    Quite in interesting and thorough analysis of your own gameplay, I really like these videos you make when you overview your play. They are quite educational as well as entertaining, this is why I subbed as well as for your general opinion on 'Better Gaming'.

      +Alexander Eriksen Glad you enjoy them! Self-analysis is pretty important to player growth, and even though most of it is kind of happening on the fly, when I actually sit down and dissect clips like this, I can sometimes find new things that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

      +Wrel Wrel, I'm a dedicated Planetside 2 player on the PS4, a member of RaTL (disbanded now, although that's aside from the point), but recently, the player base for the PS4 version of the game has been sort of...dying out. Myself and a few other former members of the outfit have been trying to brainstorm ways of getting the game a bit more publicity, but we haven't quite been able to think of anything that would really work. So, would you be able to think of anything, and/or promote it on your channel? My apologies if that last bit sounds a tad too forward.

    wrel thanx for this vid. I hope you can do these more often. In the 50% of us who actually use tactics rather than the 50% who go into a base guns blazing, these are pretty smart tips. Another form of doubling back is going the opposite direction, where your target does the same. You either catch them with their back towards you (because they followed yu and you made a loop) or you catch them head on, and they don't anticipate you. Its really satistfying :3

    @Frightning 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    A really nice, but tricky to pull off variant of this is what I like to call a figure-6. You essentially run away past some piece of cover that you run around in a complete, then you circle around it. Timed correctly, you can bait them into chasing, and then ambush them from behind a few moments later. Harder to setup but man does it payoff when well executed.

  • @WisdomThumbs

    I still remember when this tactic was first introduced to me, back when I first got Halo 3.
    "If someone shoots you, run around a corner and then double back on them. They'll be reloading, and you'll get the kill."
    I still fall for it.

    +Wrel Re: Latency Advantage,
    Nope you're using it 100% correct, but I think you're also rolling the concept of "Reaction Time Delay" into it rather than treating it as its own thing. Not only do they have to mechanically see you, they have to cognitively recognize this and that effect is exaggerated by the unexpected nature of the action.

    I quiet don't agree with you statement at 3:44
    You can finish your reload by running behind the second box in front of you. Note that the enemy had to slow down to open fire AND has his shield up which means he is critically slowed while you are sprinting, which gives you the time to get behind the second box in front of you. There you can finish the reload, wait a second and jump him the same way you did here with the sidearm.
    BUT
    The problems with these sidearm switches is that in general sidearms do less damage, and unlike most main weapons, they are not automatic. So you have a bigger chance to miss a couple of critical shots which are crucial on taking that kind of opponent down. This is just an statement for regular players that are not really able to quick react like you did here, you landed each shot on the head which is amazing by the way.

    • @IonoTheFanatics
      @IonoTheFanatics 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Intreducor to be fair though, part of the advantage of doubling back immediately there is that the other guy does not expect it, and he does not have time to properly consider the situation.
      if Wrel instead break off temporarily to finish reloading, the other guy would realize when he round the corner and not find him there that he is missing... and there's a chance there that he might become more guarded when he tries to find him on the next corner...
      ppl tend to be careless when they see a chance and rushed to snap it...
      when they don't see it anymore however or when they see unexpected things then they tend to start thinking which is bad...

    • @Intreductor
      @Intreductor 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Iono Sama (IonoTheFanatic) usualy people would turn the other way expecting the enemy will go around and intercept them, happened to me countless times and I am doing the same. Wrel did a great job, its just we know that the avarage PS 2 player has 20% accuracy, and most likely not so fast reflexes.

    • @IonoTheFanatics
      @IonoTheFanatics 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well if the other guy turned the other way, you catch him not looking at you, which is great... rip his head off...
      if he is not and is chasing you then you still get the advantage in that it takes him longer to ready his weapon and aim compared to you so you still stand a pretty good chance to kill him as long as he is predictable ie: you can pre aim where he should be as you round the corner...
      if he is not chasing you either and instead was waiting with his gun ready... well then you are kinda screwed either way...
      what i usually find is that more ppl will fall into the 2nd category in the short amount of time following the start of an encounter, which i suspect is because ppl (including experienced players) tend to follow their impulse initially...
      then the longer the encounter drags... ppl start acting differently... the idiots continue chasing like headless chicken relying on pure reflex basically...
      but the one with a bit more experience usually start thinking and assessing situations especially when things didn't go so well... and their impulse start winding down... and this is the kind of players that usually becomes troublesome so i find that usually springing the trap before they get the chance to think gives me a safer outcome overall... since you get a more predictable enemy.

    You should make a video on peaking around corners when you got time. One mistake I notice rather often is that people turn around a corner too fast, exposing themselves to multiple targets. Not only that they're going to be exposed for some time.
    While its not useful in every situation to slowly go around corners its very good for securing point rooms and buildings.
    EDIT: Nevermind, you already made a video regarding this :P

    Been a while since this video, but what i would like to add is latency could be a big problem, one of the times i was playing ps2, suddenly people start freezing and/or teleporting, so what i did is i walked up to one of the enemies, looked at them dead in the eye without them reacting, and shot them, after 30/40 seconds it counted as a kill without me resulting in a death, the game imo has to remove client side hit detection.

    I have been burned so many times by chasing people I refuse to follow anyone who is retreating away from where I am going now. Either I attack, or they come into my sights. Offcourse, If I am defending a sunderer I run towards them as an idiot, just to let them focus at me instead of doing something clever.
    Oh how many times have I not been dancing in front/on top of enemy tanks with no AV weapons just to make them shoot at me instead of the sundy.. BTW the Archer is a good distraction tool. "pling! pling! look at me!"

