I have had a 2010 13" now for, well, 3 years and it had to handle A LOT of abuse. And I have to say I am very happy with it: I fell down some stairs with it in 2011 and broke my elbow, but it is fine, apart from a little dent. I have to say, the Aluminium makes it super tuff. And I will definitely buy a Retina one this year.
I can't believe that woman couldn't open an email or a presentation or even TYPE a NOTE on the LG Optimus G Pro. That's a bit excessive ignorance I think. If she spent 3 minutes browsing the apps and LEARNING about it she would have figured it out. I'm not saying you gotta love Android, but you can certainly figure these basic things out just by spending 3 to 10 minutes with ANY Android device.
You don't get what torture tests are about. They're about showing you what will happen to the product on a regular use.I don't think I'd be dropping a pile of bricks on my macbook.
Just cause the thing barely turned on doesn't mean its operational. The keyboard is probably destroyed, battery pack cracked and oozing, hard drives split and capacitors and motherboard circuitry crossed and splintered. Test is a fail. Hook a monitor up to it at least.
considering, you dropped a 1400 pound boulder on it, i would be surprised if it even booted. no screen can survive this damage unless its the Panasonic military style laptops (and those things are shaped more like suitcases)
These torture test are dumb... + I think Cnet should give one new device to a school or organization that need these devices for every tortured device... Feels to extravagant to me... People need this stuff...
I think the usual torture test is alright BUT the fact that we have to realise no body would keep a MacBook on a sand like neither they would put 1400kg weight on top of it.... ????
"I couldn't find the camera forever"... Oh maaan.... How stupid can someone be? If she is not even able to do something that easy, she should not be part of that test.
You sicken me, how can you take a £2000 British pound laptop, and do that to it? These laptops would make my dream a reality, something I dream of having living in a working class position, and seeing you do this makes me feel physically sick

This video helped me persuade my mum to buy the macbook pro 15" retina laptop!!
Thank you CNETTV!!!
This show makes my heart drop.........
The scratch finish is actually quite nice. They should start offering this as an option.
this episode is so good >>> I love it
please i want your torture tests on the HTC one
I cant belive I watched this whole thing
what makes apple better is its quality. Everything needs to be approved by apple, that means better quality control.

i would like to see the same road test for the blackberry z10. could you guys make one?
true true good point. Yes it is. I should do that. But if we as youtubers ignore too many ads then google will just start charging.

I would have stopped after the bricks, but I guess if you pay almost two grand for a computer, it should be able to handle all that.
How to find the camera app: Find the icon that looks like a real camera.
The Retina display is so expensive to replace, I've paid around $800 to change mine. It was a bad day for me. The screen is so sensitive.
Anything that doesn't have the Magic of Apple is obviously much too complex to understand.
Do it with the Zenbook too
My retina display MBP cried watching this.
Where do we enter the sweepstakes???
I cried when I saw the boulder
That MacBook was crying inside...
I so want the lg optimus g pro but its not out in Australia :(
@MichaelMcGrath33 agree to an extent. What about hardware customization
Made me fall in love with my rMBP all over again
HEY! at 5:37 the pic of the phone is WRONG!!!!
Yayyyyy thanks cnet for seeing my post!
Alex really was hoping to get that Optimus G Pro given to him for free! You could really tell! ;P
i think the battery was damaged by the water, and the screen was from the boulder
considering, you dropped a 1400 pound boulder on it, i would be surprised if it even booted. no screen can survive this damage unless its the Panasonic military style laptops (and those things are shaped more like suitcases)
Steve Jobs would pass out after watching this.
XD LOL
These torture test are dumb... + I think Cnet should give one new device to a school or organization that need these devices for every tortured device... Feels to extravagant to me... People need this stuff...
Where is the camera, Where is the notes app, Where is the mail?
and how much would it cost to replace the display?
after watch this show. it convince me that MBP is my next laptop. it's great...
Take Macbook to apple store "i dropped my macbook" them - "emm..."
LOL! That would actually make my day!
That boulder man! Ouch!
That woman using the Optimus g pro doesn't know how to appreciate the g pro.
Been saving money all this time for a 15 inch MacBook Pro non retina and they destroy one each week. Damnit
is that the 13' or the 15" rMBP...???
I cant bear looking at the torture test :(
I think the usual torture test is alright BUT the fact that we have to realise no body would keep a MacBook on a sand like neither they would put 1400kg weight on top of it.... ????
When will Season 4 be starting?
I don't know about this macbook but on mine. If i keep my hands on it starts popping
"I couldn't find the camera forever"...
Oh maaan....
How stupid can someone be?
If she is not even able to do something that easy, she should not be part of that test.
Omg I hate that I have to wait till season 4
tortures tests are more unrealistic nowadays, i must say its not like everybody uses their macbook in that environment
I watch this on the same MacBook.Dammm! i hope it doesn't remember this.
It was painful to watch the MacBook be beaten!!! I WANT ONE SO BADLY!!! :'(
Well, you should buy one.
Please, 1080p!
That macbook is a beast I like that
I think the test was little bit unrealistic than other torture test.
hey molly is the giveways internationally
Step away from the Mac Book Pro
Hey that is not the photo of LG optimus G pro, thats just LG optimus G!! Wts goin' on
apple took her brain just like apple itself "beauty without brain".
HELP ME I THINK ITACHI GOT ME WITH HIS TSUKUYOMI DX
Just wait until it stars oxidating
It's like watching The Passion of the Christ.
You guys owe me a 15 MacBook Pro just for doing this. Thanks :)
anodized aluminum does not oxidate.
That test really made me cringe, especially the open drop test.
don't talk about the hinge if you didn't drop it on the hinge...
they have it in rice because rice sucks up moisture easy and it's cheap,
i like this show did you crack ipadmini
Survived!?!?! Really?!?!? CNETTV Brought to you by APPLE!
This segment brought to you by Apple.
Apple ~ CNET Loves Us ™
The chick obviously is not into tech so I can see how her opinion represents a larger population of smartphone users.
can you torture test blackberry z10
Wow thats unbelievable
The poor poor poor MacBook Pro ;(
they have it
"I just wanna wash the dirt of" lo oh molly
The humanities!
Nice torture test, but apple die-hards will be like FUCK!!!
I personally thought she was just being ditzy and stubborn.
THAT was a pass!!!!!
You sicken me, how can you take a £2000 British pound laptop, and do that to it? These laptops would make my dream a reality, something I dream of having living in a working class position, and seeing you do this makes me feel physically sick
It was awesome, though
