As someone who used to cook in a James Beard award winning restaurant, I can assure you -- you married a GOOOOOD cook! I enjoy so much watching her just "throw stuff together" - as someone else said, it really is amazing and super fun to watch
Just so beautiful that the family sits down to the dinner meal, asks for God's blessings, and has family time together. Those that haven't had that as they have grown, are missing one of life's greatest pleasures.
She's such a little doll! And growing so fast. No sir! Enjoy that brief moment in time she WANTS to lie on your shoulder. Time moves fast and in a moment she'll be Buggy now. Soak it allll in!! ❤❤
I love the ‘waste not .. want not’ way of life you guys live as we are such a wasteful society these days 👌 I grew up with parents and grandparents that also used everything available to make meals and they also were very delicious 👍 love your cooking Meg 😊
How about making some wooden containers that would be stationary to put the bowls in deep enough they couldn’t get the bowls out. Put a small lip on the container so bowls couldn’t come out. Just a suggestion.
Meg, you absolutely amaze me! You win Mother & Wife of the year award for LIFE! 3 home cooked meals a day from scratch and 6 kids. Absolutely incredible!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
pigs and cows are very bad for "pugging" up the ground. they are heavy with tiny hooves so they make a deep hole in the mud, then water fills the spot and makes more mud and so on with every step. that will really make a mess. The bad smell is due to anaerobic batceria - they live without oxygen, you are correct, the ground was packed belwo and then pugged up to make the mud above. Using your tractor a couple times a year to push the chips into a pile to allow it to properly compost will work better in the end. And yes pigs will designate an area the furthest from thier food/sleeping area to poop in.
I AGREE on the BUTTER! YUMMY! I feel inspired to make a white sauce now... maybe add some Poblano Peppers for a Mexican flavor. I am VERY impressed with the woodchipper... I think we need to invest in one for our property, because we mostly just burn the limbs for firewood now,, but with all of our trees we really should bring the soil back with some of it! THANKS for showing your hard work come to benefit everyone.
You can't beat a good cook who can throw a great meal together out of bits of this and that. I always say, use all yout bits, together they can make a great song.
When I was able to shop and cook, If unexpected company dropped by, I could cook a good hearty meal in no time. With today’s instapots you can even fix a roast w/potatoes and carrots.
My great grandma and my grandma where masters at using left overs. Mom was pretty good at it. She would take the meat and veggies and put them in the blender ( before food producers where a staple) and add enough eggs to bind everything together. It was like egg fu young. Then fry them in some oil. We called them much patties. She ( and me ) fry left over spaghetti noodles in a bit of live oil and fry them until they are crisp and eat them as a snack, just dip them in ketchup or a bit of Japanese BBQ sauce. Mag, I make ox tail soup (well lately it's been beef shank cuz it's less expensive than ox tails) I do the veggie thing, the Trinity, and add pearl barley to the pot, and finish it off with ketchup to taste. The ketchup has vinegar in it that gives the soup just the right unomi vinegar snap to it. Yeah the broth gets very gel liken I'm going to have to try using the broth for making rice. I usually make Mexican rice (with V8 Subbing half the water with it). I'm currently cleaning my freezer out and what I thought was pork belly was straw meat, so I did a flash fry with olive oil, butter and garlic. We LOVE our butter, garlic just like you. 😊 BTW Elisabeth looks like buggy. Hows she doing with the baby??
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Daddy has his tractor in wood chipper. ……… Now Mamma needs her summer kitchen…. It’s her workshop too. 💞🕊💞🕊all the best for your family 🙋🏼♀️💞🕊💞🕊💞🕊💞🕊💞🕊blessings 🕊🕊🕊
Meg, my stepfather used to make meals like your white sauce pasta. He called them Mus(t)go dinners. Always different, always yummy. The Only problem was when he made something so very delicious, but it could never really be reproduced. I remember we would have family meals years later discussing Dad's Musgo Dinners!
I absolutely love you guys. ❤️❤️ the little one is so adorable. You can tell she’s you daughter. She looks like you all. Love seeing the oldest boy holding the baby. You are an amazing family.
grandma here. didnt get three minutes into vid, n eye lost it laughing. Ben, u r so beautiful. Cali boy turned pig farmer n figuring it out. All but shoes. Teach the youngins will. Gotta go do chores, will watch rest ltr. No fake crap is cool!
I love when you guys post a video. Pretty much the only TH-cam channel I've been looking forward to lately. Idk why! I don't know if you've seen my other posts but I'm pregnant at 35 after 12 years of infertility. I just found out it's a girl like two weeks ago! Gonna have my own Buggy running around in the garden with me soon! I'm 18 weeks.
02 août 2024 Bonjour from France. Thank you so much for all of your videos and sharing your days…brightens the corner of this 81-year-old lady. Jesus loves you...a.
I just realized I’ve been watching you guys for years. I remember Buggie being born, and I remember when you guys were living in CA, and then leaving and the road trip. It’s been a while!
My understanding is pigs pick a spot to use as a restroom area. My Uncle said that is what Piglet meant by saying he was going down to Poo(h) corner. You chose Meg, and she had mercy on you and took you up on the offer. 😛
