Ugh, this is SO GOOD. I have to come back to it every once in a while; I think it beats the studio version, honestly. He makes 5/4 sound menacing, celebratory and heartbreaking all at once. When he stands on the table, I get chills. Incredible.
I completely agree! The part where he stands off to the left is my favorite. I hope he records another studio version just like this live performance :)
I'll never get tired of this album, been a huge fan of it since I first heard it when I was around 16. I've been digging through the classical music world lately, when I heard a piece and realized that the beautiful flourish at the end of Many Lives is straight out of Bach's Violin Sonata No. 1 in G minor! So satisfying to find a little easter egg that lead me back to Owen Pallett.
Beautifully done. I understand he was probably preserving his voice for later songs or concerts, but man I wish he put as much into his scream as he does in the album version.
mrladysweetlady, thank you so much for uploading these videos of the performance. i've been listening to them for a long time and they never wear thin.
leonardo barriga hey! it used to be on Spotify but he took it off because he released this song (and everything on it) under his old name Final Fantasy; he said on Twitter a little while ago that he’s remastering the albums released under that name (one of which includes this song) and it’ll be back on Spotify then!!!!

Studio version has nothing on this. I’ve got it on my Spotify playlist and every damn time I find myself back here listening to this instead
That violin... THAT SINGLE VIOLIN... does so well its work. It's amazing how genius is Owen Pallett
