I'm right where you're at - 8-4 would be content, 9-3 would be happy. 8-4 to me, as an Aggie, says that we won all the games we were supposed to win, and lost all the games we were expected to lose. Or, potentially we lose a random road game, and pick up a win against LSU or something. 9-3 means we did everything we were supposed to do, and we grabbed a big win elsewhere.
If we come out week one against ND, and our O-line holds, and we win that game? I think we have a shot at 10-2. We were inches away from beating Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee last year, and nearly went 10-2 instead of 7-5. Elko is much better with the little details - time management, most notably - than Jimbo ever was. ND is a perfect litmus test for us, because if we win that game, that could kickstart our season and turn Kyle Field into the monster that it used to be for us.
I want a season that doesn’t feel like a waste of talent. Not only a winning record, but our offensive talent shining. I want a receiver who has over 1,000 yards. I want Conner Weigman to have a heisman level season. I want to produce draft picks, which is something that never happened under Jimbo.
It drove me nuts that Jimbo was called a QB whisperer. How?
@@DH-rs6cqNo one called him that except for Texas A&M. There is a reason FSU laughed at us for hiring him. They knew Winston had nothing to do with Jimbo. He also was never the same after his tragedy. He won a championship but he also ran his program into the ground. Shouldn’t be surprising he was going to do the same to A&M
@@FlyingT20 I was done with him after season 1. Saw enough. No discipline. Mond had some heart and that LSU game was fire but overall he was always lost. Looked like a scared deer 90% of the game.
@@DH-rs6cq Agreed. I saw enough before he came. I grew up an FSU fan. We all knew he was a fraud. At least later on. Early on he did ok but that guy was not the same for many years
This what me personally think about the different win thoughts
1-4: Unacceptable
5: scary
6: bad
7:bare minimum
8: good
9: great
10: very promising
11: Great!
12-13: how? But Amazing…
14: still how? But yippee…
15: yay, we finally got a natty after nearly 100 years! And also how?
This shouldn't be a rebuild. Some of these defenders were playing for Elko himself three years ago. On offense you return a 3rd year QB who was top 5 statistically before his injury a year ago along with some solid skill players. We didn't fire a 7-6 coach to go 8-4. Two years ago we were all expecting 2024 to be the year A&M contends for a national title. Now we're hoping for 8 wins? Honestly, I'd be disappointed with 9 wins. This program has to find a way to hit 10 this year.
Screw content. Simple, Anything less than playoff appearance is a failure. Week 1 at Notre Dame will set the tone.
Our toughest matchups are at home. If we can take 3 of the 4 tough homes games. And limit the road record to 1 or 2 losses.....then business issa boomin

I’m not an A&M fan but I think 9 wins gets most of the fan base in the “happy” category. 8-4 is the safe bet but if you beat ND early that makes 9-3 a real possibility.
You nailed it Chris, 8-4 is the minimum we expect. We would be happy with 9-3 and consistent play on the road and we would be happier with 10-2 bc that means we took care of business and beat 2/4 of our harder home games.

9-3 with this schedule is content. With this talent and this schedule anything less would be a disappointment. 10-2 would be happy.

Hoping for 9-3 or better but 8-4 seems like a reasonable expectation. I’m really only worried about production from our wideouts and offensive line. I’m happy with what Elko is doing and saying to this point but I’m not drinking the coolaid this year.
I think LSU will go 10-2 this year, with losses to Bama and OU.

9-3 would be awesome! 8-4…little disappointing but considering the circumstances with the Aggies losing some key impact players, I would understand it.
Don’t care about the win loss column, I just want to see young men playing lights out for 4 quarters, and young men that want to be Aggies.
9-3 would be a solid season especially considering with a bowl game win that would put Elko 10-3 year one. 9-4 (including a bowl win) would be alright
9 would feel good. And just seeing us play with grit and discipline would be great. My biggest complaint w what they looked like on field under jimbo was lack of discipline. It was never close to a polished performance.
When looking at their schedule I think 8.5 is a fair O/U. Normally they seem like a 7-win type talented team but I think the favorable schedule gets them to 8 or 9 wins.
Since when is Missouri tough to beat? A&M from top to bottom has a better roster than Missouri

Overall I’d like to see 9 wins but 8 with a newish coach, I think the talent could get 10, but I would also be okay with 1-11 if that 1 win is against Texas

Any win total must include a win over tu. Meaning 1-11 with the only win being over tu is better than 11-1 with the only loss being to tu.
