    These guys will go down in history for the next 200+ years, the same as the navvies from the 19th century who built our original railway network. All this naysaying will be completely forgotten about in a couple of decades when trains are zooming up and down. I just hope we aren't also regretting not finishing the entire route when we had the chance now!

    I hope the Labour government watch these videos and approve the original plan they made, and this can be completed to Manchester and Leeds, and of course all the way down to Euston that’s the best way to get a good return on the taxpayers investment

      The PM's official spokesperson stated just last week that despite rumours to the contrary, the government was NOT considering resurrecting plans for HS2 to continue on to Crewe or Manchester adding that .. "poor project management, inflation & poor performance from the chain had caused costs to spiral out of control" which is excellent news as HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.

    • @CRIMSONANT1
      @CRIMSONANT1 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@tomhoworth1685.. 6 railways to reopen, to make the rail network work better. These include the Leamside Line (Darlington/Newcastle) & the East-West line (Oxford/ Cambridge).
      Reopening lines like these would open up job opportunities & reduce the number of passengers forced to travel by car or train via London.
      HS2 would need more money spent on London transport but the Northern Hub proposals focuses spending on transport projects in the North.
      92% of medium & long distance passengers in Britain are happy with the time tabled speed of their journeys, according to a recent EU survey - the need is to increase & improve commuter services, not long distance.
      The top ten most over-crowded trains are on the Great Western Line into Paddington, not the WCML.
      There are still no plans to electrify large parts of the UK’s mainline railway network: if a modern railway is our goal, full electrification should be a priority.
      It's no use arguing for both HS2 & these other investments - the money just isn't there.

      Who knows? Whether it goes ahead or not, building the tunnel from Manchester City Centre to Manchester Airport and join it up with the WCML should be the next priority, That will be an asset for decades to come whether they build HS2 or not

      you'll be able to get hs2 trains to manchester, but it might be just as expensive and conjested as before if not worse if the aditional works don't get completed

    • @thefowlyetti2
      @thefowlyetti2 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      They want to at least create a new line, thats cheaper and not as fast, but will at least solve the capacity issue + will use the same trains so you would just be traveling a little slower on the sections from crewe onwards north.

      The Delay has been minimal , unfortunately the only hold ups have not been caused by HS2 ,but by idiots who ignored the 40mph speed limit and have crashed either into the concrete safety barrier or into other vehicles