Love Meg how you cook. I was taught by my dad if you use leftovers the meal would be so yummy. Monday was the day... Dad called it fridge clean out. LOL
It might be a good idea to rather address the problem of the water as to remedy the problem. Divert the stormwater away from the area if it is possible. Your place looks great!!
Such a lucky guy, to have real butter. I gave up margarine after living a year abroad and found out how much better it tasted, not knowing the health benefits. Now, I even refuse the seed oils having learned the risks.
Good morning beautiful people! I think the secret to a good marriage is teamwork and communication. My husband and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary in September. Wow! Where does the time go?! And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way!
I ADORE AND REALLY HAVE GREAT JOY IN WATCHING ALL OF YOUR FAMILY ... GOD BLESS AND PROTECT ALL OF YOU AND ALL OF YOUR GENERATIONS IN ALL AND BEYOND ALL TIME! LOVE U ALL LIKE FAMILY!
Take some of those oak trunks and use them at the upper end of the pig pens to create a retaining wall of sorts, just as a precautionary step to keep your tractor from sliding down the hill
Loving the new chipper set up. Helpful. Meg does cook like me. We laughed the other night identifying how many dinners we were eating. Then I’ll get sick of it and feed my dogs. 🤣
Oh how I relate with Meg’s inability to throw out a good broth. If nothing else, that broth is a great drink with eggs in the morning! Awesome, you two!
Hello guys, tks for video. Ahhh those pigs jumping in all the wood chips...lol and when the fresh wood chips came in they were loving it. So good to see Liz on your shoulder. She is a cutie. Didn't see Buggie , was she napping ? Meg always comes through with season good food mixes from left overs...great job Meg. Much love to all ya'll.....
Meg I love the way you cook, just like my mom used to cook and I cook. In the future food may become scarce so people better learn how to start Making meals Like that and stop wasting.
That is a velvet ant! Don't let it bite you. Baaaaad. My mother in law would probably give Meg a run for her money with the amount of butter she uses on everything. I love her cooking! :D
Meg, my Mom used to make a favorite of my Dads called sous or sousa. He and his parents were from Germany. The meat is anything that will make a collagen rich broth that jells solid. Mom used veal neck bones, I use turkey necks. oxtails would be excellent. Cook in water 'til the meat is falling off of the bones. Pick the meat, (check for bone bits) add what you like to the broth for flavor and slices of carrot for color. Pick a container as a mold, family size if you want to slice off blocks or individual serving size. (Mom used coffee cups) slices of cooked carrot on the bottom meat on top of that gently cover with broth, cool and refrigerate. serve cold. It will slip right out of the mold after the container is out of the 'frig a few minutes. Great in summer with a salad. Dad liked a vinaigrette with minced onions garlic etc. over the top but we kids usually liked it plain. Mentioning your broth made me think of it.
Finally, a good vlog to watch. Can't wait till FRIDAY! I LOVE the podcast, too!God bless you all and many prayers & and Megs, beautiful smile! &&& cooking. Peace out. ✌️ ng.
I appreciate your forays into the pig pen. I was helping to add on to a barn next to a working, old-school pig yard with 10 farrowing sows. The farmer had stored the sheets of tin next to the barn a year or so before. That area was in the pig pen. I spent a whole day reaching elbow deep into pig poop grabbing one end of a sheet of 12 foot tin, shaking it off and hauling it out. The old boy next to me just kept saying to himself, "It all washes off".
Thank you for sharing your pig pen experience. It "might all wash off", yet you have still contaminated yourself in pulling that tin material from the putrid, infested ground. It's not cool to advertise and tell stupid and inexperienced people, "It's OK and fine" for humans to slog through animal waste. Sickness is a real possibility.
Dasymutilla occidentalis (a.k.a. cow killer or Red Velvet Ant).Has one heck of a nasty and excruciatingly painful sting. Especially on little toes. Stay safe, healthy and blessed.
Totally agree !! Cow Killer..........horrible sting and swells up a bit. Doesn't kill you unless you're allergic to bee stings. It's actually a wingless wasp so the stings hurts like that. Just don't pick it up or let your kids play with it. The sting hurts.....I know by experience.
I grew up calling them Cow Killers and always thought they were ants. Later in life I learned they are actually a wingless female wasp! No wonder they have a painful sting! Who knew?!! lol
When the kids were little they asked why my grilled cheese tasted better than all the others. I told them it was because I cooked with love. My youngest is a skeptic and closely observed grandma and me and realized I used a lot of butter and she used just a little bit of margarine. Tried to say I lied when I said it was love, but I held firm. Butter is love.
lol Meg is a great cook and she knows how to stretch a meal with what she has............ i miss Ben coming in and say something smells delicious lol hugssssss
I think I'll pass on the Smell-O-Vision. Thanks anyway. Lol. Also, Beware the Grapple Monster! (That's what I thought as you were driving around opening and closing the grapple attachment.) Lol
Silent watcher, love all your videos, and you have very amazing kids that are so very helpful and intelligent. You all are a beautiful family I am so amazed by yo guys, and I really learn alot from you all, Thank you so much for the videos and the lessons I learn from you. May God bless you all. Thanks again from Arizona but my home place is also from the south good Ole Kentucky. God bless you all.❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

