I like how the big gray and white birds wait until the crabs tear each other apart before they strike it's what's left so they have no way to defend themselves. Zero chance of survival.
I'm a latecomer to the Mass Effect series. Just finished the first and it's great that I can just roll through the trilogy because they were in my blind-spot for years.
Wow! I couldn't do that very well because just buying it on the PC for Steam, it has a tendency to overheat if played more than 5 hours and thus it gets lockdown to avoid damaging.
I did the same. Had never heard of it, but rented it on a whim because it was the same devs as KOTOR & Jade Empire, and I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi. Didn't stop playing the game until I beat it and did *everything*, then sat basking in the afterglow as this track played, knowing I'd just had a formative life experience.
A big thank you from me to whomever was responsible for putting this song at the end of Mass Effect. I discovered a great band with lots of talent. I am waiting to see what they do next. Long live the Faunts!
+1 that I say it's the best song on all of the Mass Effects and ive 100% all 3 but i all ways came back to ME1 just for this song before I had internet.
I think this song and video are so perfectly suited to the ME storyline. The idea of constantly fighting peers over superiority when a unified approach would be better in the face of a greater issue than any of you would individually dare consider. Until the time comes and something that could have been overcome in a alliance is now insurmountable when you're on your own.
Words can't describe the emotion this song manages to invoke at the end of ME1. Fits so well with Shepard's story. So powerful that I will never, EVER forget the end of that game because of it. Well done to Faunts for creating such a great song, and to be honest, I would have never known about this band if it wasn't for ME1.
Nothing wrong with saying we heard it from Mass Effect. It doesn't mean they're not good, it just means they're not that famous, and their song is mostly known from the game. But the song is great and has a true identity.
+Vibraveil Faunts is such an obscure band that most people would never have heard the song otherwise. I am deeply grateful for BioWare introducing me to this song and this band.
"And I need you to recover, because I can't make it on my own." Always made me think of Liara and her strong emotions for Sheppard during The Shadow Broker DLC.
I wrote this song for my brother in-law, who had cancer and unfortunately did not make it in the end. But I hear you, I remember that time distinctly. Hope you are well.
@@stevenbatke4167 This song came up in my playlist of favorite songs tonight while I am trying to make end-of-life decisions for my cat who has cancer. Actually I saw small bit of the music video on the TV first, and was absolutely fascinated by the concept. Sadly there was no title to indicate who sang the song or what it was called. So for years it just remained "that crab fighting music video". Then I finally got around playing the ME, some years after the trilogy had concluded. When the credits started rolling on the first game, I searched for the tune and ended up finding this video.
It's symbolic. Sandcastles to that of civilization, it's speaks to how fragile it is. Crabs fighting over who owns it, much like humans do fighting over who owns what in the world. The difference being we are not crustaceans we are human beings, and that fighting each other will only be to the ruin of us all. As for the seagulls and the wave, well i guess they are symbolic of the real dangers that we face, that we must do so together, because we can't make it on our own (read the lyrics). :)
First time I heard this song... God I freaking wish I would’ve savored it a little longer. The first time I finished ME1. 2007 seems so freaking far away now. Glad these stories and this awesome music is still being appreciated though 🤘

Yesterday I defeated Mass Effect 1 after a year of having it, and then I heard this song. I kept beating the game over and over just to hear this song! Then I found out All I had to do was go to extras and hit credits....I LOVE THIS SONG!
I beat Mass Effect on Xbox 360 for the first time in my life only just a week ago without remembering this song. Heard the song last night in a strip club, liked it, shazamed it and here I am now. Where's my life going...
