I personally think it is great that they made this video. It reminds me of back in grade school when they went through the process of a lockdown situation. It's crazy how when we get older and move on the bigger institutions, we end up forgetting what we learned back in the day. I remember one day (at U of C) before one of my midterms, the fire alarm went off and you'd be surprised at the number of students who didn't know how to react. Awesome job with the video!

everyone talking like they know exactly what they would do in this situation. You have very limited options if this were to ever occur. First and most obvious, run. second hide. But there are far too many variables + an overload of adrenaline to ever prepare for a situation like this. Just hope you are not in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Pretty well made - I got goosebumps.
Another tactic I saw for the "Fight" decision is to put a tall desk about a foot in front of the door, standing tall following the shape of the doorway, to confuse the shooter for a split second. So when he steps in there is just enough space for students to attack from the side while he has that spilt second "wtf table" moment.

    What I said on fb:
    "Choose action over fear."
Wow, I really didn't expect this video to effect me so strongly. I'm literally laughing (because of how scary it was) and tearing up because of my emotional response. That said, I think it is an important safety video. It contains very valuable information that I didn't have. In the unlikely event I'm ever in a situation with an active shooter I know I will now be better prepared as I am armed with the knowledge from the video.
It brought up the comment, I wonder why pulling a fire alarm immediately isn't suggested?
Would pulling the fire alarm help in an active shooter situation? Or would it make the situation worse?
I'm also wondering if watching this video is going to be a part of orientation?

Step1. Run: run like hell. Go to a safe area.
Step2. Hide: no place to run? Hide in a room, lock the doors, barricade the doors and be out of the line of shooting.
Step3. Fight: fight like a fucking man. It's risky alone but best with a group. Use a chair, book, pencil, anything.

Nice video, but I dont think you can ever prepare for something like this. If a shooter came in prepared like the orlando shooting, aside from running if you could or hiding and playing dead there was very little you could do. WIth the adrenaline and fear running through everyone I don't think anyone could play the hero as badly as they would love to. We are very fortunate to live in a safe country.

At school, we were in the middle of a physics exam. Suddenly, the fire alarm went off and the speakers were saying that this was a real fire. A few seconds after, we were able to smell the smoke and heard students yelling “FIRE! FIRE!” Then, we could see the smoke. Ironically, the hour before, we were watching a vid of what to do when there is a fire. The exit was far so me and my friend yelled, “EVERYONE DUCK AND ROLL TO THE EXIT! DONT GET UP!” Our teacher then said the same thing and we all got down and started rolling. Apparently, we were the last class to get out. The rest of the building had already been out before us. Later that month, we found out it was an arson attack.

A Marcel guy is their supervisor, he says he will investigate a formal complaint against his staff, well even the city police senior staff admit police investigating themselves is not impartial, it’s an obvious conflict of interest...Many staff and volunteers know us at the university farm , our Bengal Cat Rogue and his owner have helped volunteer work at two gardens .. , the PUF, and GGG. we’ve even had 2 female Peace officers visit our cat and take photos..both these Peace officers were very nice. WE have to ask ourselves why is it that the government prefers us to be unarmed and helpless vs armed and safe? The most effective way to protect your life when facing an armed threat be it a knife, firearm or other means is with a firearm. That's why Police are armed with them and it is also the precise reason why law abiding Canadians should be allowed to carry firearms for self preservation and the protection of others. Write your members of parliament and let good law abiding Canadians stand up for the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof!

Not only that those who had concealed carry licenses are less likely then the general public of all offenses.
