    the blue stag is so nice - basic coral but it's so wonderful because of how you see them in the wild ;)

      Yeah I’m a fan of the corals that make the whole tank look good, and usually they are the classics with okay color but beautiful growth structure. Some corals only look nice up close - I keep those too but you need some of the basics and classics for the whole tank view which is most of my viewing.

      Thanks! The Stratons are super underrated… probably from lack of stable availability. The spread is unreal.

    So sick dude! Very nice work with the new setup! Your corals have crazy color 😮

      Thank you! I'm hoping the color improves and my use of cameras to capture more accurate colors. the GoPro seems to wash out some of the color.

    fantastic looking tank, love it - something to aspire to - having to trim corals to keep them from getting too big is a nice problem to have

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  ปีที่แล้ว

      I try not to trim just to trim, but I think it’s important to trim corals to keep a nice shape, like a bonsai tree, as well as when they are close to touching other corals. Otherwise I let them grow.

    • @NBurgReef

      I should do a vid, but off the top of my head, the blue, royal blue, UV and violet are 100%, white is ~35-40% and cyan and red are ~5%. Cyan really washes out colors.
      With that I run the overall intensity at 85% now that I have 3, but plan on slowly going back up to 100% intensity for a few hours per day.

    You have by far one of the best reef tanks I’ve ever seen, any tricks you have for such amazing growth?

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the kind words! Nothing groundbreaking. Don’t over complicate, know when you can and cannot be lazy and try to keep your maintenance consistent. I do weekly water changes, try to keep pH as much as possible and keep all stable. High flow and good light coverage. Not really sure which of those are most important but that’s what I stick to.

    Absolutely amazing looking tank how do you keep the bottom so clean?

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you talking lack of detritus or no coraline? It’s only a week old in the pic, but I have a stream 3 blowing 100% power down that bottom back. That’s a beast of a pump so it keeps things from settling. Only heavy stuff like sand settles on the bottom which I suck up during water changes.

    • @maraten12
      @maraten12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NBurgReef
      Yeah the lack of detritus I meant, I should of been more clearer. Your tank is absolutely stunning and that is what I hope mine will look like one day 🤞

    Tank's looking great! Are the rocks sitting on glass or are you using starboard?

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!!
      Rocks are sitting on the glass. The glass is 22mm, which is about 8/10" (0.86") so I am not worried about rocks cracking the bottom. I do use little "Ocean Wonders Frag Rocks" as little wedges to keep things stable and secure. I am actually editing a short video how I keep my barebottom clean and stable which I should be posting in a day or two.

    • @marcosousa3986
      @marcosousa3986 ปีที่แล้ว

      Setting up a new tank and keeping it barebottom. Was on the fence if I should place starboard on the bottom... Thanks for helping me decide.

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcosousa3986I think it can help if you're worried about rock collapses, but I don't k now of any breaking a bottom pane unless you're dealing with monster rocks in a small tank. Starboard will probably trap gunk under it and end up covered in coraline just like bare glass.

    Great tank! May I ask what lights your using? Do your triggers nip at coral?
    Great content

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! Lights are ATI Straton LEDs (first gen). Blue throat triggers are quite Reef safe (maybe not shrimp safe, but I have other shrimp eaters so never tested them.) the only harm they do to corals is there clumsy and run into them and frag a stick every now and then.

      @NBurgReef  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DuzzyDobbin Yeah, I bought 2in January 2021 for the Red Sea Reefer I was running and bought a third when I upgraded to this tank, so I can say everything in here has grown mostly from the Stratons (while I may have had some of the corals under my old hybrid light, most would have been frag sized then)

    Corals are looking great. What's your phos and nitrate sit at if you don't mind me asking?

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  ปีที่แล้ว

      Phos is usually what some would call on the higher end of “acceptable” 0.1 ppm give or take 50%. Nitrates have always been tough to keep elevated for me. So I dose sodium nitrate to keep it between 5-10 ppm.

    • @bobbyknox9258
      @bobbyknox9258 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NBurgReef thanks for the reply. Looking at the colours I thought they would be fairly low. I need to dose sodium nitrate aswell to stop colours fading. The colours on yours are fantastic 👌

    hows aquarium glass is it easy to scratch?

    • @NBurgReef
      @NBurgReef  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      6 months in and no scratches so far - having no sand and the Tunze scraper makes it easier to avoid scratches.
