- Ready to experience one of the most beautiful and remote drives in the world?
This week we overland one of the most challenging routes we have conquered on our entire trip since leaving Canada in Sept 2017! This pass is known as the Lagunas route and it will bring us high up in elevation (5000 m) as we cross 400km of barren landscape through the Andes mountains from Bolivia into Chile! We have been looking forward to this drive for months and we have driven 50,000 miles to get here! We have been told we CAN'T do this without a 4 wheel drive and it is not advised to do this in a personal vehicle... let's see how it goes!
We are Max & Lee + Occy. We are about living small with the world as our backyard. We love adventure and we want to bring you along with us! Join us us as we work, travel and live in our self converted tiny home. We started van life in Canada and we are on the way down to Argentina!

The frozen flamingos was amazingly filmed - I loved that so much. I've been missing your videos the last few weeks so I have to go back and catch up but just wanted to say that you three are so inspirational to me. I have been having the worst year with my health - been on medical leave because I broke my back in Feb and was literally in my bed for almost two months and videos on you tube were my saviors for my mental health. I am cleared to go back to work from my back surgeon but last week was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I now have a new health battle to face and watching videos like yours makes me think about my dreams and plans for my life and shows me that it is possible if I just do it and stop thinking 'eventually' or 'tomorrow' - now is tomorrow and I should not be wasting any time. Thank you.

Lee, I didn't know you but you seemed to be a beautiful young person inside and out. You were going through something really bad. So bad that you couldn't hang in there. The pain was obviously too hard to bear. We will miss you. My heart goes out to your family and friends. Eamon & Bec, thinking of you at this time.

Flamingo footage definitely amazing. You see birds stand on frozen ground, ice, snow, water in sub freezing temps all the time. The fact they let themselves be trapped is what’s really surprising.

epic route guys! the roof of the Americas is filled with pink flamingos and utterly otherworldly landscapes. I did this route 12 yrs ago and was not disappointed. Must be cold at this time of year!! Suerte con todo!

Magnificent footage of the Laguna Route. Precisely thirty years ago I arrived in San Pedro de Atacama in my trusty 2WD 1969 VW campervan but I took the coast road from Peru into Chile. I remember getting altitude sickness on that day going from the coast up to San Pedro followed by a sandstorm and getting stuck in the sand, not much fun to deal with, with an altitude headache! Also tried to drive to the hot springs but my van couldn't take the altitude because the timing in the engine was set at the coast. But as you know it's all adventure no matter which way you go. Reliving my epic journey through your eyes. Amazing difference in technology between then and now, in terms of research, drones and gopros etc. Chile is one of the most beautiful countries in the world because of its diversity of nature due to its 3000 mile length along the South American coast. You will love it. Cheers from the Philippines, also an adventurer's paradise.

So sad about Lee. Such vibrant pretty woman always making others laugh. I could see a few times where she seemed not in the moment but she would get back up again. Mental illness is a terrible thing. There is a lot of it in my family. Bipolar and manic depressive with paranoia & Psychosis. Usually other's see the sign's before the person realizes how serious it is. I lost a brother to it. He was manic and would see things that only he could see and he would get really hyper and nervous and he would spiral and have to go into treatment but he never kept it up. Lee was always smiling and happy with everyone and your trips are fantastic. I only came across your video's and read about Lee today and I have been watching your travel video's all day. Your mom really enjoyed herself and so good to be together. Lee did leave you with some wonderful memories to look back on and you should. She packed a lot of living in her short life. I'm happy you never took the videos down and we could come along with you. Thank you I hope you are doing well.
