Thanks! The clear plastic ball was too smooth to work with the existing mouse & roller setup in the base and didn't work with just the optics so it required the new mouse setup using a rubber ball.
It feels really intuitive to play with a ball like this but I suspect that if you were going head to head with someone using a traditional controller that then they would win.
Glad you're interested! The three deodorant rollers just help keep the plastic ball in place so there's actually only one optical mouse underneath. The plastic ball is transparent so I can't reliably detect the rotation optically and the earlier version used a 4th deodorant roller to help pick up the movement of a soccer ball but this one is too smooth for that to work well. Instead, I added the bearings with a toy rubber ball which rolls easily and the optical mouse is able to track it as it moves.
Great song pick
the peak of monkey engineering is upon us, jokes aside very nice work
Thanks!
this reminded me i probably should play monkey ball again sometime soon. fantastic work!
Thanks! They are fun games.
Delightful!! I love the playful deconstruction of the previous model haha

Wow, that's very impressive!
Thanks!
This is awesome! Genius application of the ball mouse, it's such an elegant solution that does exactly what you need it to. Great work :)
Both hilarious and impressive.
😄
AMAZING
What a cool project! It turned out great! I love the video too
I wonder how much easier it is to play the game with that

this is SO COOL
Super curious about the triple mouse connection setup- I’m tech un-savvy, so this is really fascinating how you’ve done it 😮