Your little one she is so sweet . I was extremely active during my pregnancy my baby wanted to constantly be on the go to sleep as she really never moved in the room because I was so active. As active as mag is I'm sure that this little one loves the constant movement in order to sleep
Jack is such a good big brother taking care of his sister love it she is so stinkin cute!!! Many blessings and y'all's dinner looked so yummy now smell a vision would be good for that lol
Meg, I approve of this recipe yummy. I made sausage gravy with at least a half stick of butter. You can't go wrong with butter!! However, my biscuits have bacon fat in place of butter. Oh, so good watching you all make food and I get to try it too😊 Ben I wait all week for Friday podcast 😊
Ben I feel your pain. 🤣 Rain and animal waste don’t make good friends. Those are the mornings when I go outside muttering to myself “so you want to be a farmer hey”. Lol. And then the sun shines and thru all the mucking out you have clean pens or stalls or coups and all is well again with the world 🤣🤣🤣
😮❤ I guess I missed when you got that beast chipper, or it's the same one getting towed. You needed that! Shoot, just answered lol. First time you offered smellavision for stink😂. That dinner was devine🎉 Meg, I saw your sweet potato slips, I have some sproated also. Do i need to harden the cut ends before putting in water to root? Anyone? Thanks😊

Julia Child knew this from her time learning French culinary skills...and was almost as famous as Meg Hollar👀✨️✅️🪄🤔🤣🙂🙃😂

