That's because of the usage of proper techniques. I think Corpsegrinder's growls nowadays are even more powerful than the ones he did when he was younger, that was probably because he has become more experienced and has mastered the techniques better than his young self. For another example, Corey Taylor from Slipknot. He didn't scream with proper techniques such as false cords or vocal fry during the self titled and Iowa era, so he had to switch to normal talking voice pretty often in a concert. But now Corey does use relatively safe techniques, his nowadays live screams are probably not as brutal as his Iowa ones, but his performance has become more stable.
So let me continue to beat this dead horse... the youngest dude in this band is George at 48, so almost everyone in this band is in their 50s. Listen to this performance and tell me how there are people that use old age as an excuse for how inconsistent Lars and Kirk have gotten over the years?

I still think Erik Rutan’s the perfect replacement for Pat O’Brien while he recovers and if they decide to kick him out of the band he should be his replacement.
I really hope Pat can get his life back together and return to this incredible band. Eric has done a great job, but CC needs Pat to return at some point.
