  • KOTOR, MONTENEGRO (UNESCO HERITAGE SITE) - Must see city
A UNESCO World Heritage site, the old city was built between the 12th and 14th centuries and is filled with medieval architecture and historic monuments. Located on a beautiful bay on the coast of Montenegro, Kotor is a city steeped in tradition and history, with remarkable scenic views.
We eight of us came to Montenegro mostly because of this beautiful bay. We were fortunate enough to stay in Kotor for few days instead of only coming for a day trip, and we had a rental huge Van which meant we could drive most of the roads around it. The Bay and its surroundings are beautiful, with water and steep mountains and many quaint cities. The roads are often narrow and curvy, but the scenery makes them well worth it. We found multiple places from which to get scenic views, including roadside pullouts, the views from the car itself, and chances to get high above it (especially the serpentine road above Kotor). Kotor and its bay were definitely a highlight of our trip!. This stunning coastal city is full of things to see and do, and there are gorgeous views from every direction.
The Bay of Kotor also known as the Boka, is about 28 kilometers (17 mi) long with a shoreline extending 107.3 kilometres (66.7 mi)
