@@samuelbrozek5618 I would rather gaff it in a **non fatal ** , least harming location (lower lip) so to bring it on deck and remove the hooks rather than try to hand line a 30lb fish or try to net a big fish and possibly lose it with a big metal jig in it's mouth and another leader hanging out.
I'll echo what others have said it's good the practices you demonstrate for keeping fish and releasing depth fish. It's always fun to watch you for fish different species, with other tactics, while sharing great info.

I notice in a lot of your videos you keep a pair of pliers attached to you on your belt. What pliers do you use in saltwater and have had good luck with?
Not hatting but I would try and stay away from high sticking so much with spj, use the the reel as a winch and not the rod for leverage. But with your problems with reel seat that makes it harder lol. I have had to file down the reel feet on all my spj setups to get them to fit all the way in.
I'll be visiting Alabama this summer, I'm assuming the best license option for an outmof state fisher would be the 7 day trip license? Is that all inclusive?
I've had the same issue w my Siegler SGN on my OTI slow pitch rod. Seems like the reel seat isn't quite flat and maybe a little shorter than most. Other than that I love the reel

An ice fishin reel trick is to zip tie the reel to the rod. Try that if you are having problems with the reel slots/keepers.

It's gotta be that reel foot. It's thicker than others. Even the Slow Pitch thin reel foot still slipped off
