My experience going to America for the first time was in was March 2020 . MY mum and i were extremely excited for the trip. My husband was waiting for me in the US and i was pregnant with our baby. I had my ticket and visa ready and packed everything that i needed. My mum had invited all her friends to escort me to the airport. One week to my travel date the international flights were cancelled and i didn't travel. I remember my mum's friends mocking us and laughing at us. I could stay in my mum's house all the time. I could not even go to the shopping centre😅😅. When flights resumed in August we didn't tell anyone. My mum, my sister and my niece took to the airport and i made it to Washington DC and eventually to Michigan where we live. My advice is that thing happens the last minutes and not everyone is happy for you. Just keep the travel plans to yourself and keep God first.

For me I believe what God has planned, no one can change. I once missed a bus from malindi to nairobi, I was soo annoyed coz we used to travel together as business women... kumbe it was God's way of saving my life....we found the bus involved in an accident that killed almost everyone. We make our plans, God makes His, and His plans always prevail for those who trust in Him. Hawa wataenda tu, wakati wa Mungu ikifika. God fulfills hearts desires for those who trust in Him.

I hope one day this beautiful parents their Dreams will be fullfilled.

Woow what a jolly couple. We have very bad overzealous busy bodies who are racist too, over here in European airports. We cannot also ignore the fact that Kenyans cannot be trusted as in kuwambia bye bye unaenda mayolo...some are very jealous people. However, I have learnt many things from Pastor Ngaruiya on Baruthi's channel. One of them being that we need to pray and ask God for guidance when about to make such big decisions in our lives......travelling to another 'land' requires God's blessings, something most of us ignore...kusafiri salama kwa hewa na kurudi. I believe they will travel again and make it.

I remember such incident happened to my parents in 2016 they were to travel to Germany,we were so excited they had told the whole village about the good news🤭...they had big bags full of good stuffs,me and my brother we escorted them to JKIA,all was going on well we had reached early,on the check line they were told that it's not where they are supposed to check in so we started running to where they were supposed to be,we bade them bye we were happy for them and we waited for them to call us and tell us that they are through so that we can go back home but to our shock, they told us after some minutes to come and pick their bags we are going back home together 😭😭😭,we cried not knowing what to do but we could do nothing, they were told that they didn't have the return ticket, but the return ticket was on the other side but for them they didn't have it,in that confusing time I also lost my phone,it was a sad night...but God made a way and after 3years they went and had a very good time there, they were so happy but this time we didn't inform anyone only our immediate neighbor🤭😆🙏 sorry for that family and I believe that even you God will one day make a way for you 🙏

Can people learn to go quietly without having a whole village involved and escorting you to the airport. That’s the strategy I took many years ago. Get a taxi and leave and even when coming back. Your leaving / arrival should be news to your husband, wife and children and the cab driver not to the public.

My first experience, going to using US using Netherlands as a point of transit was not a good one. My mum and I were stopped twice before we got to the waiting area for boarding. When we thought it was over, just before boarding, pulpits were assembled everywhere and we were freshly interviewed before we boarded the aircraft. I thought that was the norm, until I used Britain. I had an easy time and no one bothered me. From that day, I never use Netherlands as my point of entry. It is easy to be deported on some small twisted questions which some people don't understand.

@Jeremy, thanks for telling their story. A bit of a missed opportunity I think because the question still is why they were removed from the airport to an embassy while in transit. It can help a lot of people to know what happened here. It sounds like a travel visa issue which you don’t need for Kenyans if you stay in the international transit area. They should still be able to travel juu they were returned in transit and not by US immigration. Just a caution, avoid Schiphol airport at all costs because they have had major operational issues and understaffing. So no time ya kuresolve anything and they will “prioritize”who they want to help.

It's now a requirement to have a schengen transit visa if transiting through a schengen country which people are not aware about. This might be the reason why they were not able to proceed with the journey to US. Language barrier also contributed to the matter. As long there visa is still valid to the US, I don't see any issue with them trying again, but this time with a non European airline or fly direct. I believe in second chances. Amani ya bwana iwe nanyi.

@Susan Kamau..my two sense on this, first, lets remove the wicked witches na kamati ya roho chafu kwa hii stori. lets dwell on some "facts" as presented by the the many comments about the Amsterdam Transit. Many here are saying it's a Red Flag, that a transit visa is required. so may be they didn't have that. Secondly, language barrier, so the only individual how can shed light on this is the grandchild. Lastly, their visas are null and void. once that red stamp his your passport, you're cooked goose. they will need to apply for new passports. but then again I stand to be corrected.
