I love your reviews because you give the most realistic expectation towards these IEM reviews. You understand that sound is subjective which is why I feel more informed watching your videos as opposed to analyzing graphs. Yes I agree that the name Obsidian should be used in lieu of the OH10. It’s kind of like calling someone human 7251A instead of Dan lol

This one is still my favorite. I feel like the bass is so well integrated with the mids and the highs. Excellent for electronic music, and I’m not talking EDM, I’m talking techno, house, Richie Hawtin, Luke Slater, UR, Jazzanova, Atjazz, Chateau Flight, I:cube.

So let first start by saying thank you for recommending these sound masterpieces from Heaven. I ordered these at the end of 2021 and received them today 1/21/22, yes it took a month! I'm going to start by saying that I have a few different IEM'S and none of them give me the Bass, Soundstage, and presence that come across so incredibly dynamic as these. They are tiny pieces of musical Bliss, I can't stop listening to the music in my Library and thinking Wow this is what it's supposed to sound like. Thanks Dan for the awesome Sound Demos, it definitely helped me make a decision to purchase these Obsidian dynamos! Cheers to You! I would also like to say that with all the other headphones I have, I had to use Viper4android to get this type of Sound!!! Thanks again bro. Subbed
Now I need a decent pair of over ears, I'm sure your sound demos will Help me. 🥰

@Rodney Moody . I'm on the opposite of your situation, I just ordered the OH10 to pair them with my over ears. If I have to give you a recomendation, look at the Fidelio H2/HR. Those are the end game for me. Warm balanced over hear. Really fun to listen to music with them, enough detail, amazing bass. There are some audio samples on Z-reviews channel I guess. You should try to check it out

Great review…there’s something about the Obsidians’ mass that adds to the isolation and sensuality of the bass and it translates over the spectrum.
Still the top dog in my IEM’s stable.

Just got this from drop. I don't hear any shrill on the highs nor thin vocal. This OH10 sounds very similar to T3+ with more bass rumble and details, but the difference is not large. I am liking what I am hearing so far as I love my T3+.

    • @neogenesus

@@crankiisago well the T3+ is smoother in the treble while the OH10 is a bit edgier on the treble. It can get fatiguing after awhile. The weight of the IEM itself can be a factor in making your ears fatigue. The OH10 overall sound is like you boost the subbass and treble on the T3+.

      1) The Timeless was a bad fit for me, but even when I 'ensured' the fit to ensure a good seal, I disliked the tonality. There was bass but it lacked realism, the mids were detailed but had no soul, the high end was OK but grainy.
      2) The Kato was better, beautifully built and a decent sound - but came over as thinner and less emotionally involving than the OH10 Obsidian.
      3) The OH10 Obsidian was a surprise. I was expecting bass-heavy, warm and maybe 'cloying' from some reviewers descriptions. But no. They have a bottom end that can gum-up, but mostly they are simply lovely. What's your word? - euphonious, I think. They have plenty of detail and resolution but, unlike the other two here, they don't shove it in your face.
I love these IEMs. They fit well (heavy but I don't feel them) and sonically they remind me of my Sennheisser HD600s - a staggering achievement I think for a $200 in-ear device.
I'm still re-listening to all my favorite jazz and acoustic tracks - that's a what a music reproduction device should achieve. It may not be rapture, but it's close enough.
Btw, I'm playing them through a little FIIO BTR5 and it's clean, bright and powerful. The OH10s sound even nicer through my Schiit Asgard 3, so they really scale. I'm still grinning!!

I bought these and Variations at the same time - I always go for the Obsidian between the two - UNLESS I Want a more tame sound - Variations is like being punched with a thick boxing glove - Obsidian is like being punched with no glove at all - The shrill treble with Obsidian can be a little too much, which is when i reach for the Variations - the Obsidian gets a pleasing bit of tamed down with the i-Planet foam tips

Great video. I now tested the t3+ and the ikko oh10 obsidian and I got to say that I kinda would rank them the same. The Ikko has more base impact but the t3+ is a bit more balanced but v shaped too. to be honest the oh10 lacks a little bit to much body for me. I’m pretty sure that It’s a string bass on that svensson trio. Not a cello. That said, I just got through 3 way comparison with Timeless and Kato. And you are right these won hands down for me. The cable and the folder carrying case are pretty poor. But the IEM itself is very nicely built. These have a warm sound but are balanced out with a fair amount of detail and top-end. The mids seem a little recessed on some material. I used them on a FIIO BTR5 and they are open and well powered. Also, they responded well to EQ. I found that lifting the mid-range and (less-so) the high frequency was good on most material. I agree with Dan, on jazz these are terrific. Try "Art Pepper meets the Jazz Messengers".