    • @davecrupel2817
      @davecrupel2817 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just spray the corner as you follow them. avoid sprinting at all costs. and also either crouch or aim at knee level if you can because sometimes the more crafty ones like myself will be crouched. you will miss every shot on such a person if you aim straight.

    • @plainlake
      @plainlake 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Cannata Perhaps when I play TR, but as VS main I usually do not have enough bullets in a mag to spare unless I use a lasher. And I am not big on everyone knowing where I am and getting unwanted attention on me either. Offcourse, unless lasher, but then I am a big noisy flashy target no matter what.

      +John D A It's really only good for cover fighting, when you're peeking in and out. 500 health pool just goes by too quickly to be useful, so probably won't cover it in a video until Restos and/or Healing Grenades receive some sort of buff.

    The only "tactic" now in this game is to stack two platoons against no resistance all the way to the enemy warpgates. The only thing that matters is stacking as many players as a team can against 0 resistance for hours on end. This is the best this game can get now, and it's the way that the game is built to be played. You don't need to know lag compensation, peek, leading, or any of that. You need to know how to pull sundies, shoot HE weapons at spawn rooms, and stand on points. That's it, that's the penultimate of planetside now.
    If you run into any resistance you just need to tell your platoons to redeploy and get on a lattice on an unpopulated continent so you can "win" the game the way it is intended to be played.

      And today we got the Crater on Indar against 60% pop, and they even acknoliged that they were more than us.

    Good video, but I think the latency advantage statement is wrong. If both use the same gun, and the latency is equal to the time between rounds, the enemy will see you one round later in "real time". However the opponents client will also delay the character death by one round after the moment the character got hit at your client, allowing the opponent to fire another round after the character should be dead. This shouldn't strictly give either side an advantage if one side is peeking out. However, both characters being awarded a death and a kill is usually better for the less good player, who is more likely to die first and get the last dead mans shot.

    Doubling back is a technique that I always use as an infiltrator. I even expand this techniques with the cloak. I time my double back plus I uncloak and with both coupled together I already have the enemy zeroed in and I fire usually ending with an instant kill with a CQC bolt action rifle. Unfortunately from the other side it looks like I'm abusing lag and from the inexperienced player's it looks like an aim-bot. At the end of the day it comes down to reducing your own reaction times by milliseconds and once you've reached a point where you can't really reduce your reaction times, the alternative is to increase the reaction time of your opponents.

    I thought they changed knife hit detection a while back when they implemented wield-able knives? I thought that it used to be instant, but now did damage a quarter/half second later?
    Or was that only for actually wielding it instead of quick-knifing?

    • @WrelPlays
      @WrelPlays  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zac C Yeah, quick-knifing with default knives is instant. But ANY wielded knife as well as a quick-knife with a Power Knife always has a delay before damage hits. Did a review of Power Knives a while back, and it talks about the differences between standard knives as well, if you're interested in giving that a look.

    Ive noticed this in a couple of your vids and was curious as to whether it was a personal twitch or a purposeful action and if the latter why?

      Most likely because it's rather unpredictable, making it a bit harder for enemies to land shots on him, particularly for headshotting snipers.

      +devilrv89 When you jump, you can start a revive while maintaining your momentum. If you just walk up to a target, then you're going to be at walking speed until they revive. So by jumping, you're spending less time at walking speed, which makes you a more difficult target to hit. It also lets you start a revive and get into a better position at the same. Lastly, it's more amusing than standing there.

    Anyone who plays on PS4 have the issue of their jetpack not working properly? The horizontal movement seems be ok but the vertical movement isnt, like I just float a foot or two of the ground and that's it. If I hold it down and go straight up, I can only go about 10 ft of the ground. I can't even get over base walls which is what the class was designed for and I'm really getting frustrated to the point I don't even use light assault anymore. I thought that new patch would fix it but nope, it didnt.

    • @WrelPlays
      @WrelPlays  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Puncakian You probably have Drifter Jump Jets equipped on that loadout. Drifters are really only good for horizontal movement.

    • @thepuncakian2024
      @thepuncakian2024 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrel But are they really THAT bad for vertical movement? I don't see why anyone would want to use them, and you don't even go that fast...

    • @WrelPlays
      @WrelPlays  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Puncakian Yeah, they're that bad. Used to be worse, and granted no vertical thrust at all. The point of Drifters are to be used at certain bases that give you a vertical advantage, or with jump pads. Max rank lets you fly for about THIRTY SECONDS, which is a long time to be airborne. They're best for C-4ing vehicles from a long way away. But again, very specific in their use.

    • @thepuncakian2024
      @thepuncakian2024 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrel drifters would probably be better if you didn't hold it down and just pressed it and you would boost a direction a short distance really quickly, like if you're in a fight and you hit it and boost backward really fast to get out of there, that would be practical.

    A-TROSS OR REAPER???

    • @toothpasteeater3713
      @toothpasteeater3713 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jason li (gunfyre212) Reaper is a monster on medium range, but low bullet speed, recoil and drop compensation make it really hard to use on longer ranges. Tross is the way to go on longer ranges because of higher bullet velocity and lower RPM that will benefit you by making that recoil a little more controllable at the expense of raw DPS advantage reaper has.
