Man, how would you like to go to a tournament as a black belt and end up losing to a green belt? What is the critical difference? Age? Conditioning? Match prep? Or are some schools just that much better than the others?
It can be single or multiple of those. It can happen at times. I've seen it before. It can also be the match assignments before hand - e.g. black belt was placed into a tougher pool to start off woth, had some gruelling fights and the other person had an easier pool to begin with. This can happen too. Lots of pressure on the black belt to perform, that's for sure !
Good job! You have very good skills. Belt color really doesn’t matter it’s the individual. I’ve been an Ikkyu (Brown Belt) since 1970 and still a Brown Belt. I started Judo in Japan at age 5 and I’m fluent in Japanese. I beat a Black Belt in International competition in 25 seconds., and in Europe 2 years ago I seen another Brown Belt beat 3 Black Belts in a row in International competition.
Good green belt. 1.19 in, you've won by Ippon. IJF/BJA/BJC rules.
Thanks, I thought the same thing
