Operation Barbarossa ended up being failure in December 1941 after battle of Moscow. German and other axis forces eventually ran into supply and other logistical problems on eastern front and eventually got overwhelmed by brave Russian forces. It really went downhill in 1943 after battles at Stalingrad and Kursk

Honestly true, people do not understand that D-DAY would not have happened had it not been for the brave Soviets who had the highest number of deaths. I believe it was 27,000,000 deaths. Barbarossa was the largest invasion force in human history, I don’t think anyone will ever top that magnitude. 3.8 million men, 3000 tanks, 2500 aircraft, 7000 artillery pieces and invading across a 1800 mile front from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. The enormity of this invasion has been forgotten.

@@talitoshijamir164 Soviet union actually kept a huge number of troops in the far East in case of the Japan invasion. These were the units that fought in China against Japanese in 1937. So, Soviets were ready to fight on 2 fronts. You can Google it

Много ветеранов Вермахта ещё живы, потому что в Германии медицина соответствующая. На лидирующих позициях во всем мире находится. Для ветеранов второй мировой, немецкое правительство предоставляет бесплатное лечение на всю жизнь. Большие денежные довольствия, выплаты и так далее. Если сравнивать с Российскими, то просто гигантские.
А вот наших ветеранов, к сожалению уже остались единицы. Почему? Думаю объяснять не надо. Просто сравните уровень медицины в Германии и России. И как относятся к ветеранам в этих странах, и сразу станет понятно. Путин сгоняет на свой шабаш ряженых ветеранов, когда настоящие ветераны доживают остатки своих дней в бараках и скотских условиях. Пока в России есть путинизм и диктатура, до ветеранов не будет никому дела, и про них будут вспоминать только один день в году, на 9 мая. Вообще позорище полное, не описать словами.

Lets get more specific and compare troops and equipment strength in mid 1941 European front only, Soviets vs Nazi-Germany:
Soldiers: 4.5 mil vs 3.5 mil
Reserves: 14 Mio vs 3 Mio
Paratroops: 100.000 vs 20.000
Artillery guns: 20.000 vs 8.000
Tanks mostly lights: 12.000 vs 3.400
Modern medium + heavy tanks: 1400 T-34, 700 KV-1 vs 0
War planes: 8.000 vs 2.400

Before germans attacked ussr in 1941, germans attaced polish in 1939, france and norway in 1940, yugoslavia, bolgaria, greece and crite. About Finland - the USSR was very important to move the border from the big city of St. Petersburg, and first stalin offer finland to payed an contribution for the Finish territory near St. Petersburg and he also offered Finland to give the territory three times more in soviet Karelia. Only when Finland refused USSR declared war Finland. And even when soviet military destroyed line of Mannergame and after that USSR could conquer all Finland -Stalin did not do this and left Finland free. For comparison, Hitler after the annexation of the Sudetenland conquered all of Czechoslovakia
this is the main reason why Stalin pushed the borders of the USSR and created a large army - he wanted to protect socialism from capitalism

Wehrmacht was overrated, they were lucky in their first campaigns, because nobody wanted to fight after WWI. Operation Barbarossa however was a huge disaster.
