- In this video, we'll be exploring the topic of whether or not it is advisable for you to pursue a Juniper certification. Juniper certifications can be a valuable asset in the IT industry, providing you with specialized knowledge and skills that can enhance your career opportunities.
I've been working with Juniper in the 'real world' for three years. I was all Cisco and Palo Alto/Forti before that.
I needed a break from AWS certficiations/material recently so took my JNCIA and passed, then crammed in study to get the JNCIS-ENT (didn't want to do all the MPLS is SP).
I'd say it's 100% worth it and even I learned some interesting stuff from the JNCIS course, and I use BGP, IS-IS etc daily. DO IT!
I didn't know about that 75% discount though 😱 Lucky the business reimbursed me for my costs.
Loving this video! I’m also studying for my JNCIE but the ENT track. May the force be with us both 😎
Hallo The Network Berg , I am from Kenya. I recently just finished watching your 40-video MTCNA tutorial and I am so grateful. I was considering doing the MTCNA certification, but the only contact I had that could possibly lead to the exam said I have to part with 650 USD and that the training was mandatory. What other alternatives could I explore because I really feel that's quite expensive... and I know it's not mandatory to undergo training if you feel well grounded with the principles.
Can you please enable the option on TH-cam that can disable the subtitles?
Awesome video. Thinking about learning juniper. I’m currently setting up my first site using bgp on mikrotik routers and I’m curious if you would consider giving us fee schedule for your time to help us set it up.
Great video.
What were you using to practice your juniper CLI?
Hi :)
Nice video! Thank you!
What about the access of practice resources (labs, simulator if any)? Prices? Any on-prem hardware needed?
Well you could use EVE-NG Community edition or GNS3 both of which are totally free and import a vJunos image. Juniper lets you download the image for free without having to register and you can play with most of the features. I believe similar to MikroTik's CHR the speed is limited to 1Mb until you license the device (Which is fine for learning with)
@@TheNetworkBerg Thank you very much for adding this :)
Great video!!
does this apply for south africa too? where would one apply the discount voucher? got 75% discount thanks bru!
thanks to you i learnt juniper got bought by HPE ... did not hear about that yet.
Yeah it's a weird world where even these massive vendors go through change of ownership, not to mention a few months before this they also had a lot of layoffs, similar to Cisco
@@TheNetworkBerg sad tbh
especially in case of a good company getting bought by a bigger but sh*tty company and quality of a known to be good brand goes down eventually (i am looking to vmware for example....)
Nice info 👌
Oh, wow, nice job
How many hours did you spend on learning junos? (If you already know cisco cli and have experience with this)
Probably around 20 hours total going over the training material since a lot of it is already second nature. So if you are comfortable with networking engineering you could probably do it in a week or so.
@@TheNetworkBerg cool, thx for info, already have background on cisco 10+ years and juniper srx3600 firewall , but no hands on experience with juniper switches and routers
How do we practice . Is there any lab?? Or any simulator like Cisco packet tracer to practice.
I personally use EVE-NG, you can download the free (community) edition from their website eve-ng.net and load a Juniper image onto it to play around with.
@@TheNetworkBerg thanks. Noted in another comment about vjunos image. Will give it a try.
Nice question
@@TheNetworkBerg where i can get the juniper images?
also any chance we can use eve-ng for junos?
Is juniper better than mikrotik??? or does it just allow you to do more??
In terms of features in the ISP space, yes. Juniper supports bigger degree of protocols and technologies that MikroTik just doesn't currently. Especially stuff like EVPN and Segment Routing. Juniper also has higher levels of support, the down side is their licensing models and being a lot more corporate (though some people like that)
@@TheNetworkBerg ok so for guys moving from isp to corporate networks this is a good move...