To many more happy years together.
Really funny! Usually when you wish we had "smell-a-vision" it has to do with Meg's creativity in the kitchen rather than the pig pens! 😂
I love the ‘waste not .. want not’ way of life you guys live as we are such a wasteful society these days 👌 I grew up with parents and grandparents that also used everything available to make meals and they also were very delicious 👍 love your cooking Meg 😊
For sure, it forces you to be creative! I love that, most of the time those are the best meals!
Guys, I love your family vibes. Natural and not fake. Thank you for sharing it with us. Take care
“I wish you guys had smell-o-vision… because this absolutely reeks” 💀 oh lmao
How about making some wooden containers that would be stationary to put the bowls in deep enough they couldn’t get the bowls out. Put a small lip on the container so bowls couldn’t come out. Just a suggestion.
Seeing Jack with the baby....well just ❤❤❤
Meg, you absolutely amaze me! You win Mother & Wife of the year award for LIFE! 3 home cooked meals a day from scratch and 6 kids. Absolutely incredible!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Agreed 👍
If that’s what you put yourself worth into

The secret of a good marriage is do what you are told by she who must be obeyed.😂
Secret to a good marriage "butter, lottsa butter" wisdom from the Hollars! Could we get that on a teeshirt? 🎉
I’ve been clean keto for 7 years. I eat a lot of grass fed butter. I love to watch Meg cooking with butter. So cute tha you enjoy it too 🌻
You are the wood chipper king! Elizabeth is beautiful, such gorgeous big eyes. Meg is still the cooking queen.

Would love to see the twins restore the old farm house. It would be a great space for them, still close to mum and dad but they have their own space
I love ALL The Hollar Homestead videos!

At our house Musgo meant everything in the fridge Mus'go! That is my children's complaint.... My meals never happen again....
When the Noodle hit the floor, I was half expecting my dog to snap it up!
I absolutely love you guys. ❤️❤️ the little one is so adorable. You can tell she’s you daughter. She looks like you all. Love seeing the oldest boy holding the baby. You are an amazing family.
My parents chose each other because they both knew: Marriage is TEAMWORK. Two as ONE. It worked for them.
That chipper works like a snowblower. Fun!😊
As my Daddy use to say,”That boy is a gripper.” Meaning a hard worker. Much love from Appalachia Kentucky.

Happy Tuesday to the beautiful Hollar family!
Been thinking you had an extra guest kid. Totally new person with that short haircut! Thank you for the videos.
Red Velvet ant! YES, copious amounts of butter make food taste delicious and make a marriage!! The way to a mans' heart IS through his stomach!
PTO Wood chipper has got to be a game changer!
Love Meg how you cook. I was taught by my dad if you use leftovers the meal would be so yummy. Monday was the day... Dad called it fridge clean out. LOL
We in the Caribbean call it 'Sunday Monday'
Cow Killer “ant” 😬 thankful for their bright coloring & one of the reasons I always wear shoes in the garden!
It might be a good idea to rather address the problem of the water as to remedy the problem. Divert the stormwater away from the area if it is possible. Your place looks great!!
Another great day on the Hollar Family Homestead! Yum! Delicious looking dinner! Blessings on your family and your growing homestead!🌻🐛🌿💚🙏💕
The food sounds so good. Made with love

Where i live butter, cream and cheese is horrendously expensive. We use only teaspoonfuls. I drool looking at American cooking.
We called them cow ants in rural GA.
Great job you guys on taking care of the pig pens ( muck) = ( yuck on the hooves) that speaks volumes .
Dinner looks dedelicious, Megan 😊

Great video and that pasta looked amazing and delicious
Everything is better with butter. That's my motto😂
Loving the new chipper set up. Helpful.

