I agree with you at verse 17 that the people were afraid, i feel it is because it was something so unknown to them. maybe the magic taking place had them doubt everything they previously believed in, their values and opinions all but invalidated. it was probably very overwhelming and with that type of change i can see why they were afraid. sometimes we prefer to stay in our comfort zone even though the light may be calling us to another path-- out of fear. funny things we are, humans. we are creatures of habit after all, and stubborn at that! it is nice to beliee that i, like you, would be drawn to Jesus and his healing. blessings to you, jackie! thank you for your light and love!

Every no has a purpose. I never caught that the first time!
Also yeah, the story about the bleeding woman is my absolute FAVORITE. It's so intimate and special. If you watch it in the show The Chosen it's even more beautiful!

I don’t remember where I seen or heard this but someone explained the people were worried about the wrong things, they cared that the swine of pigs died (costing money) over caring that the man was healed. Again, just stating how people often focus on the wrong things. But perhaps it also was that they were afraid but that definitely made sense 😊

I believe the fact that 2,000 pigs drowned in the lake confirms there were about that many demons in the man. Also, before the demons left, the town's ppl should've been afraid. To me, it reminds me that we tend to go about our everyday lives complacent, assuming our next breath is guaranteed. Then, God gives us a word & we reject it or flee from it. Not because of fear for one's life, but more like a FOMO - having to let go of the things/ppl that bring us comfort. I recommend watching Brandon Robbins who also gives some great insight on this chapter. I believe it was him, or maybe it was a sermon I heard, but Jesus told hos own ppl not to tell anyone what He did, but amongst the Gentiles, he encouraged those He healed to go tell others.

I love this and your passion on studying the word.
I did have a question on why he didn’t want one person to tell about healing but the other he told to go tell everyone. I looked in enduring word and it wasn’t highlighted..

    Takeaways from this chapter:
A woman had so much faith in Jesus that she risked touching his clothes to try to be healed and it worked
Questions that came from reading this chapter:
Jesus usually said to keep his healing a secret but this time when a man was possessed and Jesus healed him Jesus told him to tell his family. Why did Jesus do this?
Other thoughts or insights the Lord has shared with me in this time:
    Having faith can heal you!

I think they wanted Him to leave because it was so scary. Like you mentioned in Ch 4, his disciples were even freaked out because the wind and waves obey Him. If we were there… we’d be freaked out too lol.

Usually Jesus tells people to not tell others of what he had done. Occasionally he had them go to the priest. Why did he tell this man go tell everyone?

I believe it is because it’s shows that Jesus doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called. No matter where you have been in life Jesus will use you to bring glory to the Kingdom. 😊

Mark 5:17 - the crowd cared more about normality and comfortability in their food/finance(pigs) and their own indifference toward the man to see the miracle the Lord had done. let us not be like them.
