clause if we are legally entitled to work in Canada and upon selecting 'No', the application gets rejected. Is this applicable to LMIA approved job vacancies as well?

Hi.. I have a doubt about getting a visitor visa. Canada government officially announced that we can convert visitor visa to work visa. Then why should I convince the visa officer that I will return back to India after my visa expires? I think we can't apply for a visitor visa without holding a proper job..

Your husband will get an employer-specific work permit, you'll get an open work permit, and your kids can get visitor/student permits as may be needed.

So basically..first we need to get hired by LMIA approved companies and then we will be eligible to apply for work visa? Right? ....if YES .in this case i can be in dubai...and search for jobs in Canada. ..once i have agreement with the employer...i can travel to Canada and start my process to change my visitor visa to work visa. ?

You can simply fly there, find an employer, and apply for an employer-specific work permit.
