Sonic and Tails are probably thiccer to make them more huggable and comforting for kids. It’s less comfortable to try to hug spindly characters with long, thin limbs. Sonic, while not as true to his design, is so charming in how unique he looks. I’d say giving Tails the shirt was a great choice; Tails wearing an oversized tee looks really cute!
Actually, the Tails plush WAS almost up to scale. He had the feet out more than Sonic, but if they had been right up next to Sonic, it would have shown the scale. At that point, Tails' scale is only a small bit off, which may be unnoticeable.
I have many build-a-bear plushes, and because of that, I know for a fact that the paw print on Sonic's hand is where the sound chip would go, not just showing that it's a build-a-bear.
Speaking of which, I made a Pikachu b-a-b and I have a custom sound chip of Pikachu's voice by me. I can make a really good impression is what my friends say.

Obviously I'm super late to this, but when I ordered my Build-A-Bear Sonic I went ahead and got the soundbox anyway. They put it into the plush despite the website saying that they wouldn't; they put it into his foot for some reason.
I walked into build a bear one day to check out some plushes, then I saw the sonic plush on display and it was the only one and the employees allowed me to have him.
It's called Pixel Sonic. It's the super ultra rare figure in the line though so good luck getting it unless you want to pay $50+ or get super lucky (to be fair I got the ultra rare Mega Man helmet-less figure in the Mega Man line though so it's possible). I think it's around 1 Pixel Sonic in every two boxes of them or something crazy like that.
I wonder if they'll bring these back for the movie? I hope so!!! I know they've brought back Toothless time and time again for the releases of HTTYD movies.
Do you mean the Kidrobot figures? Search up Sonic Kidrobot figures, there are a lot of reviews and info on them online. Unfortunately they're blind boxed so you don't know what figure you'll get when you buy it, and they're $9.99 too. Not that great but the figures look nice.
If you get it at the store you may not get a ring or artwork but you can get a sonic shirt and get to choose one without problems and you can take off stuff
