I actually loved Half a Soul! I can see how he might come across as mean, but I always saw him as angry at society/institutions because of the social injustice of it all, rather than specifically attacking any individual. And I think Dora was his equal in that, neither of them had time/understanding of niceties-- much more interested in blunt truths and actions. I actually read The Boyfriend Candidate by Ashley Winstead over the weekend and the male LI in that has similar energy. But since he's running in politics he's constantly being corrected by his team and having to smooth his message to be more palatable, instead of aggressively attacking society's ills. And I personally prefer someone to be blunt! And they should be mad about injustice! (But also I am likely on the spectrum so it might just be that this is how my brain generally works and prefers, so maybe neurotypical folks are more sensitive and see that person as abrasive.)
The reason you probably can't put that mug in the microwave is because of the gold detailing on the handle and the design itself. My family had a mug like that and we accidentally put it in the microwave for like seconds and it may or may not have started smoking so we immediately stopped the microwave and took it out and never used the mug again lol. Just as a little disclaimer, we didn't know it was non-microwavable as there was no indication on the details of the product nor on the bottom of the mug.
Commenting on the 9:56 mark to mention that I think there's a problem with The Good Son translation that makes the experience less interesting and kind of confusing. When I read it I knew nothing of Korean culture, now that I know much more and I'm learning the language, I realize that there were expressions that shouldn't have been translated but transcripted and explained. The way they translated everything left the cultural part out and missed the impact of it.

I don’t quite understand the translation errors or how the Korean culture changed in the translating of the book but it is a good thing to remind myself that those miscommunication very likely took place here as well as every translation I read. It’s too hard to nail down someone’s intention in another language exactly.

Its called "Soulless" by Gail Carriger. She's soulless. She's a spinster. And there are vampires and werewolves and a mystery to solve.
tbh i am so glad i found someone who isn't obsessed with half a soul. i tried to read one of olivia atwater's books (the lesbian one) and i was just so confused? tell me why the writing style was giving extremely mediocre middle grade mystery story yet it was meant to be a ya romance? ALSO i hate cardan too he genuinely disgusts me. bully romance is gross and its not enemies to lovers if the boy is a privileged asshole and the girl is doing what it takes to survive. (and ive read the first 2 books so dont say it gets better) ANYWAY, katie i know you felt bad about not liking the books but this was all to say that there will always be people out there who appreciate your honesty :)
