That cover of 'Congratulations' has really stolen my heart, what a great cover & choice of song.
He has such a wonderful ability to emote through his voice. I want him to have a song like Congratulations, as a solo, all for himself.

Yes...every 2pm member can rap...which is rare for KPOP.
They actually had to go to a bootcamp as trainees where they were tested on creating and performing rap and other skills. So from that bootcamp you could see JYP was going to require all of them to rap.
Wooyoung is very passionate. There's a "Without U" video out there where he sings his heart out. He really stands out in that video. Singing Congratulations...it's obvious someone broke his heart. That was an amazing performance.
Wooyoung is probably the singer I like best next to Junho but he doesn't seem to have a large solo career and I don't know why? I don't know enough history as to why he hasn't had a lot of solo albums or solo concerts.
What I believe about 2pm is that by touring in Japan more than Korea for the 5 or 6 years prior to their military hiatus...touring there made them less known in Korea and so it just made things a lot harder for all of 2pm and their singing careers in Korea. I think if they had toured equally in both countries they would have gained more popularity which would have given them more opportunites. I don't know what the thinking was in shipping them off to Japan. Most of all their solo concerts have been in Japan and Junho was the one that just happened to get more solo concerts there. In an interview Junho revealed some time in 2017 that people thought they had disbanded because they no longer saw them on TV. As a relatively new fan...this is sad to me because these guys are special and deserve to still be heard .

I rewatched your reaction to Congratulations and realized I forgot a comment about that. Back in those days, fans used an app to stream from their phones in the audience, which we could listen to live. I listened to all of his shows for this tour (despite being in the middle of the night for me 😵💫), and he usually couldn’t get through the end of the song from the rap onward. He sometimes stopped singing altogether, often he would choke with emotion and go off pitch for the ad libs. He stopped doing that part most nights. He was determined to get through it for this tour finale, though. He is an incredibly emotional artist who feels the music in his body and the lyrics in his heart.
In the group work, he has frequently been given the opening of the song to set the mood, or he gets particularly emotional parts like the bridge in Without You.
I wish later you will react to their solo songs medley since you’ve discovered some of the songs already such as: Everest, The Blue Light, and So Good.

Wooyoung is a really good dancer and he is the main dancer of 2pm.. But before their latest comeback, he kinda forgot a lot of their choreography and was teased a lot by the other members.. It's really cuteeee.. Haha..

I left a comment under your Junho mini-marathon before you released this video, but I added a few recommendations after watching this video, so this might sound similar. I implore you to watch Only Girl. I think it’s what you’re looking for from him. You can hear Wooyoung’s vocals the best with acoustic instruments. Omggg thank you so much for sharing these links! Huge Wooyoung stan since forever and yet I’d never seen Chill Out! It’s such a good song and performance - so desperately want Wooyoung to have the right solo comeback that shows all of his talent which I’ve yet to hold out hope for
@@mutts2004 he’s my bias too 😃 His Japanese Mada Boku wa tour in late 2017 was his best so far in my opinion. He had a live band and no choreography, so he was free to move however he wanted. His styling was gorgeous, his vocals were stable, and the music was great (also my fav album of his). It’s not on YT anywhere except the Only Girl, Letting You Go, and Amanogawa stages from his Budokan final I linked above. Tons of fancams though!

Among the piems, Wooyoung really has that half air half sound technique JYP is known for. It's interesting how the breathiness in his voice makes it so soothing and calm but when he changes it up, it becomes so raw and emotional it makes you wanna cry. I also like his style of rapping. My fave is his pre-chorus rap part in The Cafe. I can listen to that all day.

WOYOUNGIEEEE! Omg I had to pause and calm myself when Give Up started to play, since I knew what was coming.
And yes, his cover of Congratulations made me burst into tears too the first time I heard it. I go back to that performance every now and again, just to feel the things his singing made me feel and to appreciate the depth of his voice.

For "give up" I think it's suits Nichkhun's voice better(he cover this song too), I really want something like "Congratulation"'s cover from Wooyoung, if you want to check out his ballad songs "Only girl" is the best choice.

Ah Wooyoungie.... What an awesome human being. It's impossible not to like him. Junho's my favourite, can't help it, but Wooyoungie has a very special place in my heart.
I loved when you said that he is grumpy haha because he is a master of that sad, innocent and also confused face, but he is actually the funniest ever. A very chill guy that makes 2pm members lose it with the stuff he says and does. You should see more of 2pm being themselves and you'll fall in love with them even more. All of them are extremely likeable. And since I really like Wooyoung's rapping (and speaking voice - I could listen to him for hours, same as Junho) I would recommend a song of his that is probably my favourite. I think his voice suits it perfectly. The lyrics are simple yet perfect (he's listing things he likes). It's called "I like". And the ending lyric wise always makes me emotional. Love this guy.
Wooyoung's offstage persona vastly differs from his onstage persona. He's very funny, one of the funniest in 2pm if not the funniest. Very witty, has this childlike, innocent vibe (he's Junho's baby 💙💛). Variety shows love him. Onstage he is sexy, full of confidence and swag and always up for a great time.
You should watch his perf. of Amano Gawa (Galaxy), a song he wrote for 2PM. Watch 2PM's perf too but prepare your tissues. 😢

Wooyoung has only played one kdrama so far (which he acted so well and natural) and until now he has decided to not pursue or explore more to be an actor. But imo he is the most prominent in expressing the emotion of a song.

Wooyoung is the personification of half air half sound concept of JYP which is why he was the golden child of the company. However, and I say this with him as my bias, none of his solos are memorable so you're not wrong when you said that his solo stuff doesn't really show his full potential. In 'Hands up' he had just a small part that was barely 20 seconds and yet it steals the whole show so he is not at fault. In the show 'We got married', Wooyoung sings a song of his own composition for his new bride in the first episode while playing the piano sporadically and that half a minute song is better than all the crap his composers did for his solo songs. He needs a good solo song.

It would also be interesting to see you go back to 2PM songs after listening to boys' individual solos and see how your perceptions might have changed, even if going back to the songs you've already watched.
