It's a good thing that you are using the west systems epoxy resin!.. what most people don't realize is that what oem manufacturers use for "fiberglass" parts is actually SMC (sheet moulded compound).. the problem is that normal polyester fiberglass resin doesn't bond to it....eventually it will come loose... your friend gave you good advice 👌.

Wow - I wish I would have kept my '71 K/5 Blazer top, I'm using a soft top but the hard top is better in temperature extremes, fast highway driving, and better at keeping water out.
That original texture was probably Zolatone... they used it on boats as far back as the 50’s & the mini-truck crowd in the 90’s used that shit for everything... good product, I think we can still get it...

It is a new build. I had worked on the top a couple of years ago and then moved to a new house, etc, etc. I am back working on it now, I just finished replacing both rocker panels and will be posting that video soon. I'm getting ready to separate the body from the frame. I plan to do a full restoration on it, maybe upgrade to an LS, not sure about that yet. I used a single stage paint from TCP Global from their hot rod flatz line. I would not recommend painting with a rattle can unless you go with the rustoleum turbo can. But, I think that is gloss. From my memories of the early 70's, these tops were not glossy, but sort of flat/semi-gloss.

I just cut the rubber gasket. I plan to have glass cut locally to replace them.