MoButta..ty..xoxo blessings to y'all in every way ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey favorite family to welcome back 🙏 ❤ and stay of health care 😊
multi achievements from the clean up, helping pigs, reducing mud, clearing branches and knowing a better situation for the animal pens.
Thank heavens for the weight of the chipper while dumping chips uphill. Butter is the secret to EVERYTHING.
I'm a widow and I bet I use as much butter as Meg .... about a pound every 3 or 4 days!!!🤣🤣🤣
That is a red velvet ant, which is not an ant. It is actually a flightless wasp.
They're very pretty 😊
Oh how I relate with Meg’s inability to throw out a good broth. If nothing else, that broth is a great drink with eggs in the morning!
Awesome, you two!
Here in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida, we have always called them red cow killer ants and they do pack a mean sting.
You don't suppose I could get that little one of yours to tell my cucumbers to "Grow?!" 🤗❤️
Love you guys! I've been watching from the beginning and to see how your love was saved and has grown into a beautiful life! Blessing on your family!
Me to Meg😊 i use much butter too.
With diesels what you have to be careful of is the particulates they throw out if you do not have the right sort of muffler.
Cow killer ant which is actually a wingless wasp. Their bite hurts. And you can't hardly kill them by stepping on them.
I, for one, am glad for no smellovision 🤣
Thanks for bringing us along !!!!! 😊🙏👍❤️
We make that too, we call it headcheese. It's so good!
Finally, a good vlog to watch. Can't wait till FRIDAY! I LOVE the podcast, too!God bless you all and many prayers & and Megs, beautiful smile! &&& cooking. Peace out. ✌️
ng.
love you two....great salt of the earth people..
❤
Always enjoy spending time with your family! Thanks for sharing your lives!
Butter sound as good as any. thank you
Dasymutilla occidentalis (a.k.a. cow killer or Red Velvet Ant).Has one heck of a nasty and excruciatingly painful sting.
Wicked, yet fascinating little buggars!
She is adorable
I thought it was a velvet ant! Surprised Ben played with them, but then again....boys 😂
Cow ant
I grew up calling them Cow Killers and always thought they were ants. Later in life I learned they are actually a wingless female wasp! No wonder they have a painful sting! Who knew?!! lol
I know you used to make pens through the woods for them with the electric netting.
I call my dinners where I just throw random stuff together a pantry dinner.
Ox tail soup and pieces of meat you take from there, soooo good!
Good evening beautiful people! Blessings, love and hugs!
lol Meg is a great cook and she knows how to stretch a meal with what she has............ i miss Ben coming in and say something smells delicious lol hugssssss
Great music 😊 , any chance on more Meg cooking in the videos ? Love those she’s great
I think I'll pass on the Smell-O-Vision. Thanks anyway. Lol. Also, Beware the Grapple Monster! (That's what I thought as you were driving around opening and closing the grapple attachment.) Lol
Your meals always look so delicious.
Red velvet ant, ouch Ben lol We had then but our turkeys ate them. Our family is a cooking family. Spread the love I say

Hi Hollars! I just love spending time with your family, dinner looked so good!😋
😁😁😁 so happy to see another video from y'all!
We always called them red velvet ants. We had those and the great big black grasshoppers that we called tobacco spitters.
We use a lot of butter. I also use lard for baking bread, unless it is cinnamon rolls or other sweet dough products, then I use butter.

Ben I feel your pain. 🤣 Rain and animal waste don’t make good friends. Those are the mornings when I go outside muttering to myself “so you want to be a farmer hey”. Lol. And then the sun shines and thru all the mucking out you have clean pens or stalls or coups and all is well again with the world 🤣🤣🤣
Ya'll are amazing. Always happy, God is in your house. It shows. God's blessings to all of you. Deborah.
Anyone? Thanks😊
That is commonly called a velvet ant, but it's not an ant. It's a wingless ground wasp. Supposed to have a wicked sting if you mess with them.
