Hey, I stumbled across your channel tonight and have been binging it all night, really enjoying the content! I was really surprised to see you review this Whisky, I live in Newfoundland, and we tend to fly under most people's radar, so seeing you review this made me excited. I haven't gotten to taste this yet myself, still a whisky novice on my journey, but I'll definingly be picking up a bottle soon.

Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye, so far, is the only Canadian whiskey I've tried which has done much of anything for me. I prefer my whiskey to be the 43% to 46% range, which most Canadians are 40% and tend to lack much in the way of character. In November, at our spirits club, we tend to feature Canadians, so perhaps one day I'll find another inspiring one. I do recommend the Alberta Rye I have mentioned.

Glad you’re on the mend. And hope you continue to feel better. Interesting whiskey I will have to try to find it. Do you know the mass bill they are using?

      Thank you!
I don't know the exact split, only that they are using corn and barley spirit, but I'd guess it's a higher corn spirit content because of the strong grain whisky character I'm getting, however it could just be combination of the blend and cask types so that's just a guess.

@@swedishwhiskygirl Yes mass bill is not the word I should have used. what I wanted to ask is the percent of malt spirit to grain spirit. I am not that familiar with blended whisky but running the corn spirit through a second column still should yield a very delicate spirit.

Glad to hear that you are doing fine Can’t imagine what COVID does. Not one day at home during the pandemic. Haven’t had one Canadian whisky ever also. Maybe this could be a first. Have to educate my self into these whisky’s I think. Interesting video/review. Slainthe. Ow something to add. At a certain restaurant we had ice cream with whisky poured on it. Smooth and sweet. This ons should be perfect for this. Imagine octomore one your ice cream😂

Thank you - it's definitely still lingering because I feel exhausted without really doing anything but not feeling too bad ☺️
Definitely think this one would work brilliantly with ice cream - I sometimes makes my own ice cream and incorporate whisky so perhaps this one would suit like a classic vanilla and/or pear flavoured one!

@@swedishwhiskygirl Corona does strange things I guess. It kept me busy for example. Made more hours than ever and still am. But more important thing. Whisky and ice is awesome. Maybe an episode about that. And have to buy groceries tomorrow. Guess what’s added to my shopping list.

Never had a Canadian whisky as the range of products is not fantastic. I hope to find one at 46 abv as I have got used to this strength. Glad you are feeling better after a mild case of covid. I tried Power's John lane 12 recently and it was really good and stronger than the 46 on the label.

Yeah many of the ones I've seen tend to be at 40%, or possibly 43%. I'd love to explore further and I wonder how many that might be available locally but not on an international market and if there's single cask expressions etc.
I've only tried Powers a long time ago so can't quite remember it but will have to keep an eye out!

If you're still looking for a Canadian whisky around 46%ABV I have a few suggestions; Forty Creek Art of The Blend Whisky (45%) & Pike Creek 22YO Cask Finish Canadian Whisky (45%) These are a few that are available at my local liquor store here in Canada, but my stores are fairly limited compared to stores more inland in provinces like Ontario, etc.

I do have a bottle of Signal Hill that I quite like, but I would say that (of the affordable Canadian whiskies I own*) I prefer J.P. Wiser's Dissertation and Gooderham & Worts Little Trinity, both of which are available through The Whisky Exchange (or were, at least), though I don't think they do samples, only full bottles. (*I'm deliberately ignoring the 42-year-old Canadian Club and the Wiser's Oldest dated 1961... 😄)

Oh how interesting - I don't know much about either of those so will definitely put them on my to-try list! How would you describe them in flavour style?