@@dansaudioreviews I just tried it today in a headphone store. the OH10 is way better for my personal taste. I compare my own Dunu SA6 (which I know you like it too), to the OH10, to the OH1S, to the See Yume, to the BGVP DM8, and even to the QDC Anole(Which worth around 3000USD). The Dunu SA6 still my favorite out of all the earphones I've tried so far, and the OH10 is a pretty close second. The snare, and the brightness of the kick drum, is disappeared with the See Yume, same with the BGVP DM8. I don't consider that flat or even sounding, everything just sound very "covered up". And the OH1S is too bright and lack the low punch of the OH10. And for the 3000$ QDC Anole, man, that thing sounds grand and wide and open, but I really don't like the top end on the Anole. Some may say that's "detail", but for me it's very fatiguing. If I'm check a mix of a song with my mixing engineer with the Anole, I would ask him to roll off the top end of the Hi-Hat and the cymbals. But with the SA6, everything sounds more "accurate". Like if I take off the SA6 and listen back with my studio monitor, they sound much more similar.
I think the Dunu SA6 deserve much more popularities, I use it on everything now, tracking, live performance, checking my mix, it handles everything so well, that it makes my old UE custom sound like junk. I think I'm too off topic here LOL!! Sorry!! OH10 and See Yume, get the OH10!! And QDC Anole and Dunu SA6? Even though the graph may show other areas being lifted (though I haven’t looked yet, just going by your description here), the bass is so audibly strong that I can’t describe them another way but having string bass. Or, going up in price, the DUNU SA6. That’s perhaps my most favorite balanced or neutral sounding earphone, while still being engaging and enjoyable.

I think I would actually recommend the Obsidian just fine for electronic. They have a good thump to them and play the textures of the synthetic sounds quite well.
Depending on the electronic music you have though, the forwardness of the Obsidian (OH10) could be too bombastic for you. But generally I think they play most electronic with a lot of excitement without much fatigue. But again, it depends on your library.
It’s also so great for so many other genres anyway that you would enjoy it regardless.

If I had to guess, and I really don't want to steer you wrong for your tastes here, but I would speculate that the Obsidian is better for most people who prefer electronic music - the reason being that the Obsidian delivers impact that electronic tracks often try to engage the listener with. The SA6 isn't really trying to be so impactful. Then again, the SA6 is so pleasing and easy to listen to, that it's a terrific choice anyway too.

@@dansaudioreviews thank you for the input! Just for context this is a typical song; th-cam.com/video/0BH4bRRyihI/w-d-xo.html in my library, a lot in that "essence"..I am a DJ so I need IEMs comfortable there. I will think about these two options. 🙂 Many thanks you rock man keep doing these quality videos.

@@paulallen9518 Pretty nicely mastered track! Love how crisp everything is. That dynamic between the high hat sound and the thumps is great. I would say that the Obsidian will sound very very fun here, while the SA6 would be easier on the ears for long listening sessions.
In terms of what that means if you were to DJ with these IEM's in your ears while performing... not sure. I'd probably guess to seek a pair that matches the speaker system as best as possible. But, I'm not a DJ, nor do I know your exact objectives and situation with owning these IEM's with respect to your work. If I had to guess, since speakers at concerts and so on like to ensure the bass is dialed up, I would think that the Obsidian might be a closer match to what your audience may get. But idk 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh absolutely. I love the ThieAudio Clairvoyanace or the DUNU SA6 for well under $1000. They are extremely smooth and listenable for classical. I remember taking drives with the Clairvoyance in my ears, classical playing, and just loving every minute of the pleasing drive.

Have tried it 2 times, and literally thinking about getting it for the 3rd time now😂

I loved everything about the Ikko, but I feel like I need an upgrade, something for rock and modern mixes, indie pop.

    • @dansaudioreviews
      @dansaudioreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you tried it twice already, I would probably suggest trying something new. I’ve felt mixed about things too, like the UP. Even though I could appreciate its merits, I couldn’t bring myself to put them on as my daily driver when I wasn’t personally getting what I wanted out of them with the male vocals.
If you tried the Obsidian twice already, I imagine you’re feeling unsure about how they feel for you in actual daily use.
The Tea is a pretty big departure in tuning, being a brighter set. I think that is a great idea if you’re looking to try something new. It’ll give you something far removed from the Obsidian’s tastes to try.
If you’re going for something big and full sounding though, like the Obsidian, then I would easily and strongly recommend the Timeless. Exceptional detail and heft.

@@XhMOod12345 very personal preference there. I can see both satisfying people with those genres but for different reasons.

I would still prefer the Timeless. Though these play some music more enjoyable, the Timeless plays more music to my taste. Electronic, busier metal/rock, maybe vocalists too, for example, are more enjoyable to me with the Timeless. More of my library goes that way.

    • @dansaudioreviews
      @dansaudioreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Goo question. I haven’t actually tried either on films yet.
Though I might speculate the Timeless. The Tea doesn’t have a whole lot of bass, and in films bass can be fairly important to feel immersed. I can’t say for sure, unfortunately. I don’t have the tea with me anymore.
Plus the Timeless has greater detail retrieval and technicals, it seems to me.
But hey, I could be wrong. The Tea could be great and I wouldn’t be able to confirm.
